  1. that's what I'm thinking too, I don't see why not. The package PCB doesn't seem too terribly messed up. The reason the CPU is broken in the first place is because the motherboard is a socket 1150, and the 3770k is a 1155. I've since bent the pins back and tested it with an i3-4130, and everything seems well so far. I plan to upgrade that in the future and use it as my daily, unless I can get this 3770k working.
  2. Wow, thanks for all the replies so quickly! Trust me, I told him he messed up. Apparently his little brother did the assembly. Clearly he's never seen one of Linus' build guides ;) That's what I'm hoping for. I'm gonna see if I can find a schematic online of which pins do what. I think I'm going to give it a shot anyway. i'll get back to y'all but it'll be a while, given the current climate
  3. I got a Z97 (4th Gen Intel) Mobo for free the other day because “it won’t turn on”, so I went to reseat the CPU and I found a 3770K in there (3rd Gen Intel) *Eyeroll* Do you figure it’s toast, or is there some hope of using it still? The die seems fine, but the package is damaged (clearly) im asking instead of testing it because I don’t have a board to test. But if you guys think I could save it somehow, I’ll go get a cheap board to test it with.
