  1. Little update: After 2 days of copying my stuff at 5MB/s still at only 40% completed I noticed that I was using my dual band router only with 2.4GHz Wifi. So I turned on the 5GHz Wifi network, connected to it and now I´m getting more comfortable copy speeds averaging at 20MB/s. Now I´m happy.
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. I have my router with the NAS placed in the living room, where the only Ethernet outlet in out flat is. My workstation is in a small home office in the upper floor (right above the living room). I placed the PC as close to the router as possible (2,5m approximately). I would really want to avoid drilling a hole through the ceiling. I was expecting that the router should handle about 20-30MB/s wireless transfers. I can live with 5MB/s speeds, I was just expecting little bit more. So I was wondering if I did everything alright.
  3. Hello all, as mentioned in the title, I have very little to none networking knowledge. I work from home as an interior designer. I have all my project files in my work PC and have a backup of those files on an another HDD in the same PC. I just purchased a Zyxel NAS326 with a 4TB WD Red drive to use it as my new backup device / home media network storage (to free up some space in my PC). I never used a NAS before so I didn´t know what to expect. I connected this device to my WiFi router ASUS RT-AC53 via Ethernet cable which came with the NAS. I setup the device thanks to some online manuals (set up the drive, creating an account and some folders). I set up a network drive in windows 10 and was ready to go. However when I started copying the first bunch of files (over 800GB in 200 000 files) I was surprised how slow the process is. My PC is connected to the router by 2.4GHz Wifi. I let the copying to run over night but in the morning it was only at 14% complete. Average copy speed at 5MB/s, with 45hours to go. The NAS status says it is working at 100%CPU. I just need some clarification. Is the NAS really this slow? Or is my WiFi router having issues? Or did I miss some important settings in the setup process? Is there a way to magically increase the transfer speeds between my PC and the NAS? Or should I just manage my expectations better? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jeggy.
