  1. Debating between that or the Gigabyte (triple fan) 5600 XT at the moment. Wouldn't have to worry about cooling or MSI's warrant (assuming I crack open the 5700 to do some tinkering). Would lose ~10 FPS for most games it seems. And 2 GB VRAM. But it's in stock and on sale now. Who knows when EVOKE OC will come back up. GPU is the only thing I'm waiting on at the moment.
  2. It's the EVGA 650W G5. B+ tier on the PSU tier list. And I've been holding out for the $275 EVOKE OC deal on NewEgg. I've been hearing better things about the EVOKE since MSI revised the thermal pads. Know it's not a great card relative to some other models but for the price it's such a great deal. Meant to say I'll be using the stock cooler. Correct, meant to say the stock cooler. PSU model is the EVGA 650W G5. Already have it. 650 80+ Gold. B+ tier list.
  3. Per MSI's website. Is this purposefully overkill? Will I be fine with a 650W PSU? Will be running it on a B450 TOMAHAWK MAX, R5 3600, 1 TB SSD, and 4 case fans. No CPU cooler.
  4. Aren't the 2060S and 2070 nearly identical? Anyways, know it's a long shot that either of them will drop in price. Hard to beat the value of the 5700 series it seems.
  5. Didn't realize the EVOKEs are better after the fix. Think I'll hold out for one of those. They seem to drop in price pretty regularly. Unless I can find a 2060S or 2070 for cheap.
  6. Would you go for a good RX 5600 XT card or a mediocre/entry-level RX 5700 card? That's the dilemma for me at the moment. I've read the 5700 EVOKEs are so-so at best.
  7. 5600 XT would be fine for 1080p 144hz? Haven't got everything yet. CPU will likely be R5 3600 and PSU will be RMx (2018) 550W. Might get a stronger PSU since they recommend a 750W PSU on the AMD website.
  8. If you see this in time, the Gigabyte 5600 XT is available for $260 on NewEgg right now. Only about an hour left on the sale though. This is a good point. I'm going to play on 144hz...got the ASUS VG249Q. Will be my first time playing on 144hz since that's a big requirement for me. I'm thinking about going for an MSI RX 5700 EVOKE OC when it goes on sale again at NewEgg for around $270. Know it's not the best 5700 card but bang for your buck is pretty hard to beat. And I could also flash with 5700 XT BIOS.
  9. Don't want a blower card. Was thinking about maybe getting an MSI 5700 EVOKE but have heard not great things about the temp/noise. 5600 XT seems like a solid bet for the price and for what I want to do.
  10. Interested in good framerates for 1080p 144hz gaming. Don't play many super demanding triple A games. PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($174.99 @ B&H) Motherboard: MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.99 @ Best Buy) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory ($72.98 @ Amazon) Storage: Western Digital Blue SN550 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($119.99 @ Newegg) Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon RX 5600 XT 6 GB GAMING OC Video Card ($259.99 @ Newegg) Case: NZXT H510 ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.98 @ Amazon) Power Supply: Corsair RMx (2018) 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($108.98 @ Newegg) Total: $921.90 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2020-04-20 20:58 EDT-0400 Thinking about dropping the R5 3600 for the 1600 AF to save $90 (bringing the total to ~$830). Would I notice a decrease in performance at all? Also, I'm having trouble locating the B450 TOMAHAWK MAX in stock or for a reasonable price (it's currently $200 at NewEgg). What would be a good, comparable alternative? If I go for the 1600 AF, thinking about getting a refurbished B450 TOMAHAWK (non-MAX) on Ebay for $70. Any good recommendations for case fans? Believe I need two more for the H510.
  11. It's been super frustrating trying to track down any part. MOBOs, PSUs...everything is overpriced, out of stock, or on backorder. Really frustrating. And when stuff does come back in stuff it sells out again almost instantly.
  12. I'm not deadset on playing on Ultra. I've been playing on low settings for most games for the past 10 years so I'm used to it. Would be great if I could play on High but again...there's definitely wiggle room there. I think I've just had trouble finding good deals on some of the higher end cards which has made this decision hard. This is a good point. Frame rate does matter to me. Just got a 1080p 144hz monitor (ASUS VG249Q) but it's entirely possible that I upgrade to a 1440p in a couple of years. Which card did you go with? The only ones I've seen that cheap are the MSI Evoke/Mechs which I've heard some so-so things about.
  13. Currently trying to decide on a GPU for my build and have considered most of the options in the $200-450 range (i.e., 1660 Super, 2060, 5600 XT, 5700, 2060 Super, 2070, 5700 XT). Was initially set on getting something from the upper end of that range—either a 2060S/2070 or 5700 XT. While I could definitely afford it, it would be at the upper threshold for my budget and when I think about it...do I really need it? I don't play a lot of really demanding AAA games (e.g., RDR2, Asassin's Creed, etc.) and am not planning on playing in 1440p. Mostly stick to competitive or ARPG games like Apex Legends, R6S, and Diablo 3. With my new build, I'd really love to give The Division 2 and Borderlands 3 a try but can't think of many other super demanding games that interest me. Is spending $400 on a GPU overkill for me? I could pick up the Gigabyte 5600 XT GAMING OC (3 fans) for $260 right now. For what I want to do, do you think this makes more sense? I have no problem spending more for a GPU (~$400) but am wondering if I can really justify it. Alternatively, I could split the difference and pick up an RX 5700 for ~$330 (albeit not a great 5700 card—MSI Evoke). Tentative build would be pairing the GPU with a Ryzen 5 3600 and B450 TOMAHAWK.
