vf1000ride got a reaction from CommanderAlex in Do Canon cameras break easily or are planned to break?
I don't know of anyone with problems with Canon gear as long as it doesn't get dropped.  They are generally precision equipment and are not tolerant of falls onto hard surfaces from even short distances.  I have a Rebel T1i (500d) that I bought new in 2010 and it's still going strong for me.  The lower end lenses from Canon are made with a lot of plastic parts.  Even their high end L Glass series lenses are easy to damage if roughed around though.  I had my camera and EF 24-104 F4L lens on my motorcycle when I crashed in 2016 and the camera survived but the lens broke internally that it would no longer focus.

Would not recommend the mid-late 80's if you wanted something fast regardless of brand.  Sorry to say but they are terribly slow cars and do not prove your point in any way.  I have a 1987 Buick Grand National and it was faster than the corvette in every way but top speed back in the 80's and I can tell you with all certainty it is a slow car compared to most modern 4-door sedans today.  I can't imagine how it must feel to drive a stock 1987 corvette knowing it has even less HP and Torque than the v6 in my Buick.

It is unless you want to travel the world chasing them. 😋  The next one in my part of the country won't happen till after I'm dead.  I'm 47 and this will be my first time to see a total solar eclipse.  I got to see the partial that was in ohio maybe 10 years ago but I was at the racetrack with the motorcycle when it happened so I didn't get to see much of it.

Not sure if you had tried it yet, but for airshows and higher speed objects that I am panning and moving to get the shot, I make sure to turn off the image stabilizer (IS) on my lens.  For stationary subjects the IS takes your hand/body motion out of the lens and helps get a clearer image.  When both you and the subject are moving the IS can actually add more motion to your shot and will give you blurry edges as it causes the image to pause and then jump forward as it tries to freeze the motion again when it gets to the end of its range.  When you are running a slow shutter speeds, that jump can happen while the shutter is open and will guaranty a blurry image.   Another cheat I use is I normally carry a lightweight monopod when I shoot at airshows, even a lightweight selfie stick would work.  I don't extend it to ground length but usually only to about waist level and I hold the end of it with my outstretched arm.  It allows you to support some of the camera weight for longer without fatigue but also allows you to stabilize the camera better while you can still turn your body at the waist to take the shots.  Small wiggles with your hand and fingers at waist level are going to make for much less camera shake than if you are holding the body directly.  If you still wanted both hands on the camera/lens they make a belt pocket/pouch thing that you can put the end of the monopod in so you are supporting it on your waist but have both hands free to run the camera. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=monopod+waist+pouch&crid=4R2GMWEQMD8&sprefix=monopod+waist+pouch%2Caps%2C89&ref=nb_sb_noss_1

I took this one last year of Fat Albert with my Canon T1i and a mid tier EF 28-135USM lens.  ISO-200, f/8, 1/400 so I didn't get great prop blur I knew they were only going to make 1 or 2 passes and didn't want to miss a good closeup shot.  Another trick I found that works for my gear at least is to not run the zoom all the way to the stops on my lens.  When I zoom in I run it to the stop and then back it off ever so slightly and I seem to get better focus from my lens.  The meta data says I shot this at 115mm.

I guess I'm just a grumpy old, grey beard, get off my lawn old fart,  but Marketplace is just as bad from a sellers standpoint.  I have never tried to buy anything from there but at this point in the game I would rather just throw my unused stuff in the trash than deal with trying to sell things to the ungrateful pos people on either of those platforms that live in my area.  Just ask me about how many people tried to offer up unwanted pets to me in trade for a motorcycle I was trying to sell that was listed as cash only/no trades.  😖

I love the old warbirds.  You got a great capture of the B-17.  Amazingly enough I have an interesting photo I took of that same aircraft at an airshow a bunch of years ago, mid to late 1990's timeframe.  Unfortunately I have lost the info about what my camera settings were but I shot this one with a 35mm Canon QL19 Canonet point and shoot that was made in the 1960's or 70's.  I took the picture out the Pilots side window.

Yep, 2016 Pikes Peak.  Got the cams out and pulled all the shims to measure them and figure out what the new sizes I need.  Here's the latest photo with everything pulled out.  Hopefully tomorrow night I can start getting things put back in.  Can't say I like holding the valves in place with zip ties. 😜

The 18K mile service is due on my Multistrada.  $900 in parts so far and only half way done.  Chain, sprockets, air/fuel/oil filters, new spark plugs and some gaskets.  Took the rear axle out and checked/re-greased the rear bearings.  Have the valve covers off and the valves need adjusting, that will be tomorrows project to pull the cams and re-shim everything.

I don't own one but for being as a semi-educated guess is that the subwoofer faces down.  The soundbar needs to know if it has a reflective surface below the speaker or if the surface is behind it, it probably changes the sound processing to the subwoofer to compensate for the way it's mounted.

I get the cheap ear plugs from the sleep aid isle at the food store.  Less than $10 for a whole bag full of the foam rubber ear plugs.  When I was younger I didn't wear them and now I wear hearing aids and listen to my tinnitus instead of enjoying sleep.  Still rock out at unsafe levels though.  Oh well, once a metalhead always a metalhead.  🤘

I'm a 90's metal head.  Prefer Metallica over most but do enjoy Pantera, Anthrax, Megadeth, Mudvayne, Mushroomhead and many more from the metal/rock genre's.  Here's a couple grainy pictures I took with a disposable 35mm camera at the free concert Metallica played in Philadelphia in 1997.  Oldtimers is setting in 🙂 but I want to say I have seen them maybe 14-15 times over the years. 🤘
