well, my card is broken but not completely dead. I get artifacts while gaming on my screen if I leave the settings to high, and on defaults my system crashes/ But if you cut the memory clock it might work correctly, even if it is weaker.

I was hoping that the lower core count would make up for the hardware issues in some fashion (maybe disengage the bad pipelines if I was super lucky). But since the larger problem is with the vram, I don't think it was a perfect plan. I do have a way of recovering the system because I have a loaner Quadro P620 that I have been using to attempt getting the card to behave properly. Mostly a matter of setting the performance the way I like it and stress testing, so I was confident with whatever BIOS modding I did could be undone. so strange but now software is doing what I want, after starting this thread!

I want to flash a BIOS from a weaker card (RX 560 for example) onto my RX 570 to improve stability. I was running ATIflash as administrator, for shore.

So strange. I was about to let you know that MSI afterburner's values are greyed out and can't be changed, which I kept trying to overcome over and over again, but as soon as I opened the app once again to share a screenshot, it is now as expected! I will try to get this to work, but the problem with software (insofar as the AMD radeon software for OC) it does not seem to be appropriately applying my settings and the card still crashes. I will quote you if MSI afterburner fails. Still, I would love a software free, more permanent solution in the form of a BIOS alteration for any future contingencies, out of convenience.

How do I flash an RX 560 BIOS onto my RX 570? It's defective so it needs a power limit put on it, and radeon software won't cut it. I tried ATIflash, but it says "SubsystemID mismatch" unless I am flashing another gigabyte BIOS onto the card. I tried using this guide: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/amd-ati-flashing-guide.212849/ but I am getting an error message: if there is an alternative to flashing, like a really basic BIOS mod, I am also open to that. Reason radeon software won't work: it used to, but now it fails to open, sometimes I get the error message that drivers don't load properly, and it doesn't seem to be correctly applying my underclock settings.

My poor RX 570 is having problems loading the driver. Up to this point I have used a custom profile in Radeon settings to keep my clocks low, but now it seems the software will crash my system, and the custom profile doesn't really seem to do anything. Is there a BIOS I can flash onto my Gigabyte Windforce RX 570 to force a more strict power limit? I was also considering even an RX 470 or 560 BIOS to achieve this, so if that is viable, let me know.

I think it's a good choice, maybe not too expensive and will get the job done. I know some people still use a 750 TI and my own graphics card is so under clocked it might just be as good as a GTX 950 anyway.

I had an EVGA GTX 950 a little while ago and it was really fast. Can you buy one of those? Palit is common in Asia I think and they are decent, even if this graphics card doesn't look like anything special.

Sometimes these are good, if you can lift the ram and sell the computer again to regain some money. I was really lucky, I got my motherboard cheap from eBay, but it is sad that it needs a power adapter for the 24 pin. I don't know if a nicer motherboard makes for a computer that is still cheap, because if I had to pay much more, I probably would have looked for a Ryzen processor and really cheap AMD motherboard.

looking at motherboards, it would seem that MSI are the only ones right now with a habit of using the same name on very different boards. Specifically the MSI B450 A-Pro and the B450M A-Pro appear to be radically different, despite implying the size is the only difference.

I highly suggest the used market for the graphics card and motherboard. When it comes to mouse and keyboard, your personal taste is pretty important as well. Unfortunately there are no "regular PCIe cables", but you can tell us the model of your power supply and hopefully we could think of something. Also, you can ask the manufacturer if replacement cables are available.

May we see the specs, or perhaps the model? Hopefully you can salvage something from that PC. You might also want to look on Amazon for used Dell Optiplex models, I have seen some great prices for computers that have a core i5 in them, which is great for the budget gaming space. They also fit a standard ATX power supply, which means that you can get some good value out of them when it's time to upgrade.

I have this old Fitbit dongle and if there's one thing I hate, it's throwing away a perfectly functional gadget. The accessory is long gone, but this USB nub is functional, so I wanted to see if it was possible to replace the proprietary firmware with some generic Bluetooth firmware to make this thing work. Is there an easy way to find firmware, and is there an easy way to flash?

that would be a much more comfortable voltage, for sure. Did changing the voltage to this lower value improve your situation?

Might want to reduce the voltage to your CPU, I've heard that it's bad to go above 1.33 on new Ryzen

my card was able to game and run folding, what is the specific error that is designed to come up? Also, I'm definitely not the first person who's run AMD and nvidia side by side, so I'm not super sure about this "hard coded error." How is this meant to work with things like the Ryzen APU series, such as the 2200G, which have Vega graphics onboard? Certainly these work fine with nvidia graphics cards?

Actually, I had run a GTX alongside my 570 and I decided that I would download the Radeon drivers from their site, while I let device manager handle the GeForce drivers. I think this kept the software suites from conflicting with one another. However, this was for folding@home, I don't know if that same usefulness can be found here.

It appears to be a very popular board, but from what I can tell, no more impressive than competition from MSI, the likes of which are the B450-A Pro, Gaming Plus, and Tomahawk, and all of those have a MAX version which is guaranteed compatible.

I've also been told that the ASRock B450M/AC is so new that they all come with an updated BIOS, and since that board is both cheap (with a decent heat sink) and has WiFi, it's pretty compelling.
