Because of the higher Voltage needet to get the 4.2Ghz running (P (in Watt) = U (in Volt) * I (in amps), so if U or I rises, youre Wattages rises and a lot more heat is beeing produced) -

Have had the same issue a while ago. For me the only way to fix it was to reinstall the nvidia driver. Mybe you could try echo "1" > /sys/bus/pci/devices/$NUMBER/reset while $NUMBER is the device id you get from lspci -vv (vv only if i remember right) to powercycle just this one card -

I'm not sure if im understanding it right, but no im not going to do direct die cooling. Had bad experience with it (broke the silicon of my old i3 when trying it) You can just apply liquid metal betwenn the heatspreader and the cpu. Should give me arround -20*C under full load -

Just messured my water temps. Seems like the high cpu temp comes form the bad intel thermal paste . i'm thinking of delidding the cpu and apply some proper thermal paste
