  1. Thanks for the suggestions! @Fasauceome Why a Vega64 instead of the 2070Super? Same-ish price, same-ish money output. I cant compare coin for coint since they work better on different coins. Are AMD cards more versatile? @OddGreyFox211 I might wait if efficiency was a big determining factor. Also it doesn't seem to be a release date yet. @jerzymaczewski Yeah, since I only have one slot to fill, I'm looking for as much processing power as possible, within the budget. 2080ti's seem to expensive, but maybe I should just go for it.
  2. My situation is that I have an abundance of solar power (Not charging my car anymore since I don't go anywhere) and where I live it's better to use it, than sending it to the grid. So I wanted to use some of the power to run a mining rig. I only have 1 available slot on my mining computer. I'm willing to invest 500-750 bucks. I'm thinking 2070 Super. Not too expensive, new enough that I can sell it in a few years. From my research it would make me around 50 ravencoin per day at current difficulty. I spent a lot of time on different calculators and it is making my head spin a little bit. I'm not willing to invest in a whole 6 GPU rig, right now. Is my plan good or bad? Other options? (This will also be used when I participate in different folding events for TeamLTT)
  3. Well done everyone. I dont know how many points we folded, but there was much heat and fun! Thanks @GOTSpectrum for organizing!
  4. I also get around 40C idle. I'm using Noctua NH-D15 as my cooler. I have 3 more fans in the case, 2 intake fans in the front, 1 exhaust fan out the back. When I run F@H without any adjustments overnight, the CPU sits at 87C at 3.9-4.0GHZ. CPU uses up 113 Watts. I use Ryzen Master to underclock my 3900X just to keep the temps down in my office . After all night folding on 22 threads it is sitting at around 73.5C. Clock speed is at 3.75GHz. CPU uses 75 Watts. It makes a difference in the temperature in the office, but its still warmer than anywhere else in the house. All numbers come from the Ryzen Master Application, I read that it's possible the power numbers are wrong depending on which x570 motherboard you use.
  5. Interesting. Looks like you were assigned a work server with the IP 192.0.2.1. There is no such server if you look at this page:https://apps.foldingathome.org/serverstats So it's totally normal that it would fail to connect. I would pause and then unpause, and see if you get a different server. Seems like the assignment server is misconfigured. I would give it a day and see if it gets resolved. This is not an issue you caused
  6. Thanks for setting up another folding event! Just signed up! So we only do one project for a week? That's so easy, nothing like the complicated Pentalon. (Kidding, sort of) Looking forward to fold with you all! Swedish
  7. I have a bunch of clean up to do.. Number fields and iber tasks.. ill finish them before i go to other things! Ok I have a question! When i run at 100% at 3.8Ghz my temps are 65C-ish. When I run at 50% (4.2GHz)my temps are 75Cish... why?? All because of the higher clock?
  8. Wow! 14 days of intense folding and temperatures! Thanks for organizing! 6th is an excellent result! Had a blast! Will be back next year, and for other folding events!
  9. Good idea! 3.8GHz -> 4.3GHz 12% more power.. but only for 5 threads.
  10. Likely outcome: We wont beat P3D in marathon, and retaking any places in Sprint will be hard since server is down. Ill keep chugging on rosetta...
  11. The graph for Sprint show us at 0 points in the last hour! Its the right call but funny anyway!
  12. Looks like we will be losing 2 spots in the Sprint. Unless we have huge bunkers. We are so close to 2nd in marathon! I'm going all in on Marathon, its 10 points if we pass P3D! Keep crunching!
  13. Thing with Amicable.. when others dump their work we get points to! If we have pending work of course (I think thats how quorum 2 works)
  14. Couldn't we just stop Amicable? We are 25 million points ahead and 10 million behind, I dont think we are going anywhere? Also production behind is way lower than us, it would take +25 hours for them to catch up with us doing no work at all.. Instead we could get a decent throw in for javelin and keep our current spot, or even gain one. Just 2 c
