    I don't agree with this.

I think that if someone were to attempt this, knowing what LTT went through in terms of parts not working with each other and being sent the wrong thing is actually valid.

Anything that isn't a Founders Edition at MSRP is overpriced.

    DONE. 😎

All of the good custom cards are like a $150+ premium (if also at MSRP), for minimal performance gains.

SFFDesigns reacted to WhitetailAni in 2 1060s or a 2070
NVidia does not support SLI with the 1060, and SLI is not supported by most games, so no, you should not buy another 1060.
Don't buy a card right now though. Prices are really high.

(Edit, for a normal closed case) 5900x is gonna be hot no matter what unless you manage to get an AIO on it or undervolt/clock it hard.

That being said, FormD T1 and SSUPD Meshilicious are two very good recent cases that are worth looking into.

SFFDesigns reacted to Nystemy in Building a PC with My Wife (actually gone wrong)
And here I thought that, "nah, I will have nothing to comment on in this video..."

The thing that blew up were an MLCC cap. This one to be specific:

Multi layered ceramic capacitors are actually somewhat notorious for failing as a dead short. It is their primary failure mode, and it is induced by a crack forming and from there a short is usually immanent. It typically comes from mechanical stress. Either through flexing of the board, or thermal cycling. In some industries (Automotive, aerospace, medical, etc) MLCCs have soft terminations to mitigate this issue (or just avoid MLCCs all together in critical areas, and use other caps instead), it however adds a noticeable cost to the components, (literally going from a few cents each to tends of cents each in bulk.) so not something one should expect in consumer electronics build down to a price with minimal margins.

It is however still a very small risk of it happening, so consider yourself lucky to get it on video on an otherwise flawless new board.

    Edit:
I would also not greatly worry about it, considering its proximity to the fan/AIO headers, then it is likely just some bypass capacitance for the header itself. Could be bypass capacitance for the 8 pin SOIC chip.

Though, the cap does have rather close proximity to the VRM heatsink mounting hole, could be mechanical stress related. I have seen MLCC's go aflame if placed too close to a mounting screw having a bit too much torque applied to it. Since the board will locally flex, but the cap has the correct orientation to minimize this issue, so I wouldn't largely suspect this to be the case.

In the end, this is just a 1 in a billion or so risk of an MLCC deciding to just fail randomly. Really rare, but it does happen.

SFFDesigns reacted to Deslumo in LTT Hard Drive Shirt Spells Out "Linus Tech Tips" in Binary
No idea if anyone else has already had the time or the interest in doing this. Anyways, I'll just post it here in the hopes that anyone who hasn't seen this before is fascinated. I was actually just taking a dump when I noticed this.

Look at the Hard Drive Shirt. You'll notice a that there's Torx-esque stars that seem to be leaving a trail of dots and dashes.

There's a total of three separate 8-bit sequences of dots and dashes. Two sequences are of length 15, and the remaining one is of length 3.

I translated this into binary. Each dot represents a "0" and each dash represents a "1".

Long 8-bit Sequence of Length 15:

    01001100 01101001 01101110 01110101 01110011 00100000 01010100 01100101 01100011 01101000 00100000 01010100 01101001 01110000 01110011

Short 8-bit Sequence of Length 3

    01001100 01010100 01010100

The long sequence translates to "Linus Tech Tips"

The short sequence translates to "LTT"

This is some great attention to detail done by the merch team, and certainly the most clever thing T-Shirt design I've ever seen. I wonder what other easter eggs are hidden in the merch.

I haven't watched the video yet, but I'd personally recommend against going with this case. L12S + 3 slot GPU in vertical form should be at most ~10L including "stand" to route cables under the case. The SSUPD Meshlicious is only 2L more yet it supports a 280mm rad and has much better ventilation.  This case is definitely not worth $329 imo

That's not accurate. It will work on gen 3 and even older professors.
I am using it on my system with a 9900k. Gotta check with your motherboard manufacturer of they have a bios update to enable it or plan to. It is up to the manufacturer to enable it if the board supports the capability.

Get an ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 360mm instead of those if you do get a 360mm AIO. Cheaper and performs better most of the time, plus it has a VRM heatsink fan.

A 3070 is a 3070. Founders edition just means it's Nvidia branded. It's no better or worse than any card.

If you want to game with it then keep it. If you want to take advantage of the current inflated prices then sell it.
