If you want to virtualize desktops for 20 users please include a budget for a psychiatrist. VDI is expensive and doesn't scale well on prem for 20 users.

PCs are stupid cheap. Far cheaper than the cost of desktop virtualization and far easier to manage

Depending on your monitor, resolution and refresh rate this processor might bottleneck a higher end card.
You can read about it here:
    https://www.tomshardware.com/features/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-ampere-cpu-scaling-benchmarks
Check graphs for i3 10100 as it will be more or less the same as your i7 6700K

I would watch those videos in your place before making decision:

This because your motherboard is PCIe 3:

If you don't want to change CPU and Mobo soon than get something lower end and when you decide upgrade whole system.

Budget (including currency): I am looking for a GPU that will last few years but not to overpay (PLN)
    Country: Poland
Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games/ PC VR (Oculus2) > Unreal Engine/Unity  > sometimes VM labs
Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Not looking to overlocking or replacing parts every year.
If my GPU would still be alive, I would not bother to upgrade - was happy with it 😪.

Looking for a new GPU that will last for a few years and it's pottential would be usable (don't want to overpay for something that will be not used)
Also was thinking about new RAM if it will make significant difference.

Open to listen for opinions with following "why" part to learn something in a process.

Thank you in advance good people!

So I just spent half an hour playing around on my Ubuntu install to see if I could replicate your issue and you're correct. By default Blender does not use my 5700 XT.

I did some digging and again you're correct, you do need the pro driver to fix the issue but its not as simple as just installing the driver. You need to specify that you want it to install OpenCL.

If you've already installed the Pro driver you need to uninstall first (obviously skip this is you haven't installed it yet)

    Open terminal
    Issue cd /usr/bin
    Issue ./amdgpu-pro-uninstall -y
    When its finished reboot

    To fix blender

    Download the driver
    Extract it
    Open terminal
Change directory to the root of the driver
    Issue ./amdgpu-pro-install -y --opencl=legacy,pal
    When its finished reboot

Now in Blender you can go in to Preferences and enable OpenCL rendering. I should note this worked with my 5700XT but since my card is a Navi and yours is an Islands based card I cannot guarantee this will work for you (though theres no reason why it shouldn't).

sloniupl reacted to JayEee in What's the best wireless keyboard?
Tried lots of keyboards, my favorite is the Logi MX keys, it is a membrane keyboard but the feel is VERY nice and super quiet (good for streaming), I prefer it to mechanical keyboards. Great for games IMO, short throw and great feel.
1/4 more expensive than 25000 HUF, but IMO it is worth the extra cost  .. and it'll probably last way longer than other keyboards due to the quality.
The only thing I don't like is the mixed MacOS key printing on the ALT and START keys, I wish they would separate the Windows and Mac worlds and provide extra keys that are specific to Windows or Mac. The "Opt" and " Cmd" printing continues to confuse me during use. I guess I could just grab a black marker and draw over the MacOS printing lol

I had a similar issue, this is what I did and have not had a problem since.
    Keep the router
    Disable Wifi on the router
Get an ORBI Wifi Mesh or similar, 3-4 unit mesh
Hook it up to the router and just use that for wifi mesh
Let the linksys control the routing and access.

Also, Google wifi testing apps, I use inSSider, it can tell you what all channels are saturated in your environment, and you can chose a channel that has the least interference.
That should help with the wifi thruput issue.

You can do this investigation before you go out spending money, this may show you where the issues are and you may be able to fix it.

Its most definitely the motherboard at this point. I have swapped PSUs and I still get crashes. I doubt its any other component that isn't the motherboard. I think the smartest choice for me is to buy a new one.

If you could put picture of your PC that might help but if you see shutdown due to temp it looks like the contact with coldplate of your cooler is not good, maybe  you screwed one/two screws to tight on one side before screwing the others and contact is incorrect due to that.
If not try moving it how it was before and see the temps.

I've also been using this a bit the last few days, I have it permanently setup on my bench. Ibm pc350 which has a pentium 166mhz, 32mb ram, stuck in a Matrox Millennium pci 2mb graphics card and a 3gb hard disk. It's running Windows 95C for the fat32 support. It's not the matching monitor but it works 😊

Also have an old HP Vectra so see if it works, it has a Pentium II 333 in it, but it's missing the hard drive cage so will have to figure something out

I would contact the seller to clarify what is installed and how to boot it as you said it's new and never worked

Checking the internet it looks like common thing with thios model and linux on it:
    https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/cant-boot-from-usb-and-install-windows.3573389/
    https://community.acer.com/en/discussion/580847/first-linux-boot-acer-nitro-5-an-515-54

Some solved it by installing Windows 10 on it but if you don't have the license i would try installing Linux Mint that is supporting Secure Boot.

Check if secure boot is enabled  and try disabling it in uefi. There is also possibility they didn't install linux at all and are just calling it "Linux" cause it doesn't' have Windows installed
