Methinks this may have something to do with dust entering the fans? A more proper solution would be to have proper mesh, maybe they decided in the last minute that having proper mesh was a bit more expensive, so they use paper instead, since the component would still operate to spec (temps, base clock) anyways. The reason they didn't so this with Intel may simply be Intel chips running a bit too hot when they did that.

Yup, setting up a passkey is one of the first things I did when I started folding (which is 2016)

ComputerBase-HardwareLuxx Folding Team How did that happen? I don't remember ever joining that team. The only teams I've ever joined are Default, Team Canada, and LTT.

Hmmm, A sponsor from any of the RGB trio would be nice, since they come with the added bonus of extra hardware.

I see, so it's all servers on deck to spin the power metres as fast as possible cope with all the demand? Let's hope those extra servers are enough to stave off any... supply and demand issues. We've had enough supply and demand problems in recent times as is.

What is this, constant WUs for the last 24 hours?! WHAT'S HAPPENING?!?!?! I had all but given up and starting crunching Milky-way bars and only sporadically restarting FAH, and now I'm being flooded with a steady stream of WUs. Did the LTT server make all that difference? Or has there been a battalion of new servers setup to spin our power metres and warm our homes?

bequite IHS damaged by Dark Rock Pro 4 - punctured and scratched
TH1813254617 replied to BruhMan69420's topic in Cooling
Sorry to necro this thread, but I purchased the Dark Rock Pro 4 and used it with the stock thermal paste. It's worse, due to the fact that I've twisted the cooler off the CPU. I rigorously clean everything before tightening things down, so I don't think there should be anything hard enough to scratch and pit the IHS. Only explanation I can think of is hard impurities in the stock paste. -
Out of WUs, again. Good thing Rosetta's still keeping my CPU busy.

Many, many factors affect temps. I wouldn't surprised in the slightest if the phase of the moon and alignment of the planets had something to do with it. I'm using the Sapphire Pulse RX5700 housed within a Cooler Master MB511 case, which is an airflow optimized case with a mesh front, and I am running quite an aggressive fan cu... Wait, did the Radeon Software reset my fan curve again?! God !#@%ing dammit! Never-mind, turns out that was with the stock fan curve, that explains the lack of fan noise from my GPU. What version of the 5700 are you running?

Hmm, I've tried gaming while folding on my RX 5700, and that resulted in my PPD dropping from 900K-950K to about 800k-850k, and my game still held steady above 60fps. But then, I play mostly Minecraft and Don't Starve.

I think you'll be fine, just make sure the voltages are sane, the stock settings should be safe for 24/7 running. Is that a 3600 I'm seeing?

Well, unfortunately, isn't that what the average person is these days? Shaking my head at the state of education these days. To be fair, it is human nature to be tribal about things, humans tend to guard their own preconceptions, sometimes even in the face of indisputable evidence. On a more related note, I hope LTT brings their own WU server up soon. We might crash the FAH servers, again... Crashing the WU servers are not quite helpful for furthering the cause of science.

Welp, I've tried pausing and unpausing, restarting (actually, it was a blackout), restarting the client, nothing worked. Even when I do get a WU, the transfer fails. Any ideas? Thanks! Update: I've spoke too soon, new GPU WU for my RX 5700 from project 14533. The FAH projects page list those as "CPU projects to simulate COVID-19 proteins to learn about their dynamics and function". Maybe they are updating these projects to give out GPU tasks too?
