  1. i've just noticed that i had the port mapped for TCP and not UDP... the whole day of formatting the PI and reconfiguring everything from scratched multiple times probably killed my brain, at least it works now, checking if "port mapping" was the right term made me notice the issue ^^" what worked in the end is: settings the public IP and not the DNS mapping the port as UDP
  2. in my router i have "port mapping" so i guess it's more a port forwarding :think i can use "port mapping" or "port triggering" from what i found on google port mapping is what i should have used
  3. hey guys, i'm currently trying to make a vpn tunnel using wireguard as server/client to connect my laptop when i'm not at home to control my main PC, i've followed 5 different guides on youtube on how to setup the raspberry pi as a VPN using wireguard but still i can't connect anything to the pivpn and i don't understand why. this is what i have/have done: - installed pivpn on my PI - set a DNS pointing to my public ip address to a domain name (somethingsomething.domain.com) - set the DNS on pivpn - set the raspberry pi IP to a static one on my router - set the DNS using google ones during install - opened the port of my router (51820 which is the default for wireguard) - created the user for my laptop - connected wireguard on my laptop (kali linux) using the output .conf file as configuration file for wg0.conf - created the user for my phone - installed wireguard on my phone - connected my phone with the QR code output from the pivpn terminal i've tried even to reconfigure pivpn to use my public ip address to avoid issues with the DNS but looks like it wasn't the issue the result is: - i can't connect anything to the pi - i can't ping anything to the pi - i don't understand what's the issue - i'd love to check some logs but i don't know how to....... the most recent video i followed was from 8 months ago, i don't think it's outdated (?) do you guys have any other way to setup a VPN with even other software and always using the raspberry or even some other ideas i can try even if the raspberry is not involved this is the ouput of pivpn -d (which shows the debug ::: Generating Debug Output :::: PiVPN debug :::: ============================================= :::: Latest commit :::: Branch: master Commit: a85d3752ef94ed1aaad70ba6d483f93583152eca Author: Orazio Date: Wed Dec 13 18:09:55 2023 +0100 Summary: fix(scripts): disallow using server's name as client name (#1791) ============================================= :::: Installation settings :::: PLAT=Raspbian OSCN=bookworm USING_UFW=0 pivpnforceipv6route=1 IPv4dev=eth0 dhcpReserv=1 IPv4addr=192.168.1.30/24 IPv4gw=192.168.1.1 install_user=y0ur5h4d0wpi install_home=/home/y0ur5h4d0wpi VPN=wireguard pivpnPORT=51820 pivpnDNS1=8.8.8.8 pivpnDNS2=8.8.4.4 pivpnHOST=REDACTED INPUT_CHAIN_EDITED=0 FORWARD_CHAIN_EDITED=0 INPUT_CHAIN_EDITEDv6= FORWARD_CHAIN_EDITEDv6= pivpnPROTO=udp pivpnMTU=1420 pivpnDEV=wg0 pivpnNET=10.52.114.0 subnetClass=24 pivpnenableipv6=0 ALLOWED_IPS="0.0.0.0/0, ::0/0" UNATTUPG=1 INSTALLED_PACKAGES=() ============================================= :::: Server configuration shown below :::: [Interface] PrivateKey = server_priv Address = 10.52.114.1/24 MTU = 1420 ListenPort = 51820 ### begin ShadowDragon ### [Peer] PublicKey = ShadowDragon_pub PresharedKey = ShadowDragon_psk AllowedIPs = 10.52.114.2/32 ### end ShadowDragon ### ============================================= :::: Client configuration shown below :::: [Interface] PrivateKey = ShadowDragon_priv Address = 10.52.114.2/24 DNS = 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 [Peer] PublicKey = server_pub PresharedKey = ShadowDragon_psk Endpoint = REDACTED:51820 AllowedIPs = 0.0.0.0/0, ::0/0 ============================================= :::: Recursive list of files in :::: :::: /etc/wireguard shown below :::: /etc/wireguard: configs keys wg0.conf /etc/wireguard/configs: clients.txt ShadowDragon.conf /etc/wireguard/keys: server_priv server_pub ShadowDragon_priv ShadowDragon_psk ShadowDragon_pub ============================================= :::: Self check :::: :: [OK] IP forwarding is enabled :: [OK] Iptables MASQUERADE rule set :: [OK] WireGuard is running :: [OK] WireGuard is enabled (it will automatically start on reboot) :: [OK] WireGuard is listening on port 51820/udp ============================================= :::: Having trouble connecting? 4. hi all! i was considering to upgrade my rtx 2060 super (amp!) dual fan model from zotac with a used MSI Radeon RX 6750 XT GAMING X TRIO 12G, this used card has less then 1 year, i don't care much about ray tracing tbh, i'm planning to play at least at 1440p sometimes 4k, but mostly older games for the 4k part, i know in productivity the RX 6700 XT is pretty amazing, my question is, how bit of an upgrade am i getting? i'm running UBUNTU 23.02 and the nvidia drivers here a hot garbage (even though i get more fps here in elden ring at 1440p all at ultra then in windows 10/11 that i have to get at mid to have 60 fps ^^")
