I am using a hdmi 2.0 cable but not sure about the adapter

I am using a razer blade stealth gtx 1650 max q. To output to a 1440p 144hz monitor but for some reason the monitor is only showing the option for 60hz and 1080p. Is it because of the adapter or because of my laptop

I have a razer blade stealth with gtx 1650 max q and I use a razer core x with a rtx 2070 super

If my laptop has a 60hz screen and if I get an external monitor with 144hz screen and connect it will the monitor be at 144hz or 60hz
