  1. Thanks, you were right, Robocopy doesn't let you clone the system. There are some hard copies of Acronis True Image 2019 in ebay but I might go with another software.. I've found this: AOMEI Backupper Professional for $52 after a coupon and lifetime updates, it seems good. I'm looking into it.. From what I've understand RAID 1 will clone bad files instantly, including viruses, malware, corrupted system files etc'. and I wouldn't want to count on Windows Backup & Restore, if it will fail to restore. I'd be more happy to clone the disk entirely and periodically so if something happens I can just boot from the other disk and that's it. I don't think there is a safer and faster way than this one.. Thanks :)
  2. Hi friends, I have 2 exact 512GB NVME hard drives and 2 exact 2TB mechanical hard drives. I've planned my system in this way so I could clone the whole each drive to its twin drive, for backup purpose in case the first one fails. This should include the C drive with the system files should make the target drive bootable in case again the first HD with the system files gets corrupted or something. So I am looking for a software that will let me mirror/clone those hard drives to their twin hard drives. I'd also like to mirror the disks on a certain time daily or once a week, in this way I think I won't mirror viruses or bad files etc', if something will go bad with my PC I'll just boot from the other HD and I'm back in the game. I've done it in the past and it has saved me on windows 7 and a software which is called "alwaysync" which is now "goodsync". but I'm not sure it could do what I want anymore and even if it does it's an annual payment which I don't like.. I have no problem paying a one time payment.. Is there a way to do this through windows? Do you think I could use robocopy and windows Task Scheduler? If anyone knows of software to recommend, I'd be happy to know Thanks so much in advance! Roy.
  3. If you're still looking.. Due to the CoronaVirus.. They've been been snatched. I guess by streamers and I've also been told that by TV reporters to report from home while not going to their workplace. I bet the manufacturer is working on producing more units and I also speculate that the price will go higher as demand is probably crazy but just a guess. Try looking into Razr Ripsaw HD if you could get one. Although it's not so popluar with cameras it might work, check this out: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=e0VRxx-52Mc though im not sure about the quality, you'll have to research a bit, I was told it's avermedia guts inside, which doesnt have to be a bad thing as it's only USB 3.0 so it's not the same as the cheap USB 2.0 capture card avermedia has. Or a pci card as the blackmagic Intensity Pro 4K for a PC. Good luck (:
  4. Thank you so much for helping, yes only Raytraced viewport feature uses the GPU and it's hardly ever used and I'm happy you've cleared it out for me so I know that if I ignore that feature then either the 1650 SUPER or the 1660 SUPER would be adequate for recording a video like that in OBS. I think I will still go for the 1660 SUPER as it's a little better and not a big price range difference. I might use other software that does rendering and does use the CUDA cores of the GPU and the 1660S has more than the 1650S.. as for the RAM memory, I'll see how it goes with 2x8GB, if I'll see it's a bottleneck in someway, I'll upgrade with 2x8GB more. right now on my old PC I have 2x2GB (800MHz) and other than chrome nothing is hardly never choking it, so I assume 16GB should give me enough extra memory. about you mentioning I could use it as a RAMDISK, I'll be running two NVME pcie 512GB drives in very high speeds (one at x4 and the other at x2 [which has a 1000MB/s read limitation]) so I think I'm covered for that. from what I saw, that could help with loading up the OS and apps much faster and moving large video files faster and help with post video editing. I'd love to know if you have anything do add, Thank you so much for helping me out!
