My bad

BoxTurtle reacted to crazzp in What's a tech term you hate?
Male/Female connector. I understand it perfectly describes the type of connector but I believe there are more elegant ways to describe it instead of making me imagine certain human organs whenever I deal with connectors.

BoxTurtle reacted to V01D_SP4CE in Tech tip from "Windows is about to change..." LMG Clips
The clip is mainly Linus talking about how windows doesn't have a function to fetch a program that is open on an inaccessible monitor. Little tech tip for ya, windows does in fact have a build in hotkey for this specific function.
Windows key + Shift + (directional) arrow key
I don't think this will ever be read by the eyes of Linus but I do hope this helps out some forum users!

BoxTurtle reacted to LAwLz in Why the awful video titles?
You're telling me that these video titles does a poor job of communicating what the video is about?
No way! They are so easy to understand.
I am sure that in a couple of months Linus would totally be able to tell you which video is which from the title alone.

BoxTurtle got a reaction from Stahlmann in Why the awful video titles?
Really it just seems like the past 2 months it has gotten worse. Like they used to have relevant clickbait like titles. You could used to be albe to tell what the video was about. Like they would include the product or whats in the video in the title but still incorporating the clickbait titles. Now I just can't even tell what the video is about and it is so annoying.
Like for example they would put "We need action - Right to repair explained" but if this video came out today it would just say "We need action" forcing you to click on the video. I should be able to tell what the video is about so I actually want to watch it. When you say I am reviewing this product thats what I expect the video to contain but when you put a click batey title and don't say anywhere what the product is or give me a glue I start to make guesses, expect something and when it does not become a reliaty I get mad.
I have nothing wrong with click batey titles, it's just the fact that I have not idea what the freakin video is about. My example at the begining of the second paragraph sums this up. I am fine with the first title but not the second.
LMG pls go back to the old titles. Go back to what you were doing a few months ago. The titles were still click batey and yay maybe those titles get a little less clicks but at least I can tell what the video is about.

BoxTurtle reacted to tikker in Guide Recomendation for Ethereum Mining
It'll vary a bit with miner and pool, but the general gist is:
Get a wallet program (I use MyEtherWallet, MetaMask and Exodus) Find a miner you like (T-rex miner and Phoenix miner are two I've used) Find a pool that suits you (look at things like minimum payout and pool fee. I have used Ethermine, but am now on Binance to mine to my exchange wallet) Set up your miner with that pool and your wallet and mine away Most pools have some miners they recommend and how to set them up with their pool in their support pages. In point 3 pay good attention to minimum payout especially and make sure that you realise how long it'll take for you to get your ETH on your wallet. You can use a mining calculator to get an estimate of your hashrate and profits to check it.

probably not. they said they're applying the limiters to newly manufactured cards, it wouldn't make sense to keep manufacturing the old ones as well while selling the CMP lineup alongside.
You can probably still mine other coins than ETH though

BoxTurtle got a reaction from RockSolid1106 in hi my name is rohit and i want to make a minecraft server and i want the server (pc) to be under INR6000 (usd 82) is it possible?
You just need to find a old computer. My brother was able to find a Dell OptiPlex on Ebay for $150 that is able to play minecraft at 90 fps vs before him using a 2015 macbook that only got 30 fps. So if you could find a deal like that you could have a pretty good server better than mine. (the OptiPlex is better than my server).
If you are going to buy a computer go for something like a OptiPlex. I would not recommend buying anything else because you are not going to get as good as value buying something else.
If you did not know OptiPlexes are old business PCS and what business have done is when they don't need them sold them for cheap just to get rid of them and people have sold them on Ebay.
Edit: Look on ebay. Dell Optiplexes are sooooo cheap and so good value.

BoxTurtle got a reaction from WhitetailAni in hi my name is rohit and i want to make a minecraft server and i want the server (pc) to be under INR6000 (usd 82) is it possible?
I literally just use a dell latitude e5510 that is 10 years old for my Minecraft server. I just had it lying around so I decided to use it. It came with 3 gigs of ram so I upgraded it to 8 gigs of ram. I am planning to put a ssd in the furture.
Really you could not get something like this for $80. You would just have to get something like it used. You do not really need that powerfull of a machine to run your minecraft server. I would recomend a ssd though. Sometimes there is lag and I have determined it is because of the HDD.
So if you get a cheap computer there might be some lag in the server sometimes but for me it is fine.

BoxTurtle got a reaction from Mark Kaine in New Nvdia Geforce Experience Update Causing Tons of Issues
Okay, so at first I could not find any older versions to download but then I found this site with older versions. As far as I know Nvdia does not allow you to download previous versions. I know it is sorta unsafe to download it from a random site but it works and it is the legiment file. Site: https://geforce-experience.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions
It doesn't ask me to update and works fine. I will probally use this till the next update comes out. Hopefully these issues will be fixed.

BoxTurtle got a reaction from Mark Kaine in New Nvdia Geforce Experience Update Causing Tons of Issues
So I just updated my Nvidia Geforce Experience and I am having many issues. The first issue is random in game lag where the game just lags randomly to the point where it crashed while I was playing. The second issue is where the fps counter appears on the desktop. This is really weird because these issues have never happened before the update. Also just a personal opion I don't really like the new fps counter font.
I am not the only one having this issue. My users on the Nvdia Forums are reporting also having these issues. This seams to have started happeing to people in the past few hours. Links for post: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/discover/448742/fps-counter-appearing-on-desktop/, https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/discover/448740/fps-drop/, https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/discover/448744/help-please/, and https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/discover/448731/urgent-very-weird-gpu-lag-issue/
For now I have just decided to use the previous version of Nvidia Geforce Experience. I am not experiencing any of these of issues on the older release. Overall all these issues seem to be caused by the new update. Hopfully Nvidia will release something to fix this.

BoxTurtle reacted to LogicalDrm in Looking for app or something to save little bits of information
Google Keep and Tasks are my main thing currently. For longer stuff I use Notepad++.
-
BoxTurtle reacted to minibois in Looking for app or something to save little bits of information
An app that specializes in taking notes would probably be best.
OneNote, EverNote, etc.
Personally I have particularly good experience with Google Keep.
You can title, tag and color notes, rearrange them how you please and access them from all your devices.
There are also 'special' note features, like reminders, lists and the option to add images.
-
BoxTurtle reacted to Radium_Angel in Looking for app or something to save little bits of information
Heck, Notepad can do that.
Or Sticky Notes (the electronic version) if you wanna go that route

Yes rendering in 4k should help. But youtube still does some annoying unfixable compression so be ready for that
-
BoxTurtle reacted to minibois in Video uploaded to YouTube and blurry at some points
Do you have a screenshot of this? It could be low bitrate, a lot of changes at once in the video, or missing keyframes.
4K YouTube allows for more bitrate as compared to 1080p YouTube. If low bitrate is the problem, then uploading in 4K (even if the video is 1080p) could help.
