You need to enter the length of the buffer for scanf_s.

That would probably work. Im just more concerned there might be a deeper issue with my pc if just changing the fans in the bios causes boot issues. Thanks for the suggestion though I will try it out.

I do not know why does it prevent you from booting up. However, I can recommend using this software called Fan Control which lets you adjust your fan curves independently on each other or you can let the AI do the work. With this software, you can adjust almost all of your fans and there is no need to go to the BIOS to do so.

I mean, I am currently running an i7-2600 with a gtx 780, everything works just fine for my usecase, which is light gaming and programming. Keep in mind that these CPUs require DDR3 RAM, which is slower than modern DDR4 or DDR5 modules. Also, as they are older, they are not as power effective, so you will need to pay more for electricity. (depends of course)

Matttaj69 reacted to Mateyo7 in F1 2019 EGO Dumper error
    Hello,
I have owned the game F1 2019 for like year and a half and I hadn't experienced any sort of problems until I bought a new PC. It has much better specs and everything, everything runs smoothly so far. However, I have decided to download F1, as I felt like racing a bit, so I downloaded it (with no problems) and ran it. This was where I found out something was wrong. After 2 unsuccessful tries to launch the game with an "EGO Dumper" error window popping up I decided to restart my PC, bc I thought it might fix it, right? Well, it did not help at all and the error window keeps popping up everytime I launch the game. I read somewhere it might be caused by graphic card (RTX3060), which it supposedly has some problems with, but I am not 100% sure, as I'm no tech guy. I was wondering if any of you guys experienced such problem or could help me in any way?
    Thanks

It's from China. So. Likely an engineering sample. Take from that what you will.
It's not much good for anything other than server work, because of it's low clocks, and most people who have a server and want a part like that are looking for something more reliable. It'd be an interesting buy for someone who's doing non-critical work.

You should give the topic a more meaningful title.

In the past prices haven't really dropped. They've dropped a little but only to adjust for the increase in performance of the new generation. For example, the Super model range was only marginal more expensive than the "old" cards (without Super), but "bang for the buck" was the same or even a little better.

The prices of Nvidia cards have increased quite considerable in recent years. 1080 Ti did cost the same as the 2080, had more VRAM and basically the same performance (but no raytracing). Because of the current crisis, I would speculate the prices of the 3000 series will be the same as the previous generation, but with a performance increase of roughly 15% to 30%. Thus a 3080 will cost the same as a 2080 Super today, but it will be around 20% faster.
This is all speculation and we'll have to wait.

It's hard to say because it's highly both card-model, country and retailer (i.e. how many pieces they still have in stock) dependent.

I will make an example regarding the last generation:

In my country, the higher tier models (e.g. 1080 Ti) got an average 20% price drop in the timespan between the announcement of the RTX 20 series and the sale start (August 20th - September 20th). This was initiated by retailers in order to clear out the remaining stock. It shall also be noted that the 20% cut basically brought the price back to the initial MSRP of the cards (which was bumped by high demand from miners).

As of today the biggest retailers are already trying to reduce the stocks (especially of 2080 Ti) by reducing the price by 10% to different partner cards at different intervals.

For lower tier card is different and at least here there is usually no significant price drop for new items since these cards sell quite well (more people can afford them) and it's easier to clear out the stock; the technique is then usually kind the opposite, for a couple of months (or for the first stock) the retailers apply a price increase to the new products to make it more expensive than the older models: tech enthusiasts and people who can afford it will buy the new item anyway, while people that are on a budget will clear out the stock of older models.

Since the MB and PSU died we never tried to recover the images in the hard drive, I dont know even if i could plug it to my new pc (coming next week) to recover the things.

Oh btw! The GPU is an Nvidia 710GT since the other one died.

But with the older one i was able to play on high settings Need For Speed Undercover so yeah, i dont know which one was but it was an ATi Radeon.

You should be good then. And yes, the GT 1030 will work fine with the E8400. If you can swing it in the budget, either now or down the line, think about getting your hands on a Q6600 instead. It'll work perfectly fine with the Opti 760, and you can tape-mod it to run 3.0GHz without overclocking. That plus 8GB of RAM and you've got a capable little lightweight, ultra low-cost game box.

Matttaj69 reacted to aisle9 in GT 1030 in an optiplex 760
This will fit into any Optiplex 760 except the USFF. I think you have the SFF, which looks like a small square with a low-profile optical drive in front. There's also the MT, which is a full-on mini tower and not what you have, the DT, which is a somewhat smaller rectangle with a full-size optical drive in front, and the USFF, which looks like alien poop and has no expansion ports whatsoever.
If you bought it new, it should have a LP bracket. If it didn't, those are sub-$10 on eBay, just make sure you get the right ports in the right place.

Matttaj69 reacted to BlueChinchillaEatingDorito in GT 1030 in an optiplex 760
The GT 1030 is a short one slot card so it should have no problem fitting. Compatibility is dependent on whether or not your board has a full sized PCI-e slot and whether the version of Windows you have installed has a driver for the GPU (in addition to power supply requirements but that's not necessary for a GT 1030). In your case, everything should work out as long as you're running Windows 7 or newer.