  5. hi all! i've seen this monitor on amazon which is from one of my favourite brands (xiaomi) and it looks pretty good at a not so bad price, my question is: does anyone here have it? how does it perform? actual color accuracy? i would use for graphic design, video editing, after effects, and of course gaming, is it any good? is there something better at the same price? i will pair it in the future with an asus MG28U which is a 4k monitor but at 60hz amazon link: https://www.amazon.it/Xiaomi-Gaming-Monitor-33423-BHR5039GL/dp/B09LT7MR4P/ref=sr_1_2?__mk_it_IT=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&crid=QG3GTVCBQ0FX&keywords=xiaomi+2k+monitor&qid=1684919393&sprefix=xiaomi+2k+monito%2Caps%2C124&sr=8-2
  6. hi all! lately i've been feeling in a need for an upgrade, i corrently run a 2060 super amp from zotac (which works still really really well) but i would love to have a GREAT gpu instead of a middle-low tier one, i don't care much about the ray tracing tbh so i was thinking about the AMD 6700 XT which in italy it can be fount at around 350€ in italy (which should be around 400$ US if i did the math sort of correctly) , my questions are: 1. wihch are the most reputable brand for an AMD cards? 2. should i wait for the 7000 series and see if they are within the budget? 3. will the prices actually get lower when the 7000 series launch? they seem pretty law already in the used market 4. which monitor should i buy to have a great experience of color accuracy (i need it for graphic design and video making) and still be 1440p 144hz who doesn't cost a couple organs? i'm currently using an asus MG28U which is a 60hz 3480x2160 monitor 28" though i wouldn't mind going for a 1440p still as big as 28" or a little less, my plan would be to buy 2 monitors in the future and keep the asus as second or third so 28" would be perfect!
  7. hi all! i'm planning about streaming a full live concert of my band on twitch using multiple yi action camera, the problem i'm trying to solve is first of all a way to connect more then 1 action cam to my windows PC, this happens because the yi action cam is connected using it's own wifi to the phone usually, but i found out that using a software called "yi master" i can connect it to my PC using a wifi dongle, the actual problem is that when i connect it to my PC in order to stream it somewhere i have to use LAN, so if i have say 5 cameras i need at least 5 dongles AND 1 lan or another dongle to connect to the internet to properly stream my video on twitch using OBS... is there a way to connect multiple wifi cam without having to buy a million dongles?
  8. Hi all! i'm trying to control a Led Strip using my raspberry Pi, i've made the full circuit and found the code, everythign works fine beside the fact that when i turn on my raspberry the led strip turns on white at full bright and even if i use a python script to make the led strip fade red the strip is still lit white when the red light is set to 0 (or "off) though, when the red light is set to 255 (or max brightness) the led actually becomes red.... i'm not a code master nor a linux master, can anyone help me understand how to shut down the white color please? ^^" thanks!
  9. right now i'm running a 500gb WD scorpio blue that i suppose is 5400rpm and games looks pretty nice and smooth so i guess i'd stick with a 256gb SSD soon... at least and HDD or SSD is way more reliable then an SD card (and waaaaay faster in case i need it)
  10. thanks everyone guys! in the end i found this ebay listing for around 90€ (85 after using the xmas coupon from the ebay app) that looked pretty interesting and i bought it RaspberryPi Raspberry Pi Raspberry Pi 4-STARTER KIT (4gb) 5051259227293 | eBay now my question is: retropie seems to NOT like the fact that i want to run my roms from an external HDD i've tried all their guides for automatic and manual rom mount but somehow after using the manual mount of my HDD retropie seems not to recognize it after the reboot... i was thinking about running retropie straight from the HDD since is a 500GB 5400rpm (slow i know) is it possible? if it's not a really good solution, are there some alternatives to retropie?
