I don't use Sony but the focal length range you use depends on your intended use scenarios. Wildlife still covers a range of use cases. You'll have to look up reviews of the optical quality of both, if they are likely to satisfy you. Generally speaking the bigger zoom range models like the Sigma are more difficult to design to work over such a range and as such may not be as good, but can still be good enough. Also look up the weight of them. I still own a 300/2.8 which is a similar size class, and I don't find it fun to carry around for hours. If you're going to be mostly stationary with some weight support (monopod, tripod), that wont be a problem.

BTW if you think you want the range of the Sigma, but prefer the Sony lens, you might consider going 2nd camera. In my mobile setup I'd use a 100-400 as my main and have a 15-85 on a 2nd camera just in case.

Just talking about it is making me feel like I should get out more and use the kit again 😄

The rumors (these are unofficial, but from credible outlets) are that Apple introduces eight- or 12-core MacBook Pros as early as the spring. In other words, it'll be a lot faster than the M1, and that chip is already competing with maxed-out MBPs on raw CPU power.

GPU performance is a tougher call. I wouldn't say the M1 graphics are on par with the Radeon 5600M, but that rumored 16-inch MBP upgrade would also deliver a 16- or even 32-core GPU versus the 8 in M1-based Macs. And don't forget that Apple's optimization can go a long way. 3D modelling I'm not so sure about, but the current 13-inch MBP is already a champ for editing 4K video... I wouldn't be surprised if the 16-inch Apple Silicon model with an "M1X" (or whatever it's called) is a speed demon.

Well you said it right there. Your stuff doesn't work on it so unless it does by the time you get a m1 then there is no point. But then again you are stuck on a intel mac that is probably gonna be supported till 2022-2023 and then be ditched which sucks for a almost 4k config. Also a small tip but the i9 isn't really worth it due to cooling issues and the 6 core i7 performs very close if not identical to it especially in your tasks there it's gonna be almost identical but you save a heap of money. Unless you are doing crazy crazy renders 32gb is fine. I do 3d art on semi pro to pro level and I often forget I have been on 16gb ram for a month and a bit due to my other kit breaking :p.

Gaming is possible but as usual you pay a lot of money for not much laptop with apple and at best it's just a mid range gaming laptop/mid range laptop in every aspect now thanks to amd if you compare it to pc stuff. So sure 1080p 60fps gaming no issue higher don't bother.

To my knowledge, Big Sur is currently having issues with high resolutions (I haven't noticed this at all, but apparently it's present)

the gmmk is a nice board, quite sturdy, no flex, stays well in place  ... the lighting in it is bright and even but I don't use it so don't have much more to say about it ... there's a sound difference between when the feet are up and when they are down ... that's about all the thing I think ... there's not much more to say as the rest will mostly be determined by the swiches you put in it and the keycaps.

I don't have the drop ctrl so I can't talk about it much except that it was way more expensive than the gmmk and that's why I got the gmmk instead.

Really 1440p 240Hz would be way more balanced setup overall. More than enough for competitive gaming. Unless you completely don't care about resolution clarity and only max performance in fps games I guess.
    But yeah.

Resolution, 240Hz is pretty much overkill for anyone other than high end competitors, let alone 360 in which basically any game but the light esports titles will be CPU-limited.
With a 3090 I'd instead go large format 4K 120Hz instead, but then I might not play the same types of games.

You know your setup best. I'm around... 25 cm? from my monitor and it can take up most of my vision, but I see all of it, and my desk too. 24" is plenty big, you don't need bigger. It's just nice.

I recently got two identical keyboards with MX browns and reds. The linear reds feel horrible in normal use and the brown didn‘t have enough of a feedback for my taste. Returned both and waiting for a switch tester right now. You will get used to either and if I had to chose between reds and browns I would gobwith browns as getting used to reds would undoubtedly take me way longer.

Clicky ones are actually not that bad for gaming as I thought as they aren't really clicking all that much since you have keys pressed a lot of the time like in racing games or shooters. For typing, it's like I have 100 pigeons in my room hammering corn on a keyboard. You get used to it, but it's hard to just ignore it entirely. Good middle ground are tactice that still give decent feedback on what is happening with the key. Linear ones are imo the worst. They feel the same till very end and they just end up feeling mushy with only feedback being key bottoming out which makes you tapping keys harder subconsciously so they always travel till the feedback point. Maybe some like it, I rather have clicky one in the end since these are the most prevalent type followed by tactile. Linears seem to be the least popular in general.

There something you should know about Logitech G915 though, it use a very low profile keycaps which make typing quite dificult. I am using one right now and it took me nearly half a year before I getting used to it (having an almost flat keycaps mean that you will need to adjust a lot of your typing memory), although your milage may varies. Kailh choc also have a very limit selection of aftermarket keycap, if you want to switch to PBT along the line, that's going to be a huge issue.

Also, just a minor nip pick, Kailh Choc doesn't offer blue switches, their clicky option is actually white.

Long travel maybe feels better but short travel definitely helps with games (no matter how small it is).

Click is just a sound, it alone doesnt affect anything but noise.

Tactile gives you a bump (so the rebound pressure suddenly reduces a lot in the.middle of the stroke, letting your finger sink down quickly) while linears do not. I dont feel affected in speed but some say it does, however they do feel very different and when typing on linear, those who dont press keys all the way down all the time may suffer from keys not registering (i.e. didnt press deep enough)

The fact that the 360hz costs the same is really a waste of time.
I would just grab the G7 or even a 27GN950 and call it a day.....

Harit Paurana reacted to reicek in Alienware Aurora R11 3080Ti Upgrade Possible?
    Hey @Harit Paurana!

I have an Aurora R11 and from what I read it's not what you are looking for, it's just too small for that much power/heat properly. It works great for single cards though.

Another issue is that the chassis was not optimized to be easy to be upgraded later on, they provide detailed steps and if you take a look it's so nice:
    https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/us/en/19/alienware-aurora-r11-desktop/alienware-aurora-r11-service-manual/removing-and-installing-components?guid=guid-7fbb11d7-9820-47bb-afaa-48fa912314d9&lang=en-us

If you want that level of maximum overkill you will have to go for a custom built, I recommend Thermaltake's Level 20 HT chassis, it can hold a large dual liquid cooling system so you properly cool the processor with one and the GPUs with the other, you will also have plenty of space to manipulate:
    https://www.thermaltakeusa.com/level-20-ht-snow-chassis.html

Another plus is that R11 custom internal components are not visible, so they are not designed to be "flashy", you can get much better components that also look cool and that chassis will put it all in full display.

I bought the R11 since it packs a lot of power in a very small form factor and also for Dell's warranty.

Even if you moved the internal components of an R11 to an 20HT chassis (+ custom dual liquid cooling) you would get a performance bonus due to the great improvement on heat disipation. You would notice the difference on long gaming sessions.

This is a pic of my R11, the liquid cooling is limited to the grill you see on top, it's just right for my build but it would definetely struggle with the one you are looking for. You will have fans running at full speed and making a lot of noise.

I mean they are both OLED and I think the ROG phone also has a 10 bit panel. If you really want the uber high refresh rate experience then the ROG phone is fine I suppose. If you want you can even enable 165hz mode via the adb.

Honestly, you don't need a "gaming" phone to play games. I have played games just fine on a crappy $100 LG phone. I would say look for a phone that has a good camera, good build quality, and good specs rather than one that's geared toward gaming, because you don't need beefy hardware to play mobile games.
