HTPCs have been a dead concept since the 2000s. HDR support is either spotty or nonexistent, streamers might not even offer a 4K streaming option through a pc, and there are so many good options below 200 bucks. Sucks. 
 
I used Apple TV and Plex to play any of my downloaded files, handles hdr10+ and Dolby vision just fine. 

There’s a couple reasons - biggest one is that the distance from the moon to the earth, and the earth to the sun, are actually always changing, and the closer the moon is, the longer the period of totality. It also depends on where you are on the globe - the moon is only going to sit in front of the sun for a certain amount of time, so the closer that time lines up with where it passes over your area, the longer it’s going to appear. 

If the add eSIM option isn’t in the Cellular settings, maybe it’s carrier locked? Check Settings > General > About. Or there’s a corporate device management policy restricting that - if they check Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, any certificates should be listed with what’s restricted

I don't have any hardware, because what I recommend would be paying somebody to do the digitizing - when my folks wanted some stuff digitized, the amount of money on hardware (buying it, and then getting rid of it when I was done) and time I'd have to spend on it just wasn't worth it.

It sounds like you're overthinking things... the amount of power saved by reducing the resolution is extremely minor - you'll get more savings by reducing screen brightness by a few percent.

Just make sure to budget in your time and ongoing support because even though it’s solid… nothing’s perfect!

Your boss is either going to have this discussion with your IT people or seriously bump up your budget, because non-smart TVs only exist as those expensive displays. 

So it’s one of those Sony blu-ray/receiver combos, interesting. While they’re using what I assume are proprietary connectors, each speaker just looks like a pair of wires. I don’t see why you couldn’t get any receiver, trim off the ends of those speaker wires, and use the existing cabling to connect them. 

I mean, you linked to the rtings review. By their testing, it’s the best tv at its price point. 

The passcode’s been entered incorrectly too many times and the iPhone needs to be restored with a Mac or pc. After restoring, if it needs an Apple ID to activate, it’ll let you know - otherwise it’ll be good to go. 

It would be hard to do a laptop secret shopper. Laptops are much more “bespoke” than desktops from big oems and system integrators, making comparisons way more complicated and difficult to tell whether an issue is a one-off or a design problem. Issues also often take time to manifest. Secret shopper has also tested basically every big oem’s customer service at this point - the only reason Razer’s been spared is that they don’t have a desktop.
 
Anybody who does a little research will find lots of accounts of their issues, so what value does LTT bring to that conversation? Holding brands’ feet to the fire isn’t really their jam.

For your budget, an Aeron classic or a Mirra might be doable. Worth mentioning too, I know the Aeron comes in A/B/C sizes, B for normal sized people, A small and C large. Often As and Cs can be found more easily/cheaply, but if you don't fit that size you can't really get around it.

I bought a used HM Aeron a few years back, had a local HM service provider come to my house and replace the gas cylinder, and all in, it cost me like 500 bucks and you can sit in it all day without issue - no pressure points, no sweaty ass, thanks to the mesh.

Used Herman Miller chairs are a pretty good value, and their chairs are top notch.

Does it make a big practical difference for the average consumer? almost never. There will be the odd time where you're waiting on a big download (cough COD cough) that this would make a difference with, but 1gb is usually fast enough that the internet connection isn't necessarily the bottleneck for downloads, and it certainly won't make a difference with latency. So, for double the monthly price, is it worth it? Not for me

I did some buying in a relatively small market (Canada) in a different consumer good but the same principles apply. If i’m the owner of Portugal’s primary asrock distributor, this year asrock’s going to show me the 2025 catalogue and I have to decide how many of which SKU I’m going to buy from asrock, so they can manufacture them. I’m not going to buy everything - I’m in a small market and I don’t want a bunch of niche items collecting dust in a corner of my warehouse, that I’ll have to either sell at an extreme discount, or scrap. So small markets get stuck with the most popular of a manufacturer’s SKUs, and none of the really cool and cutting edge, but ultimately niche items. 

Small shops in small regions deal with small distributors, who don’t deal every part the manufacturers make. Apart from ordering the part from continental sellers who will ship to you (which I assume is expensive), I would start with the shop to find out what they can get, and put together the build from there. When availability is limited, you can’t always get what you want.
