  1. Just to update in case anyone else has this issue. After reading more reviews on my Motherboard, I noticed a couple people complaining about the IO shield not fitting properly and noticed mine had the same issue. Basically, the IO shield was putting just enough pressure on the BIOS button to keep it engaged, which made the light constantly stay on. I removed the IO shield and tried it again, worked fine.
  2. I have an Asus TUF B550 Plus and a Ryzen 5 5600x. I am attempting to do the bios flashback with a usb. As soon as I plug in the power and flip the PSU switch the bios button is already flashing. So I plug the usb in and hold it for three seconds but the light does not blink any faster. I unplugged and redownloaded the bios update and am attempting it again, and the light is just steadily blinking, and when I held the bios button it did not blink any faster. I read online manuals but didnt really find a solution to my problem. I thought maybe the BIOS was already up to date but I tried booting it up and it didnt post. Would greatly appreciate any help!
  3. So I am trying to do a BIOS flash on my Asus B550 Plus MOBO. I've followed all the instructions, formatting the USB, renaming .CAP file, etc. When I plugged in the USB into the bios port and pressed the button, the green light just doesn't stop flashing, been going for over an hour. Sometimes it starts flashing quicker, then slows down but never stops flashing. Any advice? Can I just unplug the USB and try again or will that mess something up?
  4. Is it worth it going for memory with CL 16 vs CL 18? The cost difference is ~$35 The build I am planning on putting together: PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7ppmQD CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor ($300.00) Motherboard: Asus TUF GAMING B550-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard ($155.99 @ Amazon) Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory ($177.99 @ Newegg) OR G.Skill Ripjaws V 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL18 Memory ($144.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Samsung 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($139.99 @ Amazon) Video Card: EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 8 GB XC3 BLACK GAMING Video Card ($560.00) Case: Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case ($99.98 @ Newegg) Power Supply: SeaSonic FOCUS 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($104.99 @ B&H)
  5. Hi guys, Putting together a new build as soon as I get a 3070 and am looking to get a new monitor to go along with it. Thinking of 1440p 144hz refresh rate, with a budget of <$450 (US). Considering the Dell S2721DGF, LG 27GL850-B, and Asus VG27AQ however I am open to suggestions, especially if a cheaper monitor can be had without sacrificing too much performance. Thanks in advance
  6. Looks like it is the GX, which means I should go with the Seasonic. Thanks for your reply!
  7. Looking at two PSUs, the EVGA G1+ 650 and Seasonic Focus 650, both about the same price. The Seasonic is tier A on the PSU tier list but has an asterisk saying that some people experience tripping issues, while the EVGA is tier B with no problems noted. Both have good reviews on pcpartpicker, but the EVGA has more reviews. Any thoughts on which would be better? My planned build: GPU: RTX 3070 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600x RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB DDR4-3600 CL18 MB: Asus TUF GAMING B550-PLUS
  8. I will probably repurpose my HDD from the old build but I switched from the Western Digital model to the Samsung 970 evo. Found a Seasonic Focus and EVGA G1+ for a similar price. The Seasonic is tier A but has an asterisk saying that some people experience tripping issues, while the EVGA is tier B with no problems noted. Any thoughts on which would be better?
  9. Budget (including currency): <$2000 including new monitor Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mainly gaming. Other details Current build is a i5 3570 and gtx 770, so I'm really looking forward to this upgrade. I was able to snag a ryzen 5 5600x from microcenter and hope to get a 3070 next time I go. Would like to keep the cost under $2k, including the monitor. I have 2 1080p monitors but want to get a nicer one with this upgrade. Already have other peripherals. Here is a starting point but I am open to any suggestions! Also minimize RGB as much as possible please! 10. Looking to get a new headset and I'm curious what kind of recommendations you guys have. Currently I have a Hyperx Cloud but the microphone doesn't seem to be working on PC anymore, only Xbox. Any suggestions for a replacement? Budget is ~$50-70.
  11. Thank you for the info, and after looking into it more I agree that Ryzen is the better choice right now. Read that the motherboards with MAX suffix are pre-updated to have Ryzen 3000 compatibility, so the suggested one shouldn't have any compatibility issues right? I also like the case you recommended, makes more sense and also saves a little money. The prices of Cooler Master Hyper 212 and Arctic Freezer you mentioned are very similar, are there any notable differences between the two? Sorry for all the questions, appreciate the help though!
  12. Thanks for all the replies so far. I am open to switching to an AMD CPU, I will look into that a little more. Mainly just gaming, and I'm all set when it comes to monitor/peripherals.
  13. The great people from this forum helped me put together a build ~7 years ago and I'm back for round 2. Budget is ~$2000 (US) however its flexible, can go over if necessary.
