I have decided, on further consideration, to hold steady with the current systems and not upgrade with the 3000 launch.

Due to a combination of factors:

BABY coming wooooooooo!  Very excited and appropriately scared about this
Student loans are so close to being paid off
Lots of house projects going on that cost $

And in terms of PC hardware and "futureproofing", I bought some of the highest end hardware for my home system (intel 3350P + GTX 970 ---> 9900k + 2080ti on water) and work system (ryzen 2200g + GTX 760---> 3900x + 2080ti in one of the best air cooled set ups) and honestly should be happy with what I have for a while and leave it alone.  I am already pretty far ahead of the next console generation in terms of gaming that hasnt even launched, and I can video edit, stream, and do pretty much whatever I want.  I think the next upgrade will be put off for at least another GPU generation, if not an additional one.  Plus 2.5M-3M PPD on my 24/7 folder is nothing to sneeze at!

The recruiting of GPU's has involved firing up Barbados Slim (old PC made of parts lying around) and my wife's (RX580) to get me to there :).  Not that I am stopping after, just excited for the next badge.

I came across this on twitter.  It looks like the folks at covid_moonshot are now providing a progress bar for their moonshot WU sprints.

    https://postera.ai/covid

I love this for a few reasons:

    1) I love progress bars in general
    2) It looks to be updated in real-ish time ( in the multi-second range)
    3) It has precision down to the thousandths
    4) It may give us insight into any WU shortages in the future, if they show that they have completed the latest sprint

I look forward to incrementing that sprint number at a break-neck speed.

Only if the call to action works, these were posted on FAHs youtube channel, would have been better if they were posted on AMDs/Nvidias channels. Have the respective corporations even shouted about then on twooter, facebook, their own websites. Really anything like that?

@jakkuh_t would be nice to see these shared by LTT on twitter tbh. #TeamLTT!

One of the reasons for people having stupid high WU count in the past is NaCl folding, which isn't a thing anymore as google stopped support NaCl apps a while ago. These were tiny WUs that folded in the browser and you'd chew them stupid quick. The points reflected the tiny nature of the WUs.

@Kilrah ,  @TVwazhere , If it is any consolation, there are (surely) a few odd cases like me whom are folding still, even if not registered in the event.

Maybe the lift of some restrictions also make people think the urgency is less there. For me as long as we do not have either a vaccine (that can target specific RNA string nowaday, if I understand correctly) or a cure, we will not be out of the woods.  Now is the time to fold, the WU's seems to have been massively released if I interpret correctly the number of project 14201 I have fold in the last week.

Latest build of the web client v1.0.5 has hit the chrome extension store, you can force update or you should get it delivered soon.

Thanks for all the helpful feedback and bug reporting, wanted to get some of the new stats info and LTT skin elements in before the event.
    Cheers,

Sorry it's taken a while to see this. Been distracted by ... life .. for the last little while. With Core22 there's not as much impact running Linux over Windows as there once was. The biggest advantage is that you can just set it and forget it and not worry about forced updates. It's also easier to schedule folding on and off due to time-of-use electricity rates or just not wanting to have the A/C over-compensate.

As others have said fan utilities and the such are easier to find in Windows. It can be done in Linux but requires much more mucking about in the command line.

The choice is really up to you, but yes it's better for the DB cause we get more samples if you leave it running.   I'm working on a scaling backend to the API so I can slow down the number of WU the clients submit even in no sleep if the server is burdened and that will come in a later update.

As for the stats, been waiting to get a critical mass of work units in the DB for a variety of cards to add addition features like you're describing.  The DB is only about 2 weeks old and is growing pretty quickly... so soon I should be able to provide scientifically relevant data based on the samples collected beyond the average.  I'm hoping the upcoming event sees a bump in use and data variety.

This would include the number of WU samples for the GPU / Project and recently added if the core OS is Linux or Windows as their performance varies based on OS overhead.

Also working on the addition of percentile scores for your performance compared to the DB samples as of course some cards in the same model will vary greatly based on a number of hardware and software factors so showing where your card slots in to the spectrum of that model of card is useful information as well.

Does not matter if there are silicon lottery GPUs that bring the max PPD score of a card up... if 80% of users will never come close to it... etc.

    Hmm did we break it?

Since I have been folding nothing but p 14201 the last 48 hours, I wanted to see some stats, and got this page.

    Aright guys, so I'm home!

