AMD A10-9600P got a reaction from Caconym in Why does AMD Vega 8 mobile graphics reserves RAM?
They don't disable the iGPU by default because it uses much less power than the dGPU. If you were to use the iGPU on battery you would get much longer run times than using just the dGPU for everything. This is why Optimus exists, on my laptop the dGPU is disabled during lower power tasks and usually on battery, so the lower powered Xe iGPU does the work.

AMD A10-9600P got a reaction from Haraikomono in "Warning Cringe Alert" Recovering Data from used Ebay Drives - Assh*le move ?
Did you listen to what you typed before you posted it?? You're proving everyone else's points whenever you reply and making your own "arguments" weaker and weaker.

You do not work at these companies. You are not these individuals. That was not your data. It is not your business. You were in the wrong by recovering it, regardless of whether it was just to prove a point or not. We already know that not everyone can securely erase a drive, and if you know that, why didn't you just do them a favour and erase the drives and then move on with your life, instead of recovering personal and business files that were not yours. Again, it could be a criminal act (depending on where you live), and it is very morally wrong. Those files are the business of the former owner of the drive and not yours, it's really not that hard to understand.

You know what else is "inexcusable" and "plain dumb"? Recovering the files of strangers from 20 old drives without any consent whatsoever and continually trying to justify it. People like you are the reason that others get hold of these files; you specifically bought the drives in order to get a hold of them! I'd love to know what kind of safety measures you put in place so that your little game didn't inadvertently leak any sensitive information. You know what types of files are stored on those drives, so you must have gone looking through and opening them, giving you information that you never had the right to have, snooping in on strangers lives. If I was selling one of those drives, I would feel extremely violated to have found that the buyer went to extreme lengths to recover my personal data (like bank statements, expense reports, family photos, work documents, all those normal files that people keep on their computers); I'd probably file a very angry complaint with your company, or even go to the local police.

I just cannot fathom why you keep coming back to try and justify this, you're just incriminating yourself over and over.

You really are an ass man. People in the thread told you that it's morally questionable at best, and illegal at the worst, yet you still went on to harvest other peoples personal data from 20 fricking drives? 20 drives will cover a hell of a lot of people and their data.

That's not right. How do you not see the issue with this??

Regardless of whether you delete the files or not when you are done, you still have had access to a bunch of files that you were never supposed to. "I mean, yeah I did open the purse and have a look around, but it's okay because I threw everything inside away when I was done!", that doesn't sound right does it.

If you sold someone an old drive, after thinking you'd wiped it, just for them to go and recover all your data, you'd feel violated. It's not just about making a point as well, you don't know what is stored on those drives. They could be from hospitals, police departments, government departments, wherever, with private spending and personal data. This could constitute a criminal act at it's worst, depending on how in depth and private the data you recovered was. At the very best, what you did is probably in a grey area of the law, but still a major violation of the former owners privacy.

You didn't need to make a point that people can be "ignorant" when selling old drives. We know that not everyone has the expertise to completely erase a drive that they are selling, this is well known within the tech community and has been for years and years and years. What I find ignorant is that you started a thread to ask about the moral issues with this, yet still went on and did it after being told all the reasons not to! By knowing how to do this, you should have had an obligation to simply just delete the files and move on, yet you tried to recover files from all 20 drives!

AMD A10-9600P reacted to gudvinr in How to install Linux instead of Windows 11
It's not like people who are used to install software through downloading from internet will suddenly dive into package managers. They will continue to do so and it doesn't matter which OS they use at the moment. It's not uncommon to distribute software in form of appimage/flatpak either. Some developers still distribute binaries without any packaging on their websites/github.

It works other way around too. People who tend to use package managers will try to adapt in Windows by using chocolatey/winget. Microsoft even says that winget isn't "new default" but rather tool for experienced users and administrators. Windows Store also exists for 10 years or so and you can install appx from PowerShell.

I kinda do not like your bias towards superiority of "Linux way", because you're comparing Linux vs Windows but it's people who make decisions on how to distribute and download software.

AMD A10-9600P reacted to Senzelian in How to install Linux instead of Windows 11
Installing Linux was never an issue for me. It's what comes afterwards that bothers me the most about it.

At the moment Anthony went into adding sources in the app store, or when he was saying that the version of wine in the appstore was outdated and that I now have to use the CLI to get it to work, he lost me. Sure, always having to open a browser window to download and install a program isn't optimal, but at least the software is up to date and I'll always be able to find it with Google. And then again, how often do I install new software?

And then needing to check whether games run well, or that I have to fumble around with the UI, because I'm not a fan of how it looks, is just the cherry on top.

And I own a smartphone, so what do I care about privacy. 😉

    Edit:
I like his outgoing statement tho. Just use what you want to use.

AMD A10-9600P got a reaction from Podrake in People with laptops with Ryzen CPU's any problems faced?
AMDs older APU (combined CPU and GPU) drivers back before Ryzen were a joke, but thanks to the popularity of Ryzen they have really been able to step up their game. I had a soft spot for their older A10 CPUs back around 2016 as they offered more cores and superior graphics for the time, but they aged terribly, and driver support was horrendous.

