Mario5 reacted to manikyath in Overclocking GT 730
    two things:
    - a GT730 is barely a GPU at all, so overclocking isnt gonna do much, if it's even gonna work at all because power targets.
    - minecraft java is HEAVILY cpu-tied.  you  can get hundreds of fps out of a gt640.

Yes, it could since the GPU will use less power and the power modules wont need to work as hard.

Leave only the CPU,GPU,RAM,CPU cooler and storage connected and try again. If you have another GPU or RAM you can try it and see if its a GPU/RAM problem. Try reseating the original GPU. If nothing helps might be your motherboard or CPU. Also this youtuber does a lot of PC repairs for his viewers I stopped watching him but I am pretty sure he had the same problem.

If you turn on dark mode on windows all of windows native apps will be dark mode, but for third party apps it wont unless they have dark mode wich you can turn on manually.

When you get to the account selector page (where selecting an option takes you back to the LTT homepage), can you:
Open the dev tools (F12) and switch to the network tab Dock the dev tools to the bottom if they aren't already (⋮ in the top right) Click the "Doc" filter in the network tab Select an account, then wait for all the redirects to finish Take a screenshot of the network tab, and send it to me in a PM (it's possible that it could contain sensitive info about the login flow, so please don't post it here) For each of the requests with a Domain of linustechtips.com, right click on the row -> Copy -> Copy link address, and include that in the PM too

Do you have an old laptop/PC that is just not doing it? Well I was in that situation with my ThinkPad x301 until i got ZorinOS. Here is my little review if you are thinking about the switch.
UI: Is really windows like and really easy to get into.
Software: Everything nowadays is avalible for ubuntu/linux so I had no problems with that. I even menaged to install some third party software with the terminal by just following a simple 2min guide.
Performance: I was really impressed with the performance boost! My CPU would idle at 75C and with Win10 but with ZorinOS even when watching yt videos it would not go over 60C wich is really good for this old laptop.
Overall: If you hate windows and want to switch to the "dark side" I recommend it. Of course it doesnt need to be ZorinOS there are a lot of other options like Linux Mint.

    ps. sorry for bad english

Mario5 reacted to da na in Why doesnt SLI trick the OS its just one GPU?
because that's not how it works, it has to split the load. How it works is each GPU is assigned a part of the workload/game by the driver that it must render, which wouldn't be able to happen with the OS recognizing only 1 GPU.

Mario5 got a reaction from maplepants in Is ZorinOS good for a begginer?
Installed ZorinOS got all of my apps and updates no problem. My CPU is much cooler (used to be 75C idle) and also faster since there is no background tasks chocking it. So far happy and satisfied how easy it is for a complete begginer, and was really impressed about the boot and shutdown times. ps. sorry bad english

Rather not, that toothpaste alone will damage the copper and the chip die/IHS on long-term use. I applied some toothpaste on the past on my old laptop and let it there for 2 years... I regretted it since.

Plus the fact it dries so fast.

Sometimes windows writes the bootloader wich is required to run windows on the HDD which may be your problem that your new HDD doesnt have it. A clean reinstall should solve the problem.

Mario5 reacted to zogthegreat in Cant open %appdata%
Hi @Mario5 I usually just hit the Windows key without the "R" and then I type %appdata%. What you can do is open a file explorer in Windows and  click on "File" and then select "Change folder and search options". A window will popup and then click on the "View" tab. From there select "Show hidden files and features" Close the popup window and the navigate to C/Users/your user name and you should be able to see your appdata folder.

Mario5 reacted to mariushm in PC stopped getting regular ethernet speeds.
The speed test page  picks a random test server as close to you as possible.
Figuring out your location just by your IP address isn't perfect so for example, the speed test page may give you servers that are hundreds of km or miles away from you.
Also, there may simply not be any test servers very close to your area.
Each time you load the page, you may get another test server, so you may get one test server on your PC and a different test server on your phone.
It could be that particular test server you got on your PC was used by lots of other people or had network problems or your ISP simply has a weak connection to that test server's ISP and  you got slow speeds
