  1. Desk is just wide enough, but nothing sits on it except my keyboard and mouse
  2. I am currently thinking of swapping to a 49inch ultrawide for productivity reasons but still want a good gaming experience. Now the problem is I'm still running a 2070super, so I have a couple of questions: 1. I know there's no way my gpu will give me anything like good framerates if I game full screen, but if I use Fancy zones (or similar) to create a smaller game region will I still get decent performance? 2. Will I hit any problems in day to day use?
  3. This is kind of a niche problem and I don't really expect to find the perfect solution but if anywhere will have one it's here So I work for a sports team and we manage our team rotations through an iPad app, the person who controls the app is pitch side and then the coaches are in a box in the stands. So the coaches want to see the rotations in their box, currently we connect a laptop to the iPad, quicktime record the iPad and then Zoho assist between the sideline laptop and a box laptop, and the 2 laptops are on different networks. When it works it's great but there's way too many points of failure and I'm the only one who can fix it. I want to remove the sideline laptop from the equation. I know I can team viewer or Zoho straight from the iPad but then they don't upsize the iPad on the laptop, and the coaches will complain it's too hard to read. Does anyone have any other recommendations? I know there's some very specific and unrealistic requests in here but I'll love anyone who can help me find a better solution
  4. Thanks for the help everyone, very much appreciated. I'll probably wait for the mm-100 to come out and then go in to try them and some others out.
  5. Mostly punk/hardcore, little bit of hip-hop Prioritise music more, I don't play any game competitively enough to really care about getting every little advantage from the sound, as long as I can tell what's happening Running them off a Marantz sr4300 receiver
  6. So I have just updated my PC sound from wireless gaming headphones to running a Marantz receiver with B&W speakers, and I pulled out my old falling apart ATH MX30s just to use as a temporary solution but I'm looking to upgrade and take a step into something a little more premium. Got about $500aud ($325usd) to spend and would prefer to be able to find something local than order from Drop or similar. (Will pay a bit more for a noticeable upgrade) Used for music and gaming, probably prefer to have a better music pair and sacrifice a little in gaming than the other way around I've done some research and asked a couple of friends with a bit of knowledge on the experience and I'm sort of looking at the following 3 sets DT 900 PRO X $310aud Seem like they will do everything I need and under budget, my question would be if I spend more am I going to get an appreciably better product? HIFIMAN Sundara 2022 $495aud Seem to review really well but everyone talks about HIFIMAN have awful QC and could pretty easily break within a relatively short time, not that it should really matter but I love the aesthetics of these Audeze MM-100 $670aud Obviously a fair step above my budget but people seem pretty excited about these, are they worth waiting to try out? will they likely be worth the premium over the other 2? Any other recommendations are welcome
  7. All sorted, a very nice upgrade. Speakers are just a bit more punchy with the bass compared to the audio pro. Got out the old AT headphones and it's a night and day difference compared to what I was using
  8. Dad gave me the speakers and receiver. Found out there is a sub to add to it too
  9. My current gaming headphones have decided they should die on me and because I'm listening to music more than gaming these days I'm taking it as a sign to upgrade my audio set up. I have a 2 part question really: Current setup: Hyper X wireless headphones Audio Pro C5 speaker My dad is talking about he wants to downsize from his stereo to a Bluetooth speaker he can move around the house if he wants to and then a Bluetooth turntable, I'm talking to him about swapping my C5 speaker and I'll get him a turntable and I'll take his current set up, so I'd basically be out of pocket $300-400aud His set up: Marantz receiver sr4300 Pro-ject turntable Bowers and Wilkins speakers dm600s3 Is this a good option to connect my PC audio up to? Or am I better off getting like a desktop amp/dac for headphones and then just continuing with my C5 speaker when I'm not wearing headphones Question 2: If I get my dad's set up what are some good headphones for around $500aud? Open back are fine as there's no real background noise in my office and no one to annoy with noise leakage If I'm better off getting a different set up what's some recommendations for around the $800aud mark? Thanks for any help
  10. Absolutely will need back ups, but the writing will likely be updated into a OneDrive periodically. Yeah I've got a gitlab account, I guess I was just more looking for one central hosting place that I could have everything whenever I need it rather than having multiple different cloud solutions depending on the file
  11. It's my first week and I already have 3GB just of basic data sets. Wouldn't be shocked if I end up with a 300gb worth if I start incorporating videos into the projects
  12. Hey sorry if this is in the wrong place, wasn't quite sure where to put it. I'm just starting my PhD in sports analytics and will need to set up some sort of storage solution for my projects and it would be easier if everything was stored in one place rather than across, git, one drive, local storage ect. My requirements - Working across 3 computers - Most likely need to give supervisors access - Storing R code, largeish data sets, word docs, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, large video files What would be my best storage solution for this? I thought possibly a NAS but got advised just to use online storage Any help much appreciated Thanks, Dave
  13. Hey (sorry if something like this has been asked before, had a look and couldn't see the exact same thing) I currently run 2 monitors (asus tuf 27' 2k 144hz and some cheapo Benq thing) and my secondary monitor has basically gone really weird where the contrast is all out of whack no matter what I change and all the yellows come out as lime green. So I am taking this as an opportunity to look into upgrading to an ultrawide just to have my set up look a little cleaner. PC specs: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, 2070 super, 32gb ram My questions: if I use screen regions so that my game window is only the equivalent of my current 27' screen while I game while my 2070 super be able to run games at 144hz at medium to high settings? (don't mind having to drop down to 1080 equivalent) With the programs out there that let you define a screen regions on a monitor are there any that let you set different profiles? e.g. A gaming profile and a productivity profile that just changes the size of different regions Any recommendations for a monitor? Some sort of USB passthrough hub and speakers would be really nice and I give 0 shits about RGB Cheers, Dave

    First stereo

For Christmas I got some vinyl records to support the local bands so I need to build my first stereo so I can play the records. It just so happens my dad is thinking of downsizing his stereo so he can just have a Bluetooth speaker and a turntable, so we are discussing me buying him a new set up and me taking his stereo set up. Just looking for some advice if this is a good starter set up I can build on and roughly the price just so I don't rip him off Marantz receiver sr4300 Marantz CD player cd4000 Marantz cassette deck sd4050 Pro-ject turntable Bowers and Wilkins speakers dm600s3 All this is probably from the mid 00s
  15. Thanks everyone. I figured it would be pretty unlikely to be something that would fit my need, just figured it was worth asking
