  1. Hi All, Just wondering if anyone had any experience, I was thinking about getting the Dark Rock Pro 4? I just wasn't sure they would fit on the motherboard or have the right fittings for an i7-4790k and don't want to throw money away. This is the board, so you can see the RAM slots and VRAM cooling. Anyone got any experience of the coolers or board to know whether it will fit? Thanks,
  2. That's the one, thank you for taking the time to find it. I saw it when I googled, but htought, oh no that isn't the one the one I was looking at was for gaming....should have just watched the whole video on that occasion too. But thanks again! Top detective work.
  3. That isn't the one I am looking for, not sure about the OP. The one I am looking for is where Linus was playing on a weak machine, something that could not run SOTR, but was sending a signal from a machine that COULD run SOTR and using the weak machine to 'decode' the signal and thus play SOTR at good graphical levels on a weak machine. That video is just what is the best streaming service. But maybe I dreamed it.
  4. I would also say this... Part Picker is not always the best price for items. I noted that the MB I choose is $401 on New Egg, where it is priced at $467 here on PP. I also know that the LG 850 can be bought for about $469.99 which is another $30 cheaper than listed here. So use this site as a means to decide what to buy, but not necessarily to buy from the places they list. You may find you can save another $100+ simply by shopping around.
  5. I have added a top ranked 27" IPS, 1440p 144hz monitor, upgraded your CPU to the best available outside Threadrippers and I saved you a $1,000 to spend on keyboards, mouse and RGB lighting. I also downgraded your storage, you can buy another drive, but honestly, you have $1,000 to play with here, so you can re-add the important things like storage and RGB....smh...at a later date. 6. Do you need a capture card with this high end a machine? Or are you using it for some specific purpose? Also, you appear to be going very high end, then have a 1080p monitor. If you can post a link to your part picker, rather than a screen shot, could fiddle with the figures a little.
  7. Glad you posted this, I was looking for it as well.
  8. I took away some of your storage - you can add more later, and I came up with this build: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor €177.89 @ Mindfactory CPU Cooler be quiet! The difference in performance, from the quick look I did, was about 20-30fps for decent graphic intense games.
  9. 970s Yeah, I imagine the paste in them is prettty knackered by now. Can I, the most inept DIY man in the world, fix this? Should say they are Zotac cards with Heat Pipes in them. These ones: https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/gtx-970
  10. Can I say, to clarify, right to repair, is right to replacement parts too. If they can't repair it, they should replace it under the warranty. I was saying you couldn't return the whole PC.
  11. @Shimejii Buying a larger AIO just because you have money. I mean, do you need a larger AIO for the Ryzen 9 - 3950x? Will it impact on performance? Of course if you are overclocking, you want the best cooling, but if all you are doing is gaming on a 3950x and a 2080 Ti, are you going to need better cooling?
  12. "and possibly streaming" Also, I would like to correct myself, wrong board, the Cross VIII the first poster put up is fine, I was confusing it with a different board. My error. So many boards, so many names.
  13. I have not heard good things about that Hero VIII This says the Master is $467, but you can get it on New Egg for $401 with free shipping. https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-x570-aorus-master/p/N82E16813145155 So knock $67 off the price and you are at $3,000. Also, I was assuming you wouldn't be attempting to stream over wi-fi, so didn't look to see whether the board had it or not. I dumped the second storage device, because you say you have one anyway, and if it becomes a problem you can buy one later on. I also dumped the RGB water cooler, because...well I could, if you want to pay $20 extra for little lights then you can add it back. 14. I been trying to stretch the most I can out of my old GPUs, and it occured to me that the top most card gets hotter than the bottom card (in SLI). Likely because the bottom card is 1, not used as hard, and 2, even when it is, the heat it produces rises into the top card. It has been like this for 6 years, should I swap them around to give the top card a break and expose the bottom card to higher temps for a change? Bearing in mind that I am throttling the top card pretty easy at 80c I know, I have more and better fans being delivered tomorrow and hope that this helps lower the temps overall but considering I was going to have to have the machine out and up on a table to install the fans, I thought it might be worth taking the opportunity to swap the cards. Any problems that can arise from this? Apart from taking a card out of a slot for the first time in 6 years...
  15. Warranty is different to right to return, at least in the UK. Again, I can only speak to UK, but you have the right to return for a period if a product doesn't perform, isn't as described etc. However, a warranty is a right to repair, not a right to return. Given that you have had the product for 2.9 years, I know that a court in the UK would not uphold a right to return, but would uphold a right to repair.
