I don't watch WAN show. It's bad (in my opinion).
I do watch TechLinked. So that was prepared. Although it was The Worst Facial Hair Decision Guy dropping it so I guess it was kinda unprepared too.

By the way I really do appreciate your work. All of you. Especially those dumb enough to put their personal time in instructions, guides and everything. Most of what I did in my life was for non-profit and I gained mostly complaints. I still love it, I'm sure you love it too. Keep up the good work. 🙂

About the GPU, have you noticed BIG BLUE BOX on top of this page:

F@H works on more than COVID, there are so many projects that need help too! The COVID WUs are weighted more so you are more likely to get assigned one of them if they are available.

I have GTX 1080Ti & i7-8700k (Win 10 Pro), water cooling so almost no noise. I used to do this kind of thing over a decade ago, so when Linus told me to come here and donate my electrical bill I decided to help. Perhaps the community is closed enough that you don't see anymore how bad the process is (or perhaps I was unlucky?). Anyhow, I'm writing this post to give you a fresh set of eyes. BTW I'm an IT specialist which might be relevant.
    1. There was really call to action on TechLinked yet the event stars... two weeks from now? I'm confused. How is this emergency response? I decided to run the software anyway.
    2. I've stared with making a forum account to join the team (later I learned that this is for points only? team id is enough?). I decided to use Facebook to sign up. The app is broken (something something app developer not activated someone never did it right). Google it is.
    3. The main thread (linked by TechLinked) has no installation instructions. Cool, perhaps there are other threads. What? 10 threads pinned on top? Barely fit on 1080p screen. Ok, there is a long name "Folding@Home Install Guide and Links - LinusTechTips_Team - 223518", seems relevant.
    4. Two install guides (?) and Chrome Folding App. Back in the old days everything run more effective as standalone. I'll try that but who knows whether I'm right?
    5. Software asks me for the name (I can put anything right?) then team id while the post is talking about the passkey. Oh, it's later in the post (and in the title) but it's hardly in the order the user needs the information.
    6. Let's get the passkey now. It didn't work. I've resent it (4 hours). Nada. I've resent it (4 hours). Null. FAQ on the Stanford page says nothing about delivery problems. Oh, here it is - 3 emails in the morning. Welcome to 1995. I started software without the key, I can add it later, right? It doesn't say that I can. Fork it, I'll reinstall if needed / edit config files / whatever.
    7. "HOW do I get one of those fancy Badges?? Check here:". There is a badge for this? Nobody told me there are badges for it. I want the badge. Let's follow the link. Long FAQ. Still have no idea how to get the badge. Fork the badges.
    7. "I use this to run Hyper-V hosts....". URL doesn't work. I use Hyper-V manager to run Hyper-V hosts, no idea what this is about then. Fork it, probably not relevant for me, perhaps stuff for people with more GPUs than cases.
    8. "For version for running in Ubuntu, here is a link from [H]ardForum for their Ubuntu Desktop Install version:" - let's click a link. Just in case. Oh, right I have to sign up first to read what's behind the link. Fork it.
    9. "And also a link for their new Ubuntu Appliance version:".. is it behind... yes, I need to sign up. Windows it is.
    10. "Folding@home Installation guide! Linux distros and server." I stopped reading after the red 32bit. Already decided Windows it is, I ain't reading about no 32-bit. It's been already a tough evening.
    11. "Remember, during the install, use our Team Number for proper points crediting - 223518" I've CONTROL+F shit out of it before, needed for installation.
    12. I've pretty much finished the guide, all I got from here was a link to a form which didn't generate passkey and team ID. I don't think I needed this whole guide, I know nothing about the process. Back i the old days with rainbow tables it was easy, so let's hope for the best.
    13. Software seems to be running, needed to speed up the pump to keep the fans quiet, yeah it's fine. Wait, the GPU is not working. Why isn't it working? It says ready, downloading, collection server 0.0.0.0 what the hell. Better restart. Oh, now the web-ui keeps restarting. Apparently it's a 2.5 years tradition with veteran Issue number #6: https://github.com/FoldingAtHome/fah-web-client/issues/6. What the actual hell. Private tab works, so we're fine. I think. GPU still idle. Start stop? No. Restart app? No. Restart PC? No. Google problem? Posts from 2014 saying that perhaps my GPU is unstable (???! ok this is dumb). Oh there is log tab in the app. Let's check warnings & errors. It seems to have logs only from the latest start-up. Some errors but nothing which would help me guess the issue. Ok, let's fin the log folder (why isn't there a button to open in Explorer?!). Oh, wait the GPU is working. Ok, let's leave it for the night. In the morning GPU is back to it's original problem.
    14. Oh, there is a Google Form on forum to join the event. Why isn't it on top, why would I need to read about what COVID-19 is first before I  find out there is a form to fill? Oh right, emergency response will start two weeks from now. Ok, whatever. LTT Forum Name: Jaom. Folding name: ....? Jaom? . Send. Is that it? I have no idea.
I want to "help". I don't remember when I was lost in so many ways. Especially trying something which I did years ago. And surprisingly it does not seem to have advanced much... There are so many things I'm still confused about and at this point I'm afraid to google because I get unrelated answers, typically from over half a decade ago. I'm not trying to complain, I hope this will help to improve the way the information/instructions are prepared.
    15. Where do I put my post now? Ugh. Ok I can because of COVID-19, so I'm going to put it here. Although it seems like non related to the action. Is there a better place? 10 pinned threads, none is "help with / questions". Fork it, "LTT Folding Team's Emergency Response 2 weeks from now to Covid-19" it is.

I will talk with @leadeater and as long as he is okay with being able to handle the testing moving the date towards the end of next week could be achievable.

As far as guides go we are working on a slimmed down modern guide. But these things take time, it is progressing though!

Unfortunately these events usually have 4 weeks of planning involved, it was released now to get the word spread but most of the team that handle folding events are not about so I am mostly doing it single handedly, I am working as hard as I can to get everything sorted, with leadeater on board it may be we can shift the event to next week. Folding months have 6-8 weeks of planning and this is looking like it will rival a folding month event in size. So please bare with me as I get things rolling as fast as I can.

We do have a mailing list but have stopped advertising it as messaging people on the forum has become more difficult of late. I have been planning to reach out to Mortis to see if there is a way he can push a DM to a large number of people in one go.

As far as converting people to more regular folders just have a look at this chart, we are a team that is growing!

Green is pre-folding month, blue is the time between the first and second folding month and red is production since the most recent folding month.
