MyCPUIsOnFire reacted to Ashley MLP Fangirl in Linux HATES Me – Daily Driver CHALLENGE Pt.1
it doesn't say it's gonna delete your desktop, it says it's gonna delete <insert packages> and then its up to you to know that it's gonna delete the desktop.

i have about 8 years of linux experience, i've never seen a distro do ANYTHING like that before. Pop is a bad distro all round anyway but this just certified it in my mind.
it's also important to note that if you use a distro that isn't stupid, this doesn't happen.

@simon.gauvinMerged to video thread.
He did search for the issue and bypassing the warning was a solution found on the net, just not to the right problem. Totally realistic situation in the "new user" context.

That's not entirely correct,
Linux IS user friendly...
...it's just very picky about who its friends are 🤣

MyCPUIsOnFire reacted to JoseGuya in Apple redirects Google’s Safe Browsing traffic to its own servers in iOS 14.5
Summary
Apple redirects Google Safe Browsing traffic through its own proxy servers to prevent disclosing users’ IP addresses to Google in iOS 14.5
Apple’s privacy push is much more widespread than it seems at the surface. A perfect example is the new privacy feature in iOS 14.5 Beta 1 (V2) which redirects Google Safe Browsing traffic through Apple’s own proxy servers to enhance users’ privacy and to not let Google see your IP address.
Quotes
My thoughts
Well, if this increases user’s privacy I’m all for it. Apple already has my ip, among other private information, and preventing third parties for getting that info is good, I recon. How would Google take this “intervention” will definitely be interesting

Why. Just why. The warning has been out for three and a half years. That's plenty of time to upgrade your forms!
I guess this shows how far some people are willing to go not to change systems that already work.

Except it is broke - or rather, it (in the past) will break on a specific date.
So instead of fixing their service, they instead spent resources to re-enable flash instead.
I get it. It's bureaucracy at it's finest. I deal with this occasionally at work, but fortunately my boss is very much long term focused.

They had literally years to plan for this.
Why? Was it a budget problem? Because they had enough budget to release their own browser.
