I completely missed the Thunderbolt 3 necessity! haha sorry!

In all seriousness, though,  it's waaaaay more than a step-up from anything from iBuyPower.... I have fixed/upgraded a lot of pre-builts in my day; iBuy and CyberPower are 2 of the worst I have ever had to perform surgery on.

I went from the Athlon to the Ryzen 3 3200G and finally to a 5 3600. the Athlon is complete junk compared to the Ryzen 3 3200G. I know it's just to tie you over, but for the extra $20-$30 the performance difference is night and day. Only thing would be thermals, but i highly doubt that would be an issue with the right fan curves.

you could also re-purpose that 3200G for some F@H

all-in-all, your build seems very solid; It's just the form factor is quite expensive.

Unfortunately, if your system is running fine with another CPU installed, that's most likely an issue with your 3600. I would try reaching out to AMD to see if there's any more troubleshooting steps you can take that you haven't tried yet. If you're convinced that your CPU is broken, you can try applying for warranty service on AMD's website.

You have successfully justified the 3700x.  😆

Tomahawk MAX is an AWESOME board that is a revision of one of the best available b450 boards. Main difference is supporting higher memory speeds BUT...
x470 Gaming Plus MAX is an awesome board too, for a frew $$ more (USD it's $5 increase) - Just if you plan on overclocking or want 3 PCI-e x16 slots available vs. 2 on the Tomahawk.

Not going to argue with the 2080 - Good card.

Also make sure you have a good PSU. I would suggest 650-Watt AT LEAST 80-Plus Silver or Gold certified.

Agreed. AMD has been notorious for having driver issues even when branded as ATI (Especially with Linux). Pulled an All Nighter trying to figure out why my PC would BSOD when installing GPU drivers on a vertical GPU mount but not when installed direclty on the board.  Went as far back as V. 19.5 (i think). Come to find out, the Riser cable wasn't compatible with PCI-e 4.... i was about to go buy a 2060 Super but didn't want to give up because I LOVED the card

The kicker is that my board shipped with an old BIOS and would fail on a bios update with the card installed on the mount, so i had no option to force PCI-E 3.

I had EVERYTHING installed and didnt want to take it apart. All cable management was done, real PITA; The only thing i didnt test on the bench was the vert. GPU mount.

what a fun night that was.