Tests came back mostly fine, have to take these meds and see how I do over the next few days. Can't drink! What the hell kinda advice is that! I need to take it easy and the like, but that means I can still run the event! Not allowed to drink, exercise, put strain on my body in any way, gotta stay chill essentially.

So this means that the event will go ahead, things should be fine to run, though daily blogs may be delayed or missed. But please, don't worry, we are tracking the stats regardless. I will be posting the list for everyone to check on today on a blog update.

please do not message me asking if you are signed up, or asking me to check on if you spelled anything right. You will simply be ignored.

Life has some strange ways to make you laugh.

I was going to my profile at extremeoverclocking.com, to see if we have overpassed the EVGA team, and my stats for the day, and this is what I saw.
The rank number (team)... so far from the truth, it hurts
But on the Day LTT over pass team EVGA, found it funny.

I'm not a Guru, but I have seen on the official forum that there was one WU that caused multiple crashes (I got two of theses in one night, my production was 0 from 3 AM to 9AM).

Don't know if there are still new people to folding, but I will say here that one of the best upgrade you can do is change your CPU Cooler (for thoses folding with CPU too). I just changed my stock cooler (AMD Ryzen 5), and it runs 20°C colder, it made me gain 50 Mhz, and more importantly, it's really quiet compared to what I had. [I was running around 80°C on some WU, so -jet like full spin fan noise, now I Have a big 9 hour WU and it's at 59°C]

Thinking about it, this is the first time this computer has fold (by that I mean that last time before the "call to arms" on the wan show in march, I hadn't fold on this computer). Should'nt have listen to my goto Builder, and put one when I bought it. "Stock cooler will be fine" he said...

I would think so, after all I can't believe that I would be a rare case on anything, and I started folding again because Covid-19 + Wan Show. Didn't even join the prize event. Just folding. For LTT team. Because why not?

Don't remember who said that technology has come a long way when it came to folding, but this last twoo week I too had a demonstration.

I have just reached 10 millions points. It took me Years to get my first   millions  (PS3 days and before). Then in a few year of gtx 970, not full time (well for a year or so, then occasionnally) I've reched 52 000 000.

And now, in two weeks, 10 000 000...

tldr. Log is acting weird, but WU's seem to get done and accepted. Points aren't being awarded properly, but is an issue w. F@H servers.

So I've dug in my log a little bit, since the missing points updating was bothering me a little bit, and I needed a sanity check. I left my main rig folding for 24 hours at full tilt, with an occasional gaming break once in a while. I then extracted the log, and found all the lines with "Final Credit estimate".

I found out that several of the lines with final credit estimate was present multiple times. I don't know if this is an issue, but I am not too concerned since the timestamps are identical, so I assume its just en error in the log generation. However if I remove all the duplicates, and add the points together I should have made 653454.00, plus whatever my server with a 6 core CPU slot crunch out (a rough estimate would be 10-20,000)over the last 24 hours. So in total ~670k points. Not overly impressive I know, but still a fair bit.

In the meantime EOC has registered a total of 288,167 points in total. So in actuality less than half of whats expected.
I can only assume that I am not the only one with issues of points updating. And I can see on the F@H forums, it is something they are aware of. Apparently the points won't get awarded until the work from the collection server has been send along to another server. Since the servers stall all the time, alot of completed and unawarded WU's get stuck, until they get it fixed. So they should turn up eventually, with full QRB.

My point is (no pun intended), that I'll of course keep folding, even though admittedly it takes some of the fun out, to be honest. But the real prize at the end of the road is of course not the points, but the incredible contribution to science, we all are helping with.
To all the newbies like myself, you're not crazy, the points sometimes don't update. It can take some time before you'll get them, but eventually you'll get em. See it as a staggered RPG attack, with burn/poison damage over time 🤓
To the veterans, is there something else I could check for in the log, to make sure nothing is wrong in my end? As I said I'm not too concerned with the multiple identical entries in my log. But could it actually point to some issue with my F@H installation?

About the best practice of stopping folding, thanks for the reminder.  But yes, I knew, thus I have updated my drivers after finishing my work.So no problem on that side.
For now, I have only updated the info in the config panel (user name and team number), and  with my issued passkey (that I have archived) when I have noticed the problem.
I will keep an eye for any discrepencies on my profile  between the stat page and what my reults. If I see any weird discrepencies, I'll follow up here.
