  1. Hi everybody, So I'm starting college this coming september and I am looking for a laptop. After looking around, I'm thinking of either going with a Thinkpad (x250 or t450s) or the Dell XPS 13 or the Macbook Pro Retina 13. Now most of the time I will probably be working but I think I would also like to enjoy the occasional game of Dota 2 or CS:GO. I also highly value build quality and because of this the Mac is very attractive. Unless there is a compelling reason to switch, however, I would prefer to stick with Windows. Firstly, how do the x250/xps 13 run these games when compared to the Mac? (Since the mac has intel 6100 vs 5500). Secondly, from my experience, Macs hold up pretty well in terms of wear. I don't really want to end up with a cheap looking, battered laptop 2 years down the road. I know that these window machines have not been out for 2 years but for those who own them: how have they held up? Thirdly, i have a surface pro 3. Would the upgrade from it to these machines be worthwhile in terms of graphics performance? Do you guys think I would be better off waiting for Skylake (iirc that's the next iteration)? Thanks a lot.
  2. I love the Z2 screen. I love dbrand because they sponsored this video.
  3. Nope. Not everybody games and Macbooks have amazing build quality. The MBA now starts at 899/999 ish so compared to many Windows Ultrabooks they are a few hundred cheaper.
  4. I love the high-resolution screen! Man, 1440p...
  5. I looove the build quality of the M8
  6. Grados would be solid. Which Grado depends on your budget, though.
  7. Hey I just recently got an AT2020 USB+ from Audio-technica. My problem with the mic is that the sound is...a bit off. I have heard samples online which sound amazing. When I plug in my headphones to the microphone it sounds good(through the feedback) but when I try to record something it is a bit off (the sound is not uniform - it sounds like it goes back and forth between the left and right speaker). Any ideas? I have attached the sample file I recorded with my guitar. This gets worse when I sing + play guitar at the same time. I have also noticed that the louder I play the worse this becomes. EDIT : Fixed it...sorry guys
  8. I am using the P2314H and in my opinion it is an excellent monitor. I have not used the U series though but mostly the specs are the same and this monitor uses an AH-IPS panel instead of the e-IPS used in the U2312HMs
  9. So I'd be safe to assume it's a hardware problem? Hmm... time for RMA I guess
  10. See when I plug it into my laptop it worked... initially. So it couldn't be a hardware problem could it?
  11. I started a topic in the Audio subforum about my Blue Yeti apparently malfunctioning. I initially thought it was a software issue but I then changed my mind after various software tweaks did not work out. But now that I have plugged my Blue Yeti into my laptop, it works - only during start-up and a few seconds after going into Windows. So I now know that it is definitely a software issue... http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/117242-blue-yeti-troubleshooting/ - Here is the original thread. Any ideas?
  12. UPDATE: Audacity recognized the Yeti but the sound still came through as muffled. UPDATE 2: I plugged it into my laptop and suddenly it worked... for a few seconds (one time before loading into Windows and another time a few seconds after loading into Windows). Then it became the same unusable mic it was. So it is definitely a software problem. Ideas?
  13. Still my other mics work in other programs but the Yeti does not... could this be a hardware problem?
  14. I am not sure about the settings in Audacity. Where do I check correctly if my microphone is working or not? Also with the built in Microphone Test, my other mic worked but not my Yeti
  15. With Skype Call Testing Service, I can hear my own voice but it is very faint and muffled. With Audacity, it does not recognize my Blue Yeti.
