Really depends on how close the CPU cooler fans are to that exhaust hole in the back of the case.

If it's very very close, then it can act as an exhaust fan.  If not, the airflow % out the back won't be as good as having a dedicated fan back there.

Really, a true exhaust fan helps get all that hot air out of the case, it's about a balanced in/out setup rather than more air in and then half-assing getting the hot air out.

    Okay. Thank you

    Exhaust to where?

Exhaust means to get the air out of the case, not just off the CPU.

In front, out back, nice steady stream of cool air in and hot air out.

if you try bringing cool air in from both sides, it will get blocked by the heated air that is trapped in the case.

I meant having two intakes in the front and using the CPU cooler to push air to the back of the case

  3. I just bought a CM Hyper 212 RGB black edt to replace my intel stock cooler and I was wondering.

My case (phanteks p400) has two fans (one in the front, one in the back) and that means one of them is going to be right behind my CPU cooler fan. I feel like that's a waste and that it would better to put it in the front instead to get more air in.

Is there any reason not to?