  5. Thank you so much, the program is called "Rhino" it's a 3D design program, it's using only a single core of the CPU for calculations (I know it's funny) and the GPU for making the display better (anti-aliasing etc'). what I want to do is something like this, with the camera overlaid on the desktop capture (and also chroma keyed in my case). I wanted to play it safe with the graphics card so I won't have any lags, skipped framed for encoding or display etc'. while making a tutorial, creating a 3D model and recording the screen with the camera input overlaid and chroma keyed, all in the same time. Thanks again
  6. Thanks a lot, the graphics card runs at x16 and the capture card runs at x4 other then that there are two x1 slots that if I use I make the x4 run at a lower speed of x2, that's by what the motherboard specs says. questions is, if the NVME share the lanes in some way with the PCIe slots, I have a feeling that not since one NVME slot is rated x4 and the second one is rated x2. and it doesn't mention anywhere that it lowers the speed of the x16 slots.. Thanks again.
  7. Thank you, actually it made sense to me since the 1660S runs at 192bit compared to the 1650S at 128bit, has 6GB VRAM compared to 4GB and has more Cuda cores. maybe some of those specs will help me with the video recording and encoding? help with the frame rate or anything? if you don't think so, will it be better to have the 32GB RAM instead of 16GB instead? Thank you both.
  8. @Jumballi Thank you so much, I actually already considered your advice and updated the gpu to 1660 Super ‏but that was on the account of the 32GB RAM.. as I lowered the spec to 16GB which is about half the cost.. I might try to work like that and if it won't be good enough I could upgrade with 16GB more.. I won't be doing much editing, some video trimmings here and there and addind titles in a program I havent decided about yet, maybe Davinci Resolve.. But I could also easily see if I'm maxing the RAM out right? Or you think I will surely benefit by having 32GB right away? Thanks a lot for your help.
  9. Thanks. Actually.. thinking about it, any HD/SSD could fail mechanically/electrically.. so a bootable media won't even be able to rescue it.. right?
  10. Never done that actually.. is it reliable? will it always work no matter what? Thanks.
  11. Thank you, I'll look into veeam, but if I'm backing up a 512GB SSD to a 3TB HD, could I boot the system from the HD in case the SSD fails to boot? Thanks, I'll try to have a solution for that too somehow
  12. Hi friends, I'm choosing parts for a new build, I really want to get my files saved and backed up right once and for all.. so I'm getting two Seagate 3TB Hard drives, one will have all the files I have (work, pics, music.. my whole life) and the second one will be a mirror of the first one for backup in case the first one will fail. For the operating system, I'd like to run an NVME PCIe SSD drive and I actually have 2 NVME slots on the motherboard I'll be getting, one slot is running x4 and the other one is running x2 (1000MB/s max), but that's ok as NVME SSD's cost about the same as the ordinary SSD's.. so I was thinking to do the same as the 3TB hard drives, mirroring the main NVME drive to the second one, so in any case of a hardware failure or a virus, I'll just open the case, swap them and keep working. so my questions are: 1. I know a RAID 1 array will get both drives bad if there was an issue with the file system or a virus etc', So I'm looking into a solution which is not RAID 1 and also want it to be scheduled, like a daily mirror to the other drive or something like that, so if one dies I'll just back up the second one and replace the two of them. does that makes sense? are there good solutions for that purpose? maybe a mirroring software that would also mirror the boot files? 2. The other thing is that I've heard that if the drives are from the same brand/model/batch, they might die in the same time.. that doesn't seem reasonable to me really, someone else said they better be the same model.. I don't remember why, is there anything to it? does it make sense doing this with NVME drives? I'll also mention I'm not looking for extra speed like 2 NVME drives in a RAID setup. just a reliable and super fast solution in case any drive fails. swap drives and keep working, in the worst case scenario loosing a day's work or less, from the time that last backup was done. I'll appreciate any advice, Thank you very much! Roy.
  13. Thanks for your reply, So I'm intending to use a graphics card which has to work in the PCIe X16 slot and a capture card that has to work in the PCIe X4 slot. The motherboard has one PCIe x16 (x16) slot, one x16 (x4) slot, one x16 (x1) slot and one x1 (x1) slot. They mention that "The PCIEX4 slot operates at up to x2 mode when the PCIEX1_1/PCIEX1_2 slot is populated. The PCIEX4 slot operates at up to x4 mode when both of the PCIEX1_1 and PCIEX1_2 slots are empty." Now I don't need to use any other slots but the first two (x16 and x4) but would like to know I won't hurt their speed by connecting an NVME drive.. will I? Thank you so much for helping.
