  1. I'm going to college in the fall and looking to upgrade my monitor. It'll need to connect to my Macbook as well as my desktop PC, so ideally it'd have a USB-C/Thunderbolt port with charging capability. I'm going to be studying graphic design, so my #1 priority for the monitor is color accuracy/gamut support. In terms of frame rate, 120Hz would be a plus, but other features are definitely more important, as I honestly don't play too many games, and the ones I do aren't the type where frame rate is the highest priority. The biggest requirement I have is spurred on by a really dumb thing with MacOS, basically for text and whatnot to be sharp, you need specific display size/resolution combos. Here's an article and video about it, but basically the display needs to have a PPI of around either 110 or 220. The easiest option is 1440p@27in, but there may be a good 4k size option as well. I'd like to definitely pay under $1000, but ideally closer to $500, or even lower if possible. To summarize my reqirements: USB-C power delivery capable **color accuracy** - biggest priority 60Hz is fine, 120Hz is nice, anything more is overkill either 110 or 220 PPI (calculator) - so probably 1440p@27in definitely sub 1k, ideally around 500 or lower
  2. I'd love to see a video about converting older tape based cameras to digital ones. For anyone who isn't aware, a lot of MiniDV cameras, and chiefly the Sony VX1000, are very popular in skateboarding filming (and other things, mostly derived from the interest in skateboarding), in order to recreate some of the look and feel of classic skate videos. The issue with using these however, is that using MiniDV is kind of a pain compared to shooting onto an SD card. Additionally, the MiniDV tapes aren't being made anymore, so it's hard to get them. This has led to people converting them to digital. There are some more readymade options, but where it gets really interesting with the more DIY options. Here's a video about it: The main product used here is now unavailable unfortunately, but with some digging I'm sure there's other solutions. I feel like this could be an interesting video with Linus and another host going through the process, maybe the guy who had a bunch of tape videos saved (can't remember his name :( ) or someone who is into some scene that uses VX1000s, if there are any.
  3. how old? the issue has been happening for over a year, I'm pretty sure I posted on here about it
  4. cannot change my monitors resolution when it happens
  5. My computer keeps setting the display size to the wrong size after restarts. It sets my 1920x1200 monitor to 680x480. I'd think about blaming this on my crappy monitor (NEC EA244WMi), but it does not happen in the BIOS, so to me that seems to lower the likelihood of that being the issue. I have a GTX 1070ti, and have already tried DDU to reinstall my drivers numerous times. I have also reinstalled Windows, which also did not help the issue. The issue will sometimes correct itself after a restart, but not always (the windows reinstall was because the issue happened after like 10 consecutive restarts). I've attached a picture of what it looks like, as well as what the monitor shows up as, and a photo of the monitor working properly, taken after the two others. Edit: after switching to HDMI, the issue went away. This doesn't mean the issue is fixed, just helps w diagnostics.
  6. Sometimes, my computer won't recognize the proper screen resolution. It thinks it's way smaller than it actually is [480p i believe (maybe even 240p), instead of the corect 1080p] This seems to happen when I turn it on after it's been off for some time, but it doesn't happen all of the time. Every time but once, I've been able to fix by a simple restart, so it hasn't been a high priority concern of mine. (the one time a restart didn't fix i just left it alone for the night and it was fine in the morning) Anyone have a diagnosis or any suggestions? I have a little bit of an odd system, as I bought the PC slowly and kinda ran out of money for a GPU lmao: Ryzen 5 3600X 16GB 3200 MHz RAM MSI B-550 A PRO motherboard EVGA GTX 960 monitor is a NEC MultiSync EA244WMi, crappy monitor that my dad used to use lol. It's running on a generic PnP monitor driver. driver is from 2006 but its the most up to date one
  7. it would be an upgrade but the question is do you need an upgrade??
  8. google pixel 4a has a headphone jack and a good camera as well as ur other requirements
  9. here's the link from the USPTO with the trademark. I was wondering if Justia pulled the address from somewhere else but it looks like they did not. I feel like at this point there's no chance this isn't tied with MSI, I can't imagine the patent/trademark office accidentally letting some scammers register a trademark with a fake address pretending to be a different company lmao that link doesn't work oops, here's a screenshot of the page, but you can search for it with the serial number and find it on the .gov website
  10. looks like you didnt finish ur sentence
  11. yea we need to know what you're doing with the pc. (and specs could be helpful as well)
  12. I'm looking to get a old (like probably 500 series, maybe 700) GPU to tide me over until the 3070. I have a b550 motherboard and a 3600x. will the system even work if there isn't a UEFI compatible GPU? tried looking it up but everything was pretty outdated.
  13. yeah, i have a similar build and budget, and am waiting for the next gen cpus as well
  14. i wouldnt commit to the cpu yet, cause the next gen may be out by then. Other than that, it looks pretty good.
  15. yeah doubt thats repairable. prolly gotta get a new screen.
  16. do you have a GPU? also, id wait until the next generation releases soon to purchase anything
  17. i'd check out the youtube channel Julian Krause, i think hes a professional audio engineer and he has a bunch of really technical audio interface reviews
  18. other sub 150 ones are the komplete audio 1/2 and the audient evo 4. think the evo 4 is pretty compact
  19. the cheapest one i know of is the behringer um2
  20. I ordered a new wifi card for my computer and it came in a package that wasn't what I was expecting. It had branding of the company the pci-e carrier thingy was (fenvi) not Intel. I've attached pics of the HWinfo results for the new one and the definietly intel original one. Speed was slightly faster on the new one, but within a margin of error. I had a intel 8265 and am upgrading to an ax200.
  21. thatll be so nice for all the small business owners after they removed the ability to use those square things with the headphone jack
