  1. Not sure then. At this point I would clear you CMOS, do a fresh install of windows, and make sure both windows and all your drivers are updated. If you still have problems at that point then I would be looking at either RAM or a UPS to clean up your power.
  2. If your still happy with it and it keeps up with your other hardware then keep using it. Personally I would try to make it last as long as I can. There will always be something newer and better but the longer you hold off then the better that upgrade will be when you finally pull the trigger. Right now I am still running a pair of $300 displays from 2019 and am only now considering upgrading because one of them flickers and gets a weird distorted bar at the bottom whenever I move it, but I am still waiting for black friday to get last year's model super cheap.
  3. Sounds like a GPU driver, under rated PSU, or dirty power at the outlet. Can I ask what GPU you are using?
  4. If your running Linux then you'll get better bang for your buck with an AMD GPU since a lot of the extra features that RTX offers won't work anyway. You will still want a PSU upgrade though and CPU would depend on what your doing.
  5. If it is a cheep unknown brand then you probably got scammed and the drive is only formatted to look like it is 2TB when it is actually smaller. Otherwise it might be a bad sector on a mechanical drive or bad firmware on an SSD. In any case, your best bet is probably a replacement.
  6. running a psu that is not rated for your hardware can cause a number of problems. If it is close then you can get weird unexplainable issues that are impossible to track down. A bigger difference should just cause the PC to shut down whenever it draws to much power. A cheap poorly built PSU will just set your PC on fire. Running it like this for a long time can cause damage to components under certain circumstances.
  7. Not a fan of Apple but you do want something that has a good keyboard and supports Linux well if you want to duel boot or just not use windows. I like ThinkPads but Dell Latitudes aren't bad either. I would also be willing to try a framework. If you have a place near you that has a bunch of laptops on display then I would go try out the keyboards, even if you buy elsewhere it will give you a frame of reference for different lineups
  8. It should be keyed so that it only fits one way. On the 4 pin header you will see a tab that is off center and on the 3pin plug there will be a spot to slide over it.
  9. sure, the AC reduces the amount of moister the air can hold which in turn reduces the amount that has a chance to accumulate in the first place. A heater would work by keeping the water in the air instead of on a surface but would have the side effect of heating you CPU. A fan on the other hand keeps the moister moving, so even if it starts to accumulate, it just evaporates again right away. It's not actually reducing humidity just its effect, this is why it feels good in the heat, it doesn't keep the air cool, it just helps evaporate your sweat which has a cooling effect on your skin.
  10. we would have to put headlights and glow sticks on the RC cars for the VR racing and hold it out on the ice
  11. Sometimes there rules and enforcement of them seem super random. On the way up I took my laptop out of my bag for security but left my extra monitor in the bag and got flagged because I didn't take out the monitor. Then on the way back, I took out both and both got flagged for further inspection (they didn't say why). But they didn't care that I was bringing back a tone of dried seaweed snacks (can't find it in my area). As for buying to much. The only merch I got was one of the LTX exclusive desk pads which I still feel was overpriced at $40 but I really like the dinosaur design . I did try out one of the screwdrivers while I was there, it still doesn't make sense to me but I have yet to find a ratcheting screwdriver or a method of bit storage in the handle that I do like .
  12. yea, I also want to check out /e/ and ubuntu touch but that is a ways out yet
  13. What kind of arms are you looking for and what kind of displays are you looking to put on them? the strength and reach requirements for dual 22in Flat screens is a lot different then dual 32in curved. Straight, fixed arms are also a lot cheaper then fully articulating hydraulic arms. Don't just get ones that are overbuilt though because then they may not let a lighter weight display sit properly without shooting up to maximum height.
  14. As others have said, disassembly is overkill for cleaning and potentially dangerous if you don't know what your doing. If you still want to get the screw out then your best bet is to just drill it out. If you go this route be sure to get all of the metal shavings/debree out of the PSU before plugging it back in. On a completely unrelated note, can you tell us what town you live in so that we can watch the obituary section?
  15. To be fair. I also got the S21 and ended up not liking it at all. The day the contract ended, I "upgraded" to a pixel 4a 5g off ebay (last pixel with a headphone jack) and put graphene OS on it. I may only get like a year of updates since it is already so old but it has been so much better.
  16. Rochester, MN. Flying out of Minneapolis.
  17. midnight to 6:30am. Plan is to basically take a nap in a terminal
  18. I have a Toronto layover on Thursday night if that counts
  19. Thank you! I could not find the button.
  20. you need to be logged in to reach the support page
  21. Hello, Whenever I try to login to floatplane it says "The provided reCAPTCHA token is invalid. Please reload and try again." my old phone that is still logged into the app works fine but my new phone and browsers can't get in. I have tried clearing cookies and cache without any change. Today I tried it on a fresh OS and browser install and still had the issue. My DNS and firewall logs don't show anything and I get the same issue on other networks. Any other ideas would be appreciated.
  22. Bandwidth should be fine for a teams call and chat but don't be streaming movies or music at the same time. I have seen people pull it off with far worse connections but they had to make compromises. If you are uploading/downloading large files a lot (like 3d models) then it won't be fun. biggest thing will be your ping times and general consistency during calls but that will be hard to predict.
  23. Depends on what your modeling and what the poly count is. Lagging in Maya is not a good sign but I would be willing to bet that it would be fine for something simple like a crate. Probably going to struggle with high res character models though and full scenes may be impossible. Especially if your porting them into something like unreal 5 with textures and lighting. In the US at least, the employer will provide you with the computer to work from home. So if you can deal long enough to build a portfolio and get the job then it may be a non-issue. If this isn't the case where you are then the employer may be able to provide other solutions to get you going quickly. If your art shines and is a good fit for them then it is in there best interest to help you be an effective worker.
  24. I would be looking at used hardware personally for that price point. Can I ask why the need for ryzen? an i3-12100 can be had new for under $100 with 4c/8t at 4.3GHz and will run esports and most free titles just fine.