  14. Hi Friends, I'm looking in a motherboard which I'll probably get but I just want to be sure about the NVME SSD connection. The specs of this Gigabyte B450 AORUS PRO says: "Dual Ultra-Fast NVMe PCIe Gen3 M.2 (x4, x2) with Dual Thermal Guards" The drive I'm looking at is XPG SX8200 Pro PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280 Solid State Drive (peak read/write speeds of 3500/3000MB/s - NVME 1.3) I only intend to use one which is the x4 one, but a chart in the manual says that when I use that x4 socket I'm loosing 2 SATA connections (image attached), I have no problem with that, but my question is: If this cuts off 2 SATA connections, does that mean that it's also running in SATA speeds? or that it is still fast as PCIE x4 and should allow the fast speeds of the drive? And if it does use the PCIe x4, doesn't it take away from the lanes used by the other PCIe slots? nothing is mentioned about it in the specs or the manual. My guess is that the M.2 slot is getting its lanes from the chipset? hope I'm not talking nonsense.. lanes are a very new subject for me I just want to make sure I'll get the high speeds that the NVME drive offers and that I wont hurt the speed of the other PCIe slots. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks a lot! Roy.
  15. Thank you all, so @Jurrunio, So does that might mean that the X570 will give somewhat better quality being made by AMD for an AMD CPU?
  16. Thank you, I really don't need anything the x570 offers in terms of connectivity, and it costs $240 in my country when the B450 boards cost $120.. so I just wanted to be sure the 3200MHz will work with the B450 and I wont have an issue with it.. Thanks again.
  17. Thanks for your advice and tips! Thank you, that's interesting to know.. So after all that, should I trust the B450 chipset with a 3200MHz memory? or I should opt for an X570 board? Thank you all!
  18. Thank you @Jumballi , Yeah, I'm not a gamer, that's what I wrote: It wont be just a digesting machine but I'll capture the desktop with it making tutorials for graphics design software which are not heavy on the CPU. I wont be using mechanical hard drive for saving the videos but I was thinking about the ordinary SSD's as they have about 550MB/s writing/reading speeds.. isn't the NVME SSD an overkill? Thanks again.
  19. Thank you @SavageNeo I just needed a good CPU and I like AMD better, from what I saw Ryzen 3700x has a very good value. and the GTX 1650 SUPER is good for video encoding as it has the new NVENC encoder (Touring architecture). Could anything be wrong with this combo? Thank you.
  20. Hello friends, I'd like to record videos of capturing my desktop screen with a camera input through a capture card overlaid on it and chroma keyed using OBS. I only intend to record locally to disk and never stream. also, I'll be recording graphic design programs, never game-play. I'll be using the Ryzen 3700x CPU and the GTX 1650 SUPER (Touring architecture) Graphics card. My question is, will I benefit from 32GB for video recording and encoding and maybe even re-encoding videos? or I could settle for 16GB? Thanks a lot in advance Roy.
  21. Thank you, I'll sure will take your advice and make sure it's not Hynix. Thanks, are you sure about that? Both Motherboards list their support for 3rd generation Ryzen CPU's so why wont they update the RAM clocks on the B450 boards? One of the boards I'm looking at is the ASUS TUF-B450-PLUS-GAMING and this is what it says in the specs: I want to know if it's perfectly fine or I should be looking at an x570 board like the ASUS PRIME X570-P which says this in the specs: I'm also looking at the GigabyteB450-AORUS-M which lists this: How come the two different B450 have different RAM specs? isn't it suppose to be the same and what's supported with the CPU? I'm so tired digging into specs lol.. Thanks a lot! Roy.
