Quackwich got a reaction from OddOod in Sudden PC Sluggish/Slow Down
Bumping this thread as I am still facing the issue.
I have done the following:
- Reset the links on my powerline and PC
- Ran /sfc scannow; no problems found
- Reconnected the physical Ethernet cables on my PC
Jitter is still acceptable at <5 ms, sometimes <2 ms at non-peak hours.
I should also add that this issue seemingly happened out of nowhere. A couple days ago everything was fine.

Quackwich got a reaction from Roofus in [School assignment] What would YOU WANT in an ideal GPU anti-sag solution ?
Something that can not only fit nicely into the case, but is sturdy and easy to assemble. I've found that the ones that mount directly to the PCI brackets are the most finicky, so free standing ones are the best bet.
In terms of design, I'd like for my ideal GPU bracket to fit seamlessly with the case, like it's an accessory from the case or GPU manufacturer. If you look at beefy GPUs (RTX 3090s or 4090s) some manufacturers include an anti-sag bracket, especially for the higher end cards, maybe you can draw inspiration from there. Hope this helps!

Quackwich got a reaction from da na in Files disappearing on External SSD when being used on different computer
Are the files hidden or encrypted by the SSD itself? It's possible that your laptop's USB port may not be providing enough power for the SSD.
You could also try using a different cable if you have one. Make sure to safely eject the drive too.

Quackwich reacted to Boomwebsearch in Rumbling on start
Try blowing it out with compressed air, if that fails then most likely the fan is going to need a replacement of either the same size (I am guessing 120mm) or another fan configuration supported by your case.

Quackwich got a reaction from Mateyyy in OBS settings for the best quality possible?
He isn't streaming, he's recording, so bandwidth won't matter as much, only when uploading.

Quackwich got a reaction from Mateyyy in OBS settings for the best quality possible?
I think your limiting factor here would be storage if you plan to record extended gameplay in 4K, 60 FPS. Also, if the game you are running is very graphics intensive, you might see some stutter here and there.
There are some tutorials online teaching you how to record in 1080p, 2K or 4K, just check YouTube.

Quackwich got a reaction from WindowCleaner in prebuilt vs diy
There are some good value prebuilt systems out there, but in general, building your own is cheaper, especially if you know where to find good deals on parts.

Quackwich got a reaction from TekSupport in Internet Being Really Strange
Access your router's settings page and check to see if your computer shows up on the list of connected devices. Then, see if you can release or renew the connection. Make sure to "forget" the network on your computer too, and ensure that your WiFi card is running the latest drivers.

Quackwich got a reaction from JayBe in LTT Store Order Shipment still in status "label created"
In general, mail services all over the world are being disrupted. If it's stuck on "label created" means your package has been registered into the USPS system but either hasn't reached a sorting hub or hasn't left the LTT warehouse.
There's an alert on the USPS site for Germany:

To add to what @Quackwich said, try running ddu. I love this video as it explains it great:

Quackwich got a reaction from zeusthemoose in Trouble with GTX 1660TI after latest Nvidia Driver
Check your NVIDIA settings (right click desktop -> NVIDIA Control Panel). The new driver might have reset your NVIDIA settings. Make sure you're using your dedicated GPU and not your integrated GPU.
If not, uninstall your driver using DDU and install an older, more stable version.

He is that's the only thing I can think of would be a memory leak. In which case you should go back to main "stable" windows.

Quackwich reacted to Jarsky in Upgrading Servers from Ubuntu 18.04 LTS to 20.04 LTS
Ubuntu 20.04 is actually a huge upgrade to default 18.04, because it uses the new Linux 5.4 kernel.
The new kernel brings in exFAT support, GPU improvements, more platform support, thunderbolt support, VirtIO-FS for those using QEMU/KVM, and lots of general fixes.
For me the new Linux Kernel has so many changes it actually breaks my Nvidia/Docker so i'm unable to upgrade my Plex Server to Ubuntu 20.04 currently.
Most of this means nothing to the OP. You can update 18.04 to the new kernel by applying the HWE update, but default theres a big difference in the kernels (4.15 > 5.4).

Can't imagine any actual improvements. Its mostly some smaller changes. A lot being visual.

Quackwich got a reaction from TheMiniMiney in PRO guide to Overclocking?
For RAM, 2400Mhz is slow for DDR4, you're better off buying higher speed RAM than overclocking it.
What GPU do you have?

Quackwich got a reaction from wamred in Do i need to always plug my laptop?
Leaving the battery at 100% capacity will decrease its lifespan, but running it through repeated discharge and recharge cycles will also decrease its lifespan. Basically, whatever you do, your battery will wear down and lose capacity, that's just the drawback of lithium ion batteries right now.

I don't have a .edu email, but an email from my university with a different ending. It's also eligible for a Student Beans account, so that would also work.
