well, my card is broken but not completely dead. I get artifacts while gaming on my screen if I leave the settings to high, and on defaults my system crashes/ But if you cut the memory clock it might work correctly, even if it is weaker.

Both will perform the same overall as long as the 2x16 is Dual ranked sticks and not single ranked. That said, Ryzen CPUs generally prefer and are more stable with 2x over 4x.

We don't even know what motherboard you have.

If it's a motherboard with beefy power delivery, a 5900X will not struggle to deliver full performance. If you need PCIe 4.0 then it's a different matter, but in regards to just the CPU, a lot of X470 motherboards are more than good enough

Donut Dan reacted to Master Delta Chief in SteamPal is a fact. Valve announced their first handheld console named Steam Deck
    Summary
Remember the post awhile back that Valve was developing some sort of handheld console. Well it turns out that the SteamPal is true. Valve has introduced their new piece of hardware called the Steam Deck. It is a handheld device similar to the GPD devices and of course the Nintendo Switch. The console will start at $399 with 64GB eMMC storage and also a carrying case. Following versions are:
$529: 256GB NVMe SSD, carrying case and an exclusive Steam Community Profile bundle $699: 512 NVMe SSD, premium anti-glare etched glass, exclusive carrying case, exclusive steam community profile bundle and exclusive virtual keyboard theme  Reservations are available in select regions such as: EU, United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. More info on other regions will come later.

    My thoughts
Didn't expect it to be announced so soon, especially with the current global shortage of chips and what not. Though with that said, I do wonder if they'll be able to deliver enough of the hardware since their Valve Index kind of flopped on that regard when they started selling it.

A different dual socket motherboard will be really expensive, even used. In fact it's usually the motherboard that sinks the cost on these old systems. I wouldn't recommend going dual CPU for these tasks, one 6 core CPU with hyperthreading is adequate. Less power draw, less fan noise, a bit more convenient.

SATA 2 is only gonna affect bandwidth, but the snappy responsiveness of general computing is hardly an issue, not sure if that was your primary concern.

I'm pretty sure these old servers can indeed have NVMe added, if a high bandwidth secondary drive is important to you. Can't boot off PCIe but you can use it for fast storage.

looking at motherboards, it would seem that MSI are the only ones right now with a habit of using the same name on very different boards. Specifically the MSI B450 A-Pro and the B450M A-Pro appear to be radically different, despite implying the size is the only difference.

I highly suggest the used market for the graphics card and motherboard. When it comes to mouse and keyboard, your personal taste is pretty important as well. I came up with this parts list, and you should add parts that you'd need:

    PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LMs3Qq
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor  ($167.00 @ Newegg)

An excellent GPU choice would be an RX 580 or 480 from eBay, preferably 8GB, but if you actually manage to ses a ryzen 3 3100 or 3300X in stock, that is a great way to save money and put even more into the graphics card. You might even be able step up to a GTX 1070, or something like a GTX 1660 super.

Donut Dan reacted to Spotty in Is the bequiet straight power 11 650w good for my build
You can set PCPP to UK and it will show UK stores and prices. The Antec Neo Eco Gold's doesn't show any availability on PCPP UK and the Silverstone SX500-LG is an SFX-L power supply, not ATX. SFX might have compatibility issues with their case and cable length (they're meant for smaller ITX cases and they have shorter cables than regular PSUs that might not reach to fit in larger cases).

The Corsair TXM seems to be in stock. The TX550M would also be fine for the build and is available at various places for 80 pounds if they wanted a cheaper alternative.
The Straight Power 11 is a better PSU than the TXM though. Could go with the 550W model but it seems they're sold out at most places.

The Straight Power 11 is a great PSU and 650W is more than plenty.

The 9400F uses about 80W and the GPU about 170W. Add around 100W for the rest of the system and you can see 650W is way more than needed.
You could certainly get away with the 550W version too.

Unfortunately there are no "regular PCIe cables", but you can tell us the model of your power supply and hopefully we could think of something. Also, you can ask the manufacturer if replacement cables are available.

Your best option would be to contact the manufacture or to buy replacement modular sleeved cables that is specific for your PSU. You cannot mix and match any PCI-E power cable as each PSU manufacture has their own pinout and standard they use on the PSU side. Can you provide the PSU that will give us a starting point.

May we see the specs, or perhaps the model? Hopefully you can salvage something from that PC. You might also want to look on Amazon for used Dell Optiplex models, I have seen some great prices for computers that have a core i5 in them, which is great for the budget gaming space. They also fit a standard ATX power supply, which means that you can get some good value out of them when it's time to upgrade.

I'm unsure why this was moved to displays, I think @JM21 was talking about his PC case's side glass panel. and as far as I understand it, this is basically how tempered glass is. Super hard, scratch resistant exterior, but constant strain of the glass's structure, so it can go pop. I think warranty covers it.

Not with a MSI Max motherboard.  They are fully ready for Ryzen.  THere are other motherboards as well from Asus, gigabtye, etc.. that are ryzen ready now.   You just have to check the Motherboard of your choice.

I build a gaming PC using the Ryzen 5 3600 with MSI Tomahawk Max Mobo and no flashing of the bios needed.
