  1. Budget (including currency): 600 CAD

    Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: GTA 5, beam ng, car games, sim games

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 3060ti, 1000w corsair psu, 1440p at 144z

Hey everyone, I have been out of the PC loop for quite a long time now, but I am back into playing games and I noticed when I play games my PC isn't really pushing out the best fps it can, anymore. The PC is fine when I use it for light gaming here and there but ever since I upgraded from a 1050ti to a 3060ti it has become pretty laggy I don't know if it is being bottlenecked in any way I have an i7-8700 non k which I do remember I delidded and added liquid metal so I am not sure it could be throttling itself because I do get blue screens but very rarely. 16gb ddr4 memory and a dell motherboard. I think my PC is an XPS 8930 but with a different psu and GPU. I have a 1000w psu, I know overkill but I got it for free lol.

Is it worth upgrading? I'd like to use the 3060ti I got for now and upgrade the motherboard, CPU, memory, CPU cooler, and case. Anything better than what I have now in a $600 budget or is it just best to start from scratch and build something new? I would like to use it for like 5-6 years like my current build. The setup I have right now is pretty decent but it just can't handle 60 fps at 1440p max settings in any game.

  2. Hello,

1 year ago I installed a ssd, and reinstalled windows on that ssd. Everything went smoothly with no issues. It worked for around 11 months until my pc suddenly restarted itself, I thought nothing of it because it booted into windows all by itself. The wallpaper was changed but I did not think much of it. I realized that it started to work really slow even though it was supposed to be on a ssd. I went to retrieve one of my files I needed for work, and it was not there anymore. I then checked task manger to see if somehow windows had switched over to my old hdd where windows had  been installed. And to my surprise the Hdd was working  much harder than any of my other drives and I realized that the ssd was doing nothing. Does this mean that windows had somehow switched back to my old hdd? I checked Administrator tools in the control panel and can only see that only one os is currently active and my ssd version of windows was not there. So what do I do? Somehow it switched over to my old hdd, should I reinstall windows onto the ssd? Because it has all the windows files on it already?

You'll need a different board for a different type of panel most likely. Also it really REALLY isn't worth the money. Replacing a broken panel alone is way too expensive in most cases when you account for the panel cost + shipping from China. Upgrading is also not worth it because you'll not only need the new panel but a compatible controller board and (maybe) a new power supply depending on what the power requirements of the new panel are. So in short - just buy a new monitor. The juice ain't worth the squeeze.

What monitor would you suggest buying? I don't have a set budget. But would like a monitor like this one.BenQ EW2740L A-MVA 27-inch LED Monitor w/ 2x HDMI and MHL: Amazon.ca: Computers & Tablets

  4. Sorry if I put this in the wrong place, but I have this Benq EW2740 27 inch 1080p 60hz monitor and it's fine but I want to know if it is possible to find a similar panel but with a higher refresh rate and higher resolution and just use the same frame but replace the inside? Kinda like this...

I know this sounds stupid and is a waste of time but my current monitor has the right settings and functions and I don't like other monitors. Is this possible to do? Or will this just not work at all?

  5. I think they are rumored to be released on November 17th, they will most likely get sold out in a couple hours. I would get something from ebay because if you can wait the prices for the 2000 series will most likely be reduced. Or if you don't absolutely have your mind set on Nvidia you may be able to get your hands on the new AMD RX 6000 series when it releases and if i've heard correctly they are claiming to be better than 3000 series and they are supposed to be cheaper, but I am not too sure.