  11. hi all! i'm building my very fist bartop, googling around i found out that one of the "easiest" way to make one is to use a Raspberry Pi using RetroPie, i've basically already ordered everything except for the Raspberry, my question is, which version and kit is the most worth to buy? I almost zero knowledge about raspberry and the whole system but i'm actually curious about getting some knowledge! Right now i was looking at a couple Raspberry Pi3 or Pi3 Plus kits i found on ebay or aliexpress that around 100 and 140€, was wondering if there's someone who can advice a sweetspot between performances and price since i'm building it for me right now I live in italy and i'm seeking mostly on Amazon but i don't mind ebay or aliexpress too if there's something worth! On RetroPie website 's guide they advice to use this one: https://www.amazon.com/stores/CanaKit/page/19109D80-639C-40C8-9222-DC6775C304EE ...but honestly in italy this full kit costs between 170 and 200€ and i'd like to use the VGA to HDMI adapter i already have These 2 are the links to ebay and aliexpress kits i've found for the pi3 which are almost half the price https://www.ebay.it/itm/114094743859?hash=item1a9093a133:g:t0YAAOSwi5VeNc7o https://it.aliexpress.com/item/32945416376.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.7296270aOWyHkQ&algo_pvid=2f641e50-7c39-4c3f-b1f0-8bb47504c71a&algo_exp_id=2f641e50-7c39-4c3f-b1f0-8bb47504c71a-7&pdp_ext_f={"sku_id"%3A"66160471373"}
  12. F i guess i'm stuck with windows sad that Adobe is not working towards linux OS... but i guess it won't make enough money for them
  13. i use windows to edit videos, audio and graphic design, i'm confident ONLY with the adobe software, is there a way to have it work on linux? is it reliable? this is the only stuff that's holding me to windows to be honest, i've seen steam works amazing with all games and i guess i can play windows games i download """""out of steam""""" with zero problems... i've looked up on google and on official adobe forum it's said there's still no information or an idea about a linux porting of adobe software so i ask you guys that for sure know more about linux then me if there's a work around to at least try! i'd love to switch or even just make a dual boot drive to get used to linux before a full switch
  14. what i'm going to tell you is the "EXTREME" solution in case anything you tried before doesn't work, so try to solve the problems somehow to prevent data loss. just open: "*drive letter where windows was installed*\Users\*YOUR USER NAME*" and copy the whole folder to another drive, done this you've mostly saved something like 99% of the files you might lose, after this, you can seek for folders you've made that are not in the that folder and you'll be fine, inside "\Users\*YOUR USER NAME*" you can find almost everything as you will see, documents, music, videos, downloads, desktop etc etc... but there could be some folder you made somewhere that's not included in your desktop or in your documents for example . Basically what you have to do is save what you're sure you can't find anywhere else or you can't download from anywhere to another drive. of course i'm talking about copying FROM the drive where the faulty windows is installed, the other drives obviously won't be effected, you might need to reinstall some of the software/games if you had them on other drives but nothing too hard to do couple tips: - DO NOT CUT AND PASTE, ALWAYS COPY. it's important because if something happens like the paste command freeze and you force stop you might lose data. - TAKE YOUR TIME WHILE DOING THIS KIND OF BACKUP. after a fresh install is possible to try to recover files you missed, but with 90% probability stuff got overwritten and are corrupted or lost and the struggle to try to look for lost data is not worth. when you're 100% sure you've copied EVERYTHING you have to save* i'd raccomand you to unplug ALL the drives you have on your PC that are NOT where the non working windows is installed right now, then shut down the PC, plug the USB, run windows install, choose "custom installation", "delete" the disk, create a new disk, format it and install windows in there and you're fine with a completely fresh windows install! (if you don't understand everything i typed just check on youtube how to make a fresh windows install and it will have for sure the full procedure on screen! ). after windows is installed you can simply plug your drives and copy back everything you saved on the other drives (or PC) in the same directory where you found everything and you're fine! at least this is the exact procedure i do when someone has some weird windows issues i can't solve easly *i'm not reposible for hypotetical data loss, please be careful and backup everything you need from your windows drive
