  1. Unfortunately it seems I'll have to try to RMA this GeIL stick (they seem to have lifetime warranty, and a non-robot has already responded to my email inquiry), then. Though it's kinda unique, at least for me, to have a RAM to.. downgrade in size. Not only that, but to downgrade to a size that's even unavailable in the market for this tech.
  2. Exactly. It now somehow reports itself as a 2GB DDR4 module, fully working and without throwing any errors. I've imagined the issues I'd encounter by using different sticks of modules would be timing and speed issues, with the possibility of it not booting; but never... permanent size mismatch? By the way, with both modules connected, CPU-Z still shows as a Dual Channel, even though the size is different. Talk about odd.
  3. Hi, I've a kinda weird issue here. I've never seen such problem before. RAM either worked or didn't. Alright, so I have a stick of 8GB DDR4 RAM, made by Geil, model Evo Potenza. It was showing 8GB just fine and worked marvelously. I, then, added another 8GB stick, made by Crucial, model Ballistix, and I had 16GB of RAM. Fine. Then I began having a couple of out of memory issues, where 16GB would be expected, and found out I've had just short of 10GB of RAM. BIOS now detects the initial Geil Evo Potenza 8GB stick as 2GB, for some reason. CPU-Z SPD for that stick reports it as a... 512MBytes module?! I've tried restoring BIOS defaults, resetting the BIOS on the motherboard, updating the BIOS, re-seating the RAM, changing RAM slots, clearing the RAM contacts, increasing the voltage, reducing the voltage, increasing the timing, reducing the timing... to no avail. It even passes Memtest86 with flying colors, as 2GB (as attached). The Crucial stick works fine, BIOS detects it as 8GB, works as 8GB in any of the RAM slots and everything. Has this RAM partially died? I've never experienced a partial RAM failure, so I have no idea what's going on here, if it's either that or something else RAM is working just fine as a one-of-a-kind 2GB DDR4 2600MHz module MemTest86-Report-20200416-190155.html