The opposite is the case with Ryzen - Ryzen APUs are brilliant so are hardly ageing at all and driver support is incredible compared to the previous AMD standards.

None of my friends or family using Ryzen laptops have had any issues to do with the CPU or GPU.

I say go for it, you won't be disappointed.

That said, if you can, look for the 5800U, as it is slightly more up to date than the 5700U. The 5700U is still a brilliant processor though.

And, being less of a jerk, you'll probably find that playing olderish or lighter weight games offers vastly better battery life than trying to get RDR2 running on a 15w APU.

AMD A10-9600P reacted to Master Disaster in why is window 365 so expensive????
You gotta remember the marketing pitch for these things is that businesses can rent a computer from MS and never have to buy or replace another PC again, never have to buy Windows licenses again, not have to worry about backups, configuration, software installation or any of the things that generally cost businesses lots of money in small increments over a long period.

I still don't really understand what the plan is for larger networks running domains though.

It's not a dead pixel, it's a program window that is only one pixel in size. The halo around it is the shadow effect that all windows have.
Try closing all your programs one by one (including those in the taskbar) and it should disappear at some point.

If I remember correctly, for someone in the past this was a window belonging to Steam, so I'd start there.

You can choose to opt out and your videos will remain unchanged, unlisted. You can also re-upload the video again as unlisted and get the security benefits of the changes YouTube made to make it harder to find unlisted videos.
This is going to impact channels that the creator has abandoned and won't act on this change, but they've abandoned the channel so I don't think they care.

AMD A10-9600P reacted to Spotty in Crackonosh; Cracked PC games infect over 200,000* systems with cryptocurrency miner malware
    Summary
In a surprise to absolutely no-one, pirated games are riddled with viruses and malware.
Avast released a blog post detailing Crackonosh, a cryptocurrency miner that was hidden in the installers for a bunch of popular video games that were being illegally pirated. The cryptocurrency malware managed to mine over $2 million in cryptocurrency for the hackers responsible from over 200,000 systems that Avast detected the malware installed on. The 200,000 figure only counts systems that have Avast installed, so the actual figure would be much higher.

What's somewhat interesting is in how the malware operated; disabling anti virus software and crippling Windows services such as windows updates and defender, as well as waiting for several system reboots before activating with the latter presumably to disguise the source of the malware with many people unaware that the pirated game they installed days or weeks ago was responsible for the malware allowing the the cracked game to be more broadly distributed before suspicions are raised.

List of infected cracked games Avast found: (This is only games that have been illegally pirated. It does not affect legitimate copies of the game)
NBA 2K19 Grand Theft Auto V Far Cry 5 The Sims 4 Seasons Euro Truck Simulator 2 The Sims 4 Jurassic World Evolution Fallout 4 GOTY Call of Cthulhu Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 We Happy Few
    My thoughts
You get what you pay for.
I usually see stuff like this as ads for anti-virus companies, such as Avast in this case, but it also serves as a good reminder not to pirate cracked games. Interestingly some of these games have already been available for free from legitimate game stores. Epic Games Store has offered both Jurassic World Evolution and GTA V for free in the past, possibly others in the list as well.
Games are entertainment, not a necessity. There's no reason to pirate games and there are plenty of good cheap or free games to play, and if there is a game you want to play just wait for it to go on sale like the Steam Summer Sale currently in progress.

This is just one particular virus that has been found in cracked games, but there's no doubt that other cracked games also have similar or worse infections bundled in with them.

There's a lot more information and details about how the malware worked in Avast's Blog post, for anyone interested in that sort of thing I would recommend giving it a read. It's a bit lengthy to include here. There are also instructions for removing Crackonosh included in the blog post if you believe you may be infected.

AMD A10-9600P reacted to Kronoton in Never buy an HP prebuilt
Mixing quite a few things together here.

Single channel RAM is very common on budget oriented prebuilds so thats nothing special to HP.
You claim that the computer got slower, so that not a RAM issue but either bloatware/virus or some HW issue like the cooler getting loose or collecting dust.
HP didn't "do" a BIOS upgrade, you did install an BIOS upgrade that HP provided and failed.

Now HP having an issue about you adding more RAM into a computer that is supposed to be expandable is 100% nonsense and most likely a cop out  to not fix whatever issue is at hand.

I think I've only ever seen 2 roundabouts in North America, having been to 4 US states and 2 Canadian provinces. Here in the UK they're massively common (I've seen a lot in mainland Europe too), and a good chunk of what you learn when learning to drive surrounds roundabouts. The concept isn't that difficult at all when you learned to drive with them and they can keep junctions a lot, lot clearer than traffic lights and give way or stop signs, but I imagine that they can be an absolute pain when no one in the area understands how to tackle them. When they work though, they are very useful. The only gripe I have with roundabouts is people forgetting to indicate off, making you wait when you can actually go on.
