  1. Update, after restarting with only one memory module in the A1 slot, the post code is now randomly going back and forth between 54 and 55.
  2. New build, never posted. R9 7950x CPU Asrock X670e Taichi Carrara Motherboard EVGA Supernova P+ 1300 PSU G.Skill 64GB Trident Z5 RGB 6000, 2x32 RAM Zotac RTX 3090 This is a new build I've slowly been working on over the last week. Finally booted it up last night, no post. GPU, RAM, fans and mobo All turn on and light up, and at first the post code displayed a 15, goes through several other post codes, then landed back on 15. It stay like that for several hours before I did a BIOS Flashback to get the most recent BIOS version that wasn't in beta. Now it displays a post code 43, but slowly counts up. It seems to stay on 52. I've tried reseating the RAM, rearranged the RAM, reinstalled the CPU, checked the cooler and switched out the mounting bracket, tried without a GPU, checked all the PSU cables, no changes. Asrock documentation suggests it's a memory of CPU issue, and I've heard about there being some issues with AM5 memory at faster speeds. Any help would be appreciated!
  3. Alright, so I've tried the above, running the bios at default settings except I changed the ram frequency to 3000 instead of auto (still 200 under the suggested speed). Unfortunately it still crashed the first time I tried to render. Any other ideas? Maybe it has something to do with my new monitor?
  4. What is IMP, and what's straining it? I'm pretty new to the enthusiast crowd. Yes, I'm running 16Gb in 4 dimms.
  5. Is XMP the AI Overclock Tuner menu? I hear about XMP all the time but I always thought it was only for specific motherboards.

I recently made upgraded my monitor to an AGON 1440 Super Ultrawide 49" and upgraded my RAM from 32Gb Corsair 3000 kit to a HyperX 64Gb 3200 kit, and since then, more and more frequently my computer will freeze while beginning a render. The audio from any music or video continues for several minutes, and eventually stops. I thought it might have been a RAM issue, so I switched back to my Corsair Vengeance 32Gb 3000Mhz kit. It doesn't freeze as often or in the same way, but it has started to blue screen with a "DPC Watchdog Violation". I've switched back to the 64Gb HyperX kit for now. Any help would be appreciated! This has been happening for a few weeks now, I updated the BIOS, Drivers, Windows updates, and it is still happening. Temperatures stay below 70 even under heavy load. AMD Ryzen 9 3950x ROG Strix X570-E (BIOS: 2606, 8/13/2020) 64Gb HyperX 3200 RAM MSI Ventus Geforce 2070 Super (Driver version: 456.55 9/28/2020) (I don't think it is OC'd but I don't know much/anything about that, other than adjusting the ram frequency and running the performance utility in the BIOS.

  10. I was a little concerned about my temperatures over the last day, so I switched out my Air cooler for a 360 AIO. The CPU is still pretty okay on idle, (High 30s) decent with a few things running (low to mid 40s), but under heavy load, it's getting up to high 80s. Any suggestions on what I've done wrong? Currently have a total of 6 chassis fans + 3 on the radiator. Radiator fans are side mounted with air pulling in through the rad. Three more intake fans are mounted at the bottom, and 1 rear exhaust fan, and 2 top exhaust fans.It's also prettyloud, but I'm less worried about noise. Ideally I'd like to not have temps above 70 under load.   11. Glad to know the temperatures are okay. I don't know much about adjusting the fan curves(I know where to go in the bios to do it, but not really what's best), but I will do some research. What about the PPT, CPU Power, TDC and EDC numbers? Shouldn't these be something less than 90+ percent? Or is that expected?
  12. Thanks for the reply! That's good to know about the idle temps, but what about under load? How can I find out what is causing the CPU usage and temperatures to spike so much harder than before?
  13. Hello! I just finished building my first rig for 3D and animation, and the temps are a little concerning. I'm fairly new to hardware and PC building, so I apologize if I get anything wrong or don't explain it very well. In my previous i5 build I would have idle around 38c with a few apps running, (mostly Chrome) and stay under 70c while rendering in most cases. I knew to expect this chip to run a little hotter, but now I'm am idling at the low 40s (with nothing running except Ryzen Master to get numbers), averaging mid to high 50s with only a few apps running (mostly Chrome) and high 70s when rendering. My CPU Cooler cranks up super high (Im not sure how to check the speed under load), and the CPU jumps up to 100% for even the simple scene I was using as a test. I downloaded Ryzen Master and tried to learn more about power consumption and voltages, but it's over my head, so I was hoping someone could help me understand what I've done wrong. I'm super excited for this rig's potential and hate to see it get squandered because I'm new to PC building. I took some screen caps of Ryzen Master to show what I'm talking about, I'm pretty sure that those gauges shouldn't be maxing out like this for a very simple render, but I'm not really sure I understand what they are for.   14. Glad to hear the 3950X is a good choice. I've got a Corsair CX750M PSU at the moment. I had no idea VRAM didn't stack, so I guess I don't understand what the goal of running more than a single GPU is. I'll definitely have to learn more about how people are able to render animation in Full HD on GPU without running out of memory. Getting more RAM to render on CPU isn't a big deal, but yeah, it's exponentially slower. That's an unfortunate choice to have to make. Thanks for the advice though, that definitely helps make some decisions.
  15. I'm not using any nvme at the moment, I hadn't looked into it too much, I only recently moved my OS to an SSD, I'll have to research how that works! Thanks!

New user here, looking for some suggestions on an upgrade path: Current build: i5-8400 2.8GHz CPU, RTX 2070 Super 8GB, 32 Gigs DDR4, Windows 10 Budget & Location: $1500 US Aim: 3D Modeling & Animation, but an allowance for a great gaming experience on occasion, Overwatch, TF2. Gaming is lower priority. Monitors: Currently running a 1920x1080 74Hz Monitor, and a secondary 1920x1080 60 Hz Monitor. Will eventually want to upgrade to 4K monitors, but that isn't in the pipeline. Peripherals: None to purchase right now. Why are you upgrading? I'm upgrading to increase the speed and quality of my renders, and to move into doing animated shorts. I've just started learning Blender, but I primarily use Daz Studio with the Octane plugin so I can optimize my GPU's rendering. A little while ago when I tried to render a relatively short animation on the GPU, it ran out of memory, and I had to cut almost everything out of the scene other than the two figures and a small background. I'd like to be able to do full animated shorts of high quality eventually, so it's time to look at upgrading. I'm looking to move to AMD and will probably grab the Ryzen 9 3950x, but I'm a little lost on motherboards. I'd like to be able to run dual GPUs so I don't run out of VRAM anymore, but I don't know what would be necessary for this, or if I'm just not configured correctly. I really don't want to have to build anything from the ground up. Is this the best card for what I'm doing, or is it overkill? Since this is more of a workstation than a gaming PC, I should be focused on more threads and not GHz, right? I'm terribly new at all this, any help would be appreciated, thanks!
