We'll have a schedule out closer to the expo! I expect most of our officially scheduled games/tournaments/challenges to revolve around LAN friendly titles; free/inexpensive, mid/low spec requirements and offline LAN multiplayer or easy to host online lobbies.
BYOC attendees are encouraged to find games to play outside of the official schedule and do their best to 'rally the troops' if they want to get a lobby going. In addition to scheduled tournaments and challenges we'll also have some "game of the hour" suggestions where we'll host lobbies or get people to provide a few lobby codes to everyone to make it easy to join a match with other LAN attendees!
Java Edition, it tends to be less buggy and it's the go to version for modding. And if you're thinking about the Bedrock Edition for its controller support, it has massive unplayable deadzones so just forget it. The benefits of the Bedrock Edition are cross platform play and higher render distances, and that's about it.
Here's one I threw together in a different thread. They sounded set on a GPU so I overspecced the PSU for that one. There's still no case in the list, but it'd let you guys pick that. 5600g would be a pretty good option until they decided to get a GPU later, if they did. Same thing with the CPU cooler and storage. Leaves $380 for peripherals. I tend to over spend on peripherals so I wouldn't trust me to pick budget options for those.

The motherboard has a USB flash feature if it doesn't ship with the proper bios. An aftermarket cooler isn't really necessary for strictly gaming, so the 5600G will be fine here, and the PSU is easily ready for something like a 6600 XT in the future.
The CPU has an iGPU which should be plenty for minecraft. You can put in a graphics card later if your daughter need more graphical horse power later down the line. I would either put a 6600xt or 3060 on to it.
Monitor is not a good option. Rather a bit pricier, yet much better Gigabyte G24F-SA
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/Cnwypg/gigabyte-g24f-sa-238-1920x1080-170-hz-monitor-g24f-sa
60Hz really is bad, at that price point especially.
Gigabyte G24F-SA is 170Hz
In some respects it's the most important element for a great experience...
You aren't gonna get a GPU new that's better than the iGPU in the 5600G. You might be able to get a used GTX 1060 in that price range, but it would be extremely overpriced, and for Minecraft and Roblox the 5600G's iGPU is fine.
Minecraft can use quite a bit of ram if you want it too. I wouldn't recommend getting less than 16GB. I would go with what @Forleb said. Maybe just switch the SSD with a nicer one with dram. Some recommendations:
ADATA XPG GAMMIX S11 Pro
ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro
Mushkin Enhanced Pilot-E
Since it's for your daughter, not sure if she'd notice a difference, but why not get her something nice. I would recommend going for a 1TB version because they tend to be faster than their small capacity counterparts.
It's actually low enough power draw that it won't suffocate and die immediately, but the entire platform, case & power supply are 100% proprietary. You'd probably get 2 years out of it before something fails from cooking itself in a case that was impressively designed to match the size AND airflow of a microwave - and that's with their equally terrifying coolers that literally hit 50+ dBA on an i5.
Just got my 6800XT installed. I know AMD and NVidia released some T H I C C bois this gen, but wow. Seeing it side by side with my last card is something else.
I don't know if Linus is watching this thread, but thank you. I've been actively trying everything I can do to get my hands on any card I could for months and never got close to getting anything.
You can't buy a GPU but you can help out a local business. Here are our favorites in Metro Vancouver, feel free to put your local favorites below.
Also apologies for the formatting, I got sent way to many recommendations by people in the office and it would take me forever to fix it all.

SSD or Solid State Drive is a storage device containing non-volatile flash memory, used in place of hard drive because of its much greater speed. Unlike a hard drive, a solid state drive doesnt have any moving parts. It has two main components - A flash controller and NAND flash memory chips.
More information on solid state drives can be had from here..
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solid-state_drive
This guide differentiates SSDs in different tiers based on their DWPD, sustained writes, controllers and NAND types.
Make Ctrl + F your Best Friend...
NOTE - MANY MANUFACTURERS ARE REPLACING THE KEY COMPONENTS OF SSDS (CONTROLLERS & NAND FLASH) WITH INFERIOR COMPONENTS WITHOUT INFORMING THE GENERAL PUBLIC. THIS LIST IS BASED ON THE COMPONENTS (CONTROLLERS & NAND FLASH) THAT THE SSD CAME WITH AT THE TIME OF LAUNCH.
Hey guys just want to put out a warning for Samsung magician's latest update 6.2.1
It was causing my PC to freeze under load. I'm not sure if this was only me or if others are going to have issues too.
I have the SSD 970 Evo 1TB NVMe and SSD 860 Evo 1TB sata.
I fixed the freezing by uninstalling Samsung magician then reinstalling Samsung magician's older 6.1.0 version.
Hopefully this post saves some people a lot of time. I've been troubleshooting all day LOL
Time to start folding again for the event .

I like how they play it off as a demand and not supply issue. They are directly correlated.
Next time I drive over the speed limit and get pulled over, I'll tell the officer that the issue is with their limits, not my speed.
