I need some advice. I live in Malaysia and standard power is 240V. Somehow, all my 2 pronged cables are causing my electrical appliances to leak current (PS4, TV). My quick fix was always to earth it by running a cable from the metal part of the appliance to the earth port in the wall socket. But how do i do that if I am charging my laptop through the USB type C port? Is there a more permanent fix to this?

Sounds like an earthing issue. I reside in a third world country and I have the exact same issue. Turns out the moronic electrical engineer of the housing project that I reside in didn't bother earthing the building. If you have a three pin outlet anywhere in your house, place two probes of a multimeter in the earth pin and the neutral pin and if there's a voltage reading showing up on your meter, that means your place of residence isn't probably earth'd/grounded.

That person is incorrect.  She took what I said out of context and amplified it.

To detail out what I was quoted as saying in that thread:

TX-M is better in a sense that it has all Japanese capacitors and the better fan that the RMx has, but it's actually louder do to the poor housing design.

The CEC requirements for California SI's is a minor change that utilizes a different LLC controller that can switch to a "burst mode" at lower loads so > 70% efficiency can be achieved at loads as low as 2%.

Again:  The RM is the same as the RMx but without the Japanese capacitors and the better fan.  Though the fan in the RM is still far superior to most other fans on the market, including other Hong Hua fans.

Just read the review I linked you to.  Then read an RMx review.  It's all right there.

Thank you so much for your time.

It is THE EXACT SAME PLATFORM except the RMx has Japanese capacitors and different fans.

There are reviews if you want a complete teardown:  https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/corsair-rm850-power-supply,6127.html

If you don't mind me asking, I came across a thread a while back where a person in the thread said "The RM is a stripped down, cheapened up variant that's marginally inferior in quality terms to the TXM and is more on the lines with the latest CX version and is nowhere near close the true RMx.".  While you have said that it's the exact same platform as the RMx except it doesn't utilize Japanese capacitors and utilizes a different fan, would you say there's some truth to the staement of the RM being "a stripped down, cheapened variant"?

  4. Hello, everyone.
I was doing some reading on the RM 2019 series and found a thread on this very same forum where someone said the following:

"The RM is a stripped down, cheapened up variant that's marginally inferior in quality terms to the TXM and is more on the lines with the latest CX version and is nowhere near close the true RMx."

Exactly how true is this statement?

    Thank you for your time.

in-cable capacitors, a bit less noise, a bit worse 2% load efficiency and a bit upgraded internals compared to RM 2019

Alright, thank you for your time. My final question is a bit stupid, but I was hoping you could answer it: I noticed in the tier A Single-Rail section that you had "RM Gray" written. Is this referring to the 2019 RM power supplies such as the CP-9020196-UK?

RMx is more silent and has a semi-passive fan profile instead of TXM's always spinning fan. the electrical performance on RMx is also a bit better than TXM

    RM 2013 goes by:

    CP-9020055-(country)
    CP-9020056-(country)

    CP-9020066-(country)
    CP-9020053-(country)
    CP-9020054-(country)

    CP-9020062-(country)

    RM 2019 goes by:

    CP-9020194-(country)
    CP-9020195-(country)
    CP-9020196-(country)

The model number of the power supply is CP-9020196-UK. I just want to confirm, there's nothing wrong with the PSUs that have this model number, right?

  7. Hello,
    I have two questions:

    Question#1:
I noticed that the TXM power supply is cheaper than a RMX power supply. Are RMX PSUs in any way better than TXM 2017 PSUs even if though they're both in the same tier list besides the fact that RMX PSUs are fully modular?

    Question#2:
For Corsair's RM series, do older models have the same model, or part, number as newer models or do they have completely different model, or part, numbers? I'm asking because a certified retailer of Corsair is selling a RM850 that has the same model number as a gray label, but the picture they're displaying on the store page is that of the 2013 RM850.

It was the best times of my life, girlfriend, now wife, dancing, drinking, games and fun studies. I wish I had put more effort in as I cruised along on my intelligence rather than work. Still in the end I was lucky with work after it.

I wouldn’t do much different if I did it again, I learnt lots of important stuff, in and out of lectures.

It's good that you had a fun experience. I'm also very glad to hear that you met the love of your life while studying.

Best of luck to you and your wife.

My university was like a dream. Come and go at any time and nobody cares. No issues with the attendance and lots of free time as well with the classes. And mass bunks were always supported by all. Was worth living it again.

What major were you studying and would you say you learned anything there?

PUBG, GTA V, Farcry 5, Assassin's Creed Origins, COD Warzone (The multiplayer runs well, warzone has become a stuttery mess. Used to run perfectly when it had just come out). Basically those games that require a lot of CPU simulation.

I recommended using mixed setting for GTAV. The grass quality setting can cause your fps to tank like crazy if you have it maxed out while being in a grass field. Also, what's your CPU usage when you don't have any games running in the background?

Yes, I'm using Dual Channel at 1600mhz. Not all of my games but the ones that are CPU intensive. Games that benefit more from GPU run flawlessly.

Are you actually having stuttering issues in all your games or just some? If it's only a few, could you tell me which ones they are?

I went to university at the age over 30 and I hate university. I would much rather earn money but I need to do it to achieve my life goal.

You can kind of count yourself as lucky because not a lot of people have the time or money to work towards their life goal.

Just asking, do you have the option to drop out and work with a decent pay?

A complete waste of time. Thankfully I only did a 2 year degree so my student loan debt wasn't absurd. I've already paid a third of it off.

I say a waste of time because what I did learn, did not prepare me for any of the I.T. certifications I would need to get further into the I.T. industry. I'm currently a glorified delivery driver for laptops and whatnot. I was a repair technician for 2 years before being "promoted" to the current position.

Currently look into getting my CDL and becoming a truck driver so I can earn a decent paycheck.

    Best of luck to you!

Well, again, it sucks not to have viable public education...

You can't learn everything at the same time, keep on schedule with your exams if possible and take breaks when you can.

    Thank you for the advice.

yep my first semester of a physics major i didnt even learn anything they just had you do odd stuff for a professor LUL. i got to show off my soldering skills from when i took a high school electronics class when the professor asked us to put together a variable power supply for him. gotta teach the students early how to butter up professors i guess

but it was a cool experience and was actually more useful than my calc 1 and chem classes

When I was around 18, a friend of mine who was a few years older than me told me that when you go to uni, you have to butter up the professors. Back then, I thought that was kind of absurd, but after becoming a uni student, I can see why people do that.
