Hey everyone! Just got my screwdriver today!
Wanted to share my experience, especially to those who ordered their screwdrivers from non US/Canada addresses and especially to the Philippine fans who are having doubts on ordering due to possible delivery challenges. With that, I'm from Cebu, Philippines btw

I've really been eyeing LTT's screwdriver since it was announced and have been avidly following/watching updates/videos of it. That's why when It was dropped, I just said to heck with it, I'm buying one. Honestly have doubts about ordering due to where I am. There have been recommendations in using proxy delivery services like shippingcart but their rates are absurd, you can almost buy a new screwdriver for their rate; and honestly would prefer direct shipping since user experience I found on reddit are really bad.

Anyway, with my to heck with it mentality now active. I was part of Wave 3. Screwdriver+Bits cost me 76.98USD and another 17.99USD for shipping(Total: 94.97USD). My ordered got fullfilled October 22, 2022. Packaged arrived today January 03, 2022

Packaged was delivered by PHLPOST; our country's post-office
As expected, the delivery dude asked for payment for the customs fees; and was really surprised that I only got to pay about 112PHP(about 2USD). With that package took about 73 days to reach my hands.

    OTHER REMARKS:
-For reference, I had my screwdrivers delivered to our office address. No call/text from PHLPOST, the delivery man just arrived and fortunately I was at the office. That being said, I received my package on the first attempt and was fortunately at the office; not sure if they'll reach out if I was not
-Package surprisingly looked great. The only thing not in place I guess is the default screwdriver set disloged from its slot and the bits inside were a mess(likely due to the magnet bit since the bits where stuck to it)
-Not LTT's fault, just highlighting this first, but the Wizmo tracking is super inaccurate; checking it now; it still says my package is in Canada haha.  Reddit comments shed better light on this in which there's an actual more details method to view the status of the delivery. Wizmo says Canada, but checking it actually shows it did arrive in PH way back December 01, 2022. Basically, it took about 1 month locally in PH to ship my order to my address.

I am posting this to hopefully lessen doubts of PH Fans who wanted to order in LTT store 😄

Just talking about the OS itself: The Apple ecosystem is top notch; integration very seamnless; in a lot of cases you do NOT need to install anything, built in right into the OS; if you have multiple apple devices, then you might want to hold out on switching. That's coming from me an windows/linux(CentOS)/android user

Also consider if you're comfortable switching to android; because that's another learning curve that you might not want to experience.

    Shouldn't be tbh

not noticable, I'd say max 10% either way

i think there would be issues if you had like four sticks and some were doubles some differents speeds and such but really you may not worry about it - all is fine

That's common practice and may affect perfomance but in matter of a couple percent

No need to buy new stick to replace this one just because of density

Legit! was it a fluke from anouther universe?)

i think its only going to be a massive bottleneck if its ryzen. Intel the bottleneck will exist but it will be minor probably not noticable.

I missed that video.  It’s bearded Linus so it can’t be much over a year or two old.  How did I miss it?! Seems like one of their more critical ones even.

according to the video even really big guns can’t quite explain all the behaviors from game to game.  Apparently the machine runs.   If it runs it runs. I don’t know what it would do.  If it runs you can test it though.  I am curious as well though I don’t forsee full on functionality problems myself.

    Hey guys! Quick question

TL'DR: Should I be worried that I have different RAM Densities installed on my system?

    Long version:
Just recently i've bought a Lenovo Legion 5 with the ff. base specs:
    CPU: i7-10750H
    RAM: 8GB
    DISK: 512GB NVMe SSD
    GPU: RTX 2060

During said purchase. I've requested an additional stick to make it 16GB. It's all working well so far.
But just recently: I also saw this video:
Video mentioning how RAM density is affecting performance

Now this made me curious of my system. I did further digging on the RAM that was added to my system:
    >The original 8GB stick that my machine has a density of 1Rx8, while the additional stick was running 1Rx16
    >Besides that, all the other RAM specs are the same; timings based on speccy show the same values as well; both are 3200MHz, same brand: Kingston (but as per checking, different chip manufacturer)
    >RAM stability test tools, so far output no issues, and I am able to 100% utilize my RAM (Lenovo Vantage software has a RAM checking tool, I also run a few memory tester, software based tho, which I honestly forgot the names, i'll get back to you on them if you need them)

So with that, here are my questions:
    1. Are there any significant issues that this setup causes? Objectively, my games run fine, no stutters (so far)
    2. Are there any significant performance drops that I may encounter with this setup? How significant is it?
-I cant seem to find any videos/articles that have tried to benchmark/test this kind of scenario. Usually, what is shown to me are videos/articles regarding mixing different RAM speeds, amounts etc. but not mixing based on ranks.

    PS:
-I am considering in the future to buy paired  RAM sticks (reason why i did not buy this during laptop purchase is due to component shortage in our country, as well as during my pre-purchase research, Lenovo Legion 5 does not offer in the BIOS enabling XMP profile, which I also verified in my system, even with a BIOS update)
-I did not do the upgrade, it was the vendor of said laptop (not sure it matters, but the vendor is also Lenovo Certified Service Center)

Appreciate your thoughts people! Thank you!

have you one through a recent windows update? Sometimes update files are left by the system
You can check it in Storage Settings (just search for it @ start)

The view should show you a general view on your storage utilization.
To delete temporary files, just click Temporay Files and delete files as required.

You can also use a 3rd-party software WinDirStat to further help you pinpoint storage usage.

Should be fine as long as the drive path steam is looking for is the same between the machines so it can detect the games.

    I'd add:
    4. Able to run a CPU stress test like Aida64 to determine just how bad the overheating is. On gaming laptops, overheating is almost a given to some degree, but there's a big difference between 'the palm rest gets kinda warm under load' and 'there is now a 737 taking off inside my living room'.

can you provide more details on your setup? specifically complete IP addressing and a diagram would be nice.
Considering you cant access it locally, it could mean an issue with your vNIC configuration/setup

@Darkseth  just to clarify, never said it was a placebo. Heatsinks still work of course. My main point is that the design is very inefficient.

Also note that the output end of your windstrip is not even exhausting on the center. Where the heatsink is.

and for your point no 2. I believe it's on all laptops right? Who wants their laptop running 100% all the time. Im just saying that it is quite likely that this macbook air version will likely die earlier. Though I'm sure apple has set thermal thresholds to throttle the CPU (that still a sad thing though)

Anyway my main point in my post was just really:
    1. it's inefficient cooling design and would likely thermal throttle early
    2. and would personally Recommend to the user to skip this release/version of the macbook air.

I'd go with Gigabyte as well. I already have a number of experiences with MSI hardware in general in the past (laptops, motherboards and gpu), and yeah, probably they have improved their hardware and QA. BUT not taking any chances haha

In terms of customer service , especially direct ; i mean almost all brands have an issue with this. Also depends where you are, MSI may have good CS there, but not here. etc.

As what @Jurrunio says. Though I would NOT recommend using any tool to pry/pick/peel of the thermal paste. Always use a solvent, get the 99% isopropyl one
