Voltage seems high for 5GHz. It could degrade over time with that.

Have you thought about delidding it? Not only will it improve thermals by a lot, but you will probably be able to lower the voltages.

Ah yes, I have thought about this and honestly speaking am a bit scared of and error on my end trying to delid. But will def be an option in the future once I feel confident.

The good question is : how much perf do I gain going from 4.8ghz to 5.0ghz ? and is it worth it ?

    How about 4.9ghz ?

For 4.9 GHz I was able to get it to 1.345 with temps of 74-77

I say yes...cause by the time you fry it somewhere down the road...you'll be itching for a new rig anyhow.  I run my 8700k @ 5ghz on all cores all the time...sees +1.4v a lot!  I'm going to squeeze every drop of performance out of it while I have it.  This saves me money in the present cause I don't feel the need to replace it with a 9900k nor 3900x.  When it sh!ts the bed...I'll buy the latest and greatest whiz-bang cpu which will hopefully have far more performance...instead of just incremental improvements.

LOL, Just curious, how long have you had the rig?

Thanks for the replies btw ❤️

  2. i7 7700K @ 5.0GHz @ 1.392V (Despite me putting 1.380V in bios)

Temps at 100% load is around 85-88c

Don't ever hit those temps during games but not sure if that matters...

Or should I just settle for the 4.8GHz @ 1.30V and call it a day?

1.392 is the absolute lowest that i've seen it stable @ 5.0GHz.

Even at 1.37V I blue screen randomly after days of gaming out of no where.

    Any advice?
