  1. ran stress tests on both the gpu and cpu with furmark and unigine and there were 0 crashes
  2. mem test came back good, still at a loss for what the cause could be :/
  3. No I have not, I didn't think I would need to since I bought a brand new set of ram, do you have any suggestions for software I could use to run a test like that, and what would it tell?
  4. I built this computer about 2-3 months ago now, and originally these were my specs mobo: asus b450m pro gaming cpu: Amd ryzen 5 2600 gpu: Gigabyte 6gb gaming oc 5600 xt ram: G.Skill Ripjaws V series 16gb 2x8 ddr4 3600 psu: thermaltake smart 700 storage: kingston 225gb ssd the issue at hand is my computer randomly black screens and restarts completely on its own during use, the computer will freeze up in whatever im doing, the audio will tweak out a ton and boom black screen and restart. side note: the rgb settings that I have saved usually unset when it boots back up, I have everything set to purple but when this happens, its almost as if the mobo forgets the settings cause it goes straight back to rainbow default until I open my rgb software Since then I've gone through various replacements to try and fix the issue and it still keeps happening I replaced the cpu first of all with a ryzen 5 3600 cause I thought maybe it was bottle necking, didn't fix the issue I then added another ssd this time being a 1tb nvme m.2 because all I had was the 225 gb ssd which I thought might have been the issue, but wasn't I then replaced the ram with corsair vengeance rgb pro ddr4 3600mhz because it was not on the list of compatibility with my mobo, still didn't fix the issue and then I finally replaced the stock amd cpu fan with nzxt's kraken z63 aio which did indeed bring down the temps of the cpu which were sky high for some reason, reaching 90 at max and idling at around 70, which I was able to temporarily fix by running my computer on power saver mode until the new cooler came in and it. is. still. happening. I've narrowed it down to either the psu or the mobo, I'm thinking my best bet is replacing the mobo seeing as it only supports 1st and 2nd gen ryzen from what I can tell on the website seen here But I've updated the bios on this mobo which im not sure if that might have changed anything, allowing it to be compatible with 3rd gen or not but its worth mentioning Im at a loss for ideas here, and I'd rather not go out on a limb here and replace something else that might not need replacement so I was hoping you guys could lead me in the right direction, thank you! current specs mobo: asus b450m pro gaming cpu: Amd ryzen 5 3600 cpu cooler: Nzxt Kraken z63 gpu: Gigabyte 6gb gaming oc 5600 xt ram: Corsair Vengeance Rgb pro 2x8 ddr4 3600mhz psu: thermaltake smart 700 storage: Crucial P1 1tb nvme m.2 & kingston 225gb ssd
  5. I have the Asus Tuf B450m pro gaming mobo and it has an rgb light at the bottom right corner of the board but thats about all the lights i can see on my motherboard, im unsure if that's what you are talking about though
  6. So since moving the gpu down to the second pci-e slot the issue on boot after being off for a few hours or so is still happening, as well as crashes in game cause it to just close out unexpectedly, Idk whether its the mobo or the gpu or even the ssd seating, so im going to reseat the ssd today as you said and see if it makes a difference
  7. The only problem is I can't fit my card in the 2nd pci-e slot edit: I lied, I just had to unplug my usb 3.1 header to get it in there, im testing it as we speak
  8. I did disabled fastboot in windows prior to making this post but it didn't seem to help, although I didn't do in BIOS, but also its starting to lose display after boot now as well, I got into windows today and loaded up a game and before it could load entirely boom, I just lost display, and when I say I lost display I mean my monitor goes black and informs me that there is no signal from display port and it goes into sleep mode.
  9. So I updated the BIOS and it seems to have fixed the crashes in game, but the issue at hand is still in the mornings when i go for a fresh boot after it being off all night, it gives me the same issue with turning on and then shortly after losing display before booting windows, im going to try and reseat my ssd today and see if that helps, but the issue is only when the computer has been off for a while and I go to turn it back on again, thanks for all the help btw, I really appreciate it!
  10. when its at default which is 2133 its pretty stable, except for the startup issues I said before, not booting to windows on first boot, losing display, having to hold down the power button to restart, etc. I'm gonna try to run it at 2933 and see what happens, and as of the bsod, that only happens when i set the speeds above 2933 im guessing, because it only happened when I tried to set the speeds to 3200 and above
  11. If my set of ram is not on that list, would that be the reason for my crashes? The model number for the ram i have installed is F4-3600C16D-16GVKC, i do not see it on that list
  12. So I built my computer about 3 weeks ago(specs below) and ever since I completed my build, I've had issues with black screens on boot up, I'd turn on my computer id get the boot screen for my mobo which is tuf gaming for a brief 3 seconds, my peripherals would light up my monitor responds(obviously) and then boom, black screen, my peripherals are no longer lit and nothing is responding, at that point i have to power off the pc by holding down the power button until it turns off and turning it back on again in hopes it boots to windows, it usually does the second to third time, now this isnt the only issue, I also get black screens if my computer is idle for a long time, if i leave my pc for a while and it goes to sleep, it often wont wake back up lmao, it just stops responding, I'll click my mouse and type on my keyboard and it just doesn't wake up, at that point i have to repeat the process from before, but it ain't over, I often get crashes in game after gaming for about an hour, this isnt consistent but happens occasionally, At first I thought it had something to do with my gpu and its poor drivers considering its a 5600 xt but I'm not sure thats the case because of the issues when booting up my pc, I'm beyond confused and I need some help. mobo: asus b450m pro gaming cpu: Amd ryzen 5 2600 gpu: Gigabyte 6gb gaming oc 5600 xt ram: G.Skill Ripjaws V series 16gb 2x8 ddr4 3600 psu: thermaltake smart 700 storage: kingston 225gb ssd edit: Im not sure if this has much to do with anything, but I also had a hard time setting my ram to its rated speeds in bios when I first built it, I was able to set it to 3600 speeds but when I did I'd get bsod in windows, constantly, so i had to leave it at 2600 i believe, which was default, and it stopped.
