Follow up question. Can I then just have 2 hard drives 1 with my real stuff on it and one with just an o.s. and just turn it off and switch drives depending on what I want to do?

I assume that computer viruses usually are stored on your hard drive meaning that assuming toy don't care about the data you could just swap the drive reinstall an o.s. and be back operational. Is that true?
