  1. We have a dedicated AC in the server room, and plenty of power, so that is not an issue. Thanks all, will still have to check if it is worth it. Might be more worth it to get 2 new r9 processors. Would be circa the same price.
  2. Got it. It is a bit tricky since it is really hard to find such dense rack. 8cpus in one. Will try to find something. Thanks for the heads up!
  3. We already have the vray, and the vray render nodes. We have been operating for a few years now. And we have a dedicated server room. Might need to add some acoustics isolation to it, to dampen the sound. The only point of these is the CPU performance, we don't need them for GPU, as that is not a part of our workflow. One of the problems is that r9 7900x scores 22 269 on the vray benchmark, but dual epyc 7451 score 13 703. So basicaly 3 epyc 7451 = 1 r9 7900 The value is pretty much on par. For 5k I can get 3 fully operational r9 machines, since we can throw any gpu in it, does not mather.
  4. Hey guys, we have a medium size company, and have a few 3D editors, that need CPU rendering. I came across this SERVER. (SUPERMICRO AS-2123BT-HTR 24SFF) It is from 2017, but 8 x EPYC 7451 for 2500 euro (2600usd) seems really tempting. That is 384 threads, older threads, but 384 non the less. Meaning, if we get 2, we can get 768 threads total, for cca 5k. You guys think it is worth investing? I can add some more ram, but 256 DDR4 seems also OK. EDIT: (The editors use R9 5900x, 128gb ram, 3090 at the moment). But they can only render overnight at the moment. They can't render during the day, since it takes too much of the resaurces. Let me know what you think!
  5. Ok perfect! Exactly what I needed to know. Thanks!
  6. Hey guys, so I have a question, that I can not seem to find an answer to online. The mouse DPI settings are getting really stupidly fast. Most of us play on 400-2k max. BUT if you reduce the mouse speed in windows, you can increase the DPI quite a bit, and still have the same cursor speed. Question is, is it worth doing that? I did lower it in windows (not all the way down), and got my mouse on 10k dpi, and it works great. What do you think, is there any benefit to doing this? My guess would be yes, you do not let the windows software control the precision, but rather the mouse. In theory it should give a bit better precision? Not sure if it will be noticeable at all, or if I am right at all. What do you guys think?
  7. Thanks for the heads up! So basically there is not a lot of difference between magle and load balancing? Since it won't be able to use both at the same time anyways?
  8. I have been searching the internet for this, but I don't see a nice tutorial anywhere. We got 2 wan connections comming in 500/30 and 200/70. We use the MIKROTIK CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+RM managed switch. At the moment it is just plug and play. So when we place both wan connections in, it would seem to do load balancing automatically. Which is great. But I want to mangle and pool both connections to work as one, for that there needs to be a buch of rules set in place. I did find this: https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=135991 But it might as well be in Klingon.. I've never worked with managed switches before. Any help?
  9. I was always bothered with the pricing of consumer electronics in the US and Canada. How about a series of episodes where forum users can post main trading websites in their countries, and let Linus try to pick the best bang for buck PCs, but with local price tags. It would be interesting to compare them to the US counterparts. For example, our local website for pretty much anything is olx.ba (with a little translate help you can navigate the site, even though it is in Bosnian). But it is pretty straight forward. Screenshot attached. Or you can just search for a part. RTX 2080 is still a RTX 2080. And you can use BAM to USD conversion to compare how much those parts would cost in the US. https://www.google.com/search?q=bam+to+usd&oq=bam+to+u&aqs=chrome.0.35i39j69i57j0l6.1592j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 One thing to note, most of the pricing does not have 17% VAT included. So yea.. Again, it would be pretty interesting to compare the pricing across the world. Since we have about 20-30% more expensive consumer electronics. What do you guys think?

  11. I know that is always an option.. But I don't wanna. I am trying to figure out the best cheap wireless option.
  12. The problem with bluetooth is that most bluetooth devices connect 1-2 devices the most. There is no way to daisy chain them.
  13. Hey guys! Long time ltt follower, first time poster here! Ok, here is the deal. I have been looking into an option of mutispeaker wifi setup. I want to use it in our new office, probably 8-12 speakers. It is devided into 2 open floor plan areas 700sqf each, so I guess bluetooth is out of the question for such distances. Only option I have left are wifi speakers. BUT, spending a few hundred usd per speaker is really not the option since these speakers will be played at low volume just to be used as background noise. In our old office we used a simple 5.1 system with filled speakers and it worked great, but we routed the cables trough false ceilings. In the new one (that we rent) I don't have false ceilings. So it is hard to route them and make it look nice at the same time. One more restriction is that we are located in Europe, outside EU, and what ever the price for something in the US is, add some 30-40% to that. It is quite expensive here. (for comparison, a 2080super is 1200usd here). So any ideas for a DIY solution? I have looked into 3.5mm adapters, but no luck so far. Maybe someone here has some experience. Thanks!
