  1. They probably did the math and accept a lower (but not necessarily much lower) profit margins.
  2. I wonder what kind of profit Gigabyte is making through this PSU. They have to provide replacement on at least half of the sales they make and that gets worse when you count the possibility of other components getting fried (which is a damage that they should cover). The bundles never stopped being sold for ages, and that should imply that Gigabyte is adamant selling this PSU. If an SI is using this PSU, that means whoever is running it is a complete idiot.
  3. No, don't do that. You only need to turn off the switch when you are working with the internals of the PC. They are not designed to be turned on and off frequently.
  4. Which be quiet 500W are you talking about? Pure Power 11? Pure Power L8? System Power? The CX 500 (I assume this is the bronze version) and Hyper K are about the same, both are old, group regulated units. Not suitable for systems with modern GPU, so I am actually someone who (subjectively) believe that these old PSUs are not at all should be used, even temporarily. I have to admit I am very picky on PSUs though.
  5. Maybe you meant AX. It was discontinued a couple of months ago. CX (gray) was discontinued because it was a poor seller and was too expensive.
  6. Hmm, I recall it was it 12V dropping down below 11.4V at protection testing?
  7. I hope Jon is incorrect and it is not a PSU issue, but that does look like the protection kicking in. Though, I'd say that it is not necessarily the multi rail configuration that caused this, it could be something else. I'm not yet convinced that there is a widespread issue on multi rail PSUs (CWT GPU in particular) tripping with high transient cards.
  8. There is no reviews that covers great details such as EMI on the 850W+, nor I see any sort of reviews that "trash" it. 850W and above isn't the same as 750W and below. EMI MIGHT be a problem but we have no way of telling whether it's unit specific or production-wide. ROG strix does not have "much better cooling", it is cooler on some parts but the OG seasonic heatsinks does a better job of cooling the critical components that may experience thermal runaway. From the three I'd pick the RMx even though it's more expensive, because it performs the best. You might better be opening a new thread that you can give greater details such as where you are from and what shop will you plan buying from.
  9. It is not in gold because P2's fan curve is bad. It is very noisy at mid to high loads and does not meet blue colour (which is a requirement for gold colour). For more details you can check the spreadsheet and check the second page called "methodology", in which there is an explanation of how P2 is not "better" than RMx.
  10. These information are most often not provided by the manufacturer. You can use this spreadsheet to check, though.
  11. That is complete nonsense. Focus is not a design that goes above 1000W. Using the year the PSUs are released are much easier rather than having to memorize the CP number. You do realize that these numbers are not memorize-able, right? I doubt you even memorize them .
  12. Leadex III is so much better than the G3, which is based on the Leadex II.
  13. There might be some truth to this statement but it's still a very bad idea to "teach" this. It's like saying "In general Intel is better than AMD in gaming" which is true to some extent, but very bad to convey as it has a huge potential to mislead someone. You can rate the AX1600i as not even clearing 80+ bronze by changing how the switching frequency is. You can also take a random gold PSU, take anything that is not absolutely necessary (filtering capacitors, additional protections, etc.) and get it to clear 80+ titanium while having completely trash performance.
  14. What GPU are you using with this subpar power supply?
  15. ASUS TUF and Corsair CX is pretty similar to each other. Get whichever one is cheaper.
  16. Likely just coil whine, because you paired an ACRF PSU (the topology used on the primary side on the EVGA GQ) with a power hungry card like the 3080.
  17. I didn't see good alternatives to the C650, so I think it's a solid choice given what you have and the market situation is like there.
  18. I'm surprised no one brought the fact that your PSU is a really old budget PSU. I'd replace it. Is there any good online computer store from Chile that you can link?
  19. I know right, it is weird. But it seems to be the case. We know that 850W is most likely the same as the 1200W because the length and the switch at the back is different to the 750W (same as 1200W). Source: https://www.rosewill.com/product-category/power-supplies/power-supply/ I agree on the MSI though.
