  1. That looks so awesome! I have the same memory sticks, so now I know it would look awesome I hope the Intel Cashback isn't too late for me.
  2. I'm not too concerned about the bios update - I don't have a lot of experience with updating BIOS, but from what I've gathered, it seems easy enough. I noticed you have the Z97S Krait board, which I had my eye out for aswell, as it has a rebate with my particular CPU. Was it easy enough to build with?
  3. Currently building a new rig using a few old parts from my previous build. However, I would like to switch out the current motherboard I have (Asrock Z68M) with a newer board. I'm come across a pretty cheap Z87 board that has a bunch of features, but I'm wondering if I'm better off getting a Z97 board? For reference, this is the rest of the build: CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor Memory: Kingston Fury White Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory Storage: OCZ Vertex 450 Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card Case: Fractal Design Define R5 ATX Mid Tower Case Power Supply: Cooler Master 550W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply Budget is a concern, and Z97 seems quite a bit more expensive for not a lot more performance. Am I shooting myself in the foot later for getting the Z87?
  4. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, it has been extremely helpful Don't know what I decided yet, but at least I got a couple more options to pick from!
  5. I'm all fine with doing the BIOS upgrade, the Z87 is currently on sale here in Denmark for 400DKK / 65$ cheaper than a Z97 board. Pretty good deal if you ask me. The SSD is already in my rig, so I'm not buying anything new Same with RAM, I'm saving up for another piece of Kingston Fury 8GB for that dual channel.
  6. Hi LTT Forum I'm currently building my second rig, first time building myself though. I've picked a few pieces from my old rig (HDD, SDD, RAM), but the rest is going to my brother. This puts me in a position of needing a Power Supply. I'm using PCPartPicker, and they estimate 337W is needed, which seems incredibly low (coming from a GTX470). So, I would really like a recommendation for a good power supply. The rig will be used for gaming, and I don't mind overclocking a bit (why I chose this CPU), so it should be able to handle that. I'm not looking into SLI just yet (budget concerns), but if that is possible to squeeze in, then I'm all ears My current/old PSU was a Cooler Master GX650W, but that seems a bit overkill, and it is almost 4 years old. Anyway, for the current list: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor Motherboard: MSI Z87-G55 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard Memory: Kingston Fury White Series 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory Storage: OCZ Vertex 450 Series 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card Case: Fractal Design Define R5 ATX Mid Tower Case I know I don't have a CPU cooler on the list, but I won't be overclocking just yet. If you have any recommendations for other parts or something, feel free to do so
  7. Love these giveaways Would love an upgrade to my i5-2500k, even though that is still a beast
  8. Awesome giveaway Antec! Good on ya for helping out the LTT community! My favorite part of the bundle have to be the CPU cooler, which would be a great replacement for my stock cooler!
  9. I must say, even though the lighting on the Extreme is out of this world, it would look absolutely beautiful with that red breathing effect in my system! Just need to upgrade my case to fit this bad boy in
  10. I'm currently running stock cooler, so my first step would be getting a new one before I begin tinkering with overclocking Any recommendations for a good CPU cooler? I'm thinking about getting a water cooler, but I haven't played around with those..
  11. I'm currently thinking about upgrading from my old GTX470 to a new 970. My main concerns are whether my CPU will become too much of a bottleneck, or if it will do fine. I'm currently using a i5 2500k @ 3.3Ghz. Do I need a new CPU before upgrading my graphics card, or will it be a sufficient upgrade until I can get a new CPU?
  12. Nice to have a video that gives a good timeline of LinusMediaGroup I've been watching for 1½ years now, and I enjoy every video I like how the quality of the videos have increased, while the personality is still there! Here's to the next million!
  13. I like how Sony's incremental updates to their phone lines makes sense, without adding too many silly gimmicks and focusing on the important stuff. I love dBrand and their variety of skins. I was looking for some skins for my Nexus 5, and found out that they not only do skins for phones, but for PS4, tablets and for your Pebble watch aswell! Got myself some Nexus 5 skins, and if I like them, I will pursue some for my controllers
  14. Alright guys, thanks for the replies Even though I might want to change the motherboard at some point, I guess it is still better to look at what I need right now Thanks for the help!
  15. So I'm looking at upgrading my RAM from 4 gigs to 8, since there is a small sale on HyperX Fury RAM from Kingston. My question is, is it better to run 2x4GB or a single stick of 8GB? My motherboard (Asrock Z68M-USB3) only got 2 DIMM slots, so if I went for 2x4GB, I couldn't just add another 2x4GB if I went for 16 gigs later. However, the 2x4 sticks run at 1600Mhz, while the single stick of 8GB runs at 1866Mhz. Is the performance gained from dual channel RAM of 1600Mhz better than a single stick of 1866Mhz? The price is irrelevant in this scenario, as they are at the same price. Hardware in question: Motherboard: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z68MUSB3/?cat=Specifications 2x4GB RAM: https://www.komplett.dk/hyperx-fury-ddr3-1600mhz-8gb-black/812852 8GB RAM: https://www.komplett.dk/hyperx-fury-ddr3-1866mhz-8gb-white/812850 Thanks in advance :-)
