tank234 got a reaction from Slayerking92 in Windows was moved to different HDD
    Hello,

1 year ago I installed a ssd, and reinstalled windows on that ssd. Everything went smoothly with no issues. It worked for around 11 months until my pc suddenly restarted itself, I thought nothing of it because it booted into windows all by itself. The wallpaper was changed but I did not think much of it. I realized that it started to work really slow even though it was supposed to be on a ssd. I went to retrieve one of my files I needed for work, and it was not there anymore. I then checked task manger to see if somehow windows had switched over to my old hdd where windows had  been installed. And to my surprise the Hdd was working  much harder than any of my other drives and I realized that the ssd was doing nothing. Does this mean that windows had somehow switched back to my old hdd? I checked Administrator tools in the control panel and can only see that only one os is currently active and my ssd version of windows was not there. So what do I do? Somehow it switched over to my old hdd, should I reinstall windows onto the ssd? Because it has all the windows files on it already?

Try going in to your BIOS and selecting your SSD as the boot drive.

And, Windows does not select which drive to boot from. It’s the motherboard/BIOS that does it. So there’s no way Windows “switched” over to the hdd.

Well do you have windows installed and your boot drives properly configured?

as for the kraken, I wouldn't worry about that for now, but check that The headers on the cpu block are all properly plugged in.

looks good but I would change out your psu for something like a 450w or 500w psu. 600w is a bit overkill for this build.

I do not think that you can use the key from the laptop as it will most likely be a oem key and be locked to the laptop. You can find key for a fairly low price like $20 online from websites like kingwin and there are some other websites but just can't think of them right now. You can even not activate windows and still use it but with a little watermark at the bottom of your screen. Here is a article on this.

So since this is a new build windows has not set the drive up. What you will need to do it go into create and format hard disk partitions, then you will see a drive that says unallocated space click on it and create a new simple volume and go through the setup here is a vid.

most people use "bottleneck" to describe when a component of your PC is holding you back, whether it's in some game or application.

However it's so dreadfully overused, and misunderstood. It's best not to use the word at all really, because computers are very complicated and often can't have blanket statements about their performance applied. When someone asks if they are going to have a bottleneck, you need to find out what games they are going to play and how they will play them, but many people will answer the question of a bottleneck when all the OP has done is list hardware.

a 2080 ti for 1080p is pretty unnecessary, but I guess if your friend is upgrading to a 3090 and you're getting that 2080 ti for free/cheap then I guess why not.

It was before the $1200 stimulus check, and ended shortly after they started sending those out. I think they just ran out of stock for them.

Best part is... if the new releases are out of your budget range you can try and get some 20xx cards on a discount.  Just make sure you don't wait too long because retail stock will run out and you'll be stuck with eBay for last-gen stuff.
