You will need to locate all the FAH files and manually remove them, this I have found fixes the problem you are mentioning here, had it myself at one point.

I'm not seeing any better alternatives so the Air Frost 4 seems to be your best bet if you're looking for something cheap since the downdraft design will also be good for cooling the motherboard.

The H410R would be better. The Air Frost 4 probably wouldn't improve performance much but it should be quieter. https://youtu.be/GM5z9vfIn_o?t=557

Disclaimer: have not used this or even seen it before

That being said, it won't be significantly better than your stock cooler. It will likely be quieter simply because the fan is unlikely to be capable of spinning fast enough to be louder. It will be unlikely to allow you to overclock more or anything like that though, it's not designed for significant heat loads.

I also would question how good the quality is given they couldn't even shell out for a 4-pin fan.

That being said, it SHOULD still be quieter, and if it's your only option that you can afford, it would probably do what you want. Just not really good value nor would I expect an improvement in thermals, just a little bit less noise.

It does but you have to be careful not to pull too much that you can't complete it in time or you get your account rejected for new tasks because you've been assigned too many too recently. Last year I did the grab as much as a could on a single instance and let it run, this year I'll probably do the same.

    About the Pentathlon
The Pentathlon is an annual event for several BOINC teams to compete across five disciplines (five different BOINC projects) to gain points and win medals.  Several teams, but only one team comes out as the winner.  The event last for over two weeks.  If you up to the challenge, come on and join the team in competing in the pentathlon and see if your hardware can handle the heat.

BOINC will move all points to a new team.  About the only way I know to track points separate is to have a separate BOINC account for a team.

The point deal is also a know issue that occurs during the BOINC Pent as some folks will team hop on occasions and that causes a bit of issues while tracking points.

Seems about right. I see larger PPD for my stock/reference Titan V at CUDA clocks ( 1335Mhz ), than I see some folks here with 2080Tis

So it could be Core21 results, mixed with lack of Titans. Since NVIDIA more than doubled the price on them they're scarcer. Athlough getting "professional" drivers now is wonderful.

Shigeru reacted to TetraSky in Can LMG at least try to be reasonable? - screen recording is possible on a dual-core.
Didn't watch SC video and I'm sure you could do screen recordings on a single core CPU too, really, but I'll be honest. Dual cores need to die in a fire.
It's 2020, dual cores were already outdated back in 2010.

I'm not sure about macs, but on Windows, it's not rare to see dual cores working at over 50% most of the time on IDLE, only to be pinned at 100% more often than not because it just can't handle the load the moment you start doing anything. Even more so when you have more and more stuff running in the background these days.
Does it work? Sure. Could it be better? Absolutely.

Considering how expensive apple devices are, I'd expect at the bare minimum, to see a modern quad core in there, especially in 2020, for all the software that do benefits from having more cores.
Can't wait until more laptops are released with AMD Ryzen 4000 mobile series... Intel won't have any more excuses to keep releasing Dual Cores mobile cpus just because there was still no "competition" on that market.
