  1. I feel they kinda missed the mark on this. Mainly the way they controlled it - you can use your finger yes, but it's so much better to use your thumb as you avoid some of the problems mentioned about controlling it. Though I really wish Apple would licence their touchpad tech to third-parties so we can have this kind of product, only with a proper touchpad. I prefer the Mousetrapper Advance myself, found the Rollermouse to be too inaccurate. Started using it at work couple of years ago as and it's been great. Riley briefly mentioned it, but to be able to move your hand slightly down to control the mouse is great when you have a lot of typing-heavy sessions with brief mouse movement. Still got a regular mice for when I need to be faster and more precise with the pointer. While either option is great, you're simply less precise and fast using it rather than a standard mouse. It's not for everyone, but most offices in Norway usually offer either a Rollermouse or a Mousetrapper. Didn't think it would be such a foreign product, but hey.
  2. This might be problematic, not because a hacked device shouldn't be banned, but because banning a user associated with a hacked device opens up a can of worms. Scenario: A friend logs onto my Switch. We play some games. Then a month later I hack the Switch and go online. Nintendo detects this, and bans all accounts on that Switch. My friend who has no connection to the hack receives a ban. BUT! Thus far we only have this one(?) article and incident. As far as I know, there has been no public stance from Nintendo on this. Honestly, they should just state their policy regarding this. IMO it's OK to ban a hacked device from accessing the online service of Nintendo. There really is no excuse, you can do as you will with your device, but the consequence is that you're banned from accessing a seperate service not included with the Switch. This is especially true when they launch the paid online service.
  3. But this is not comparable to your example about Dell banning you.. this is more comparable to being banned from GoG, as you still get to keep your games and get updates for the OS from Nintendo. However, reading the source cited in the video, it seems like it was a account ban, and not a device ban. 4. I agree with Nintendo on this. They should be allowed to do what they want with their online platform. According to the OP, they only block access to the online service, but still allow OS and existing games updates. They would probably be within their right to block OS and game updates if they detect a modified Switch. As for the whole homebrew argument and about being allowed to do what you want with your console, you can. Just don't expect to be allowed onto Nintendo's online service with a modified console.
  5. I think it was, thought this was a new breach at first. Déjà vu...
  6. Banned for listening.
  7. Seems kinda.. great and terrible at the same time. The art style in particular I think will end up as an "acquired taste". Though, the possibility to combine units is something that's been needed in the series for a long time. Will probably wait until the second expansion; going with the theme of the old Civ games, they generally don't get better than the previous until the second expansion. If there is one though. Anyways, as always with games, wait for proper reviews of the game before buying it.
  8. Hello. Does anyone know of a free program for converting PDF to Word files? I've searched a bit, but couldn't find any that actually worked. I know there are countless online sites that does this, but I need a program so I can actually convert without being connected to the Internet.
  9. While using Unlimited as sales pitch, I understand why they do it. 75TB is a lot of usage, in terms of bandwith, storage mediums, as well as redundancy. That said, I wish companies would stop using "Unlimited", even with an asterix, as feels like false advertising.
  10. I really don't understand how some people think this is good news. From what I understand, the only change this bring, is that you're required to actually use GFE as well as sign in to it. There is nothing good about this change, all it does is give less choice to consumers. Want to sign in to GFE? Great, use it if you wish. But forcing this onto all users who actually want to have updated drivers is just a silly move on Nvidia's part.
  11. Played a bit of the Beta yesterday. Running a 290x and a FX8320 (I know, the CPU is really bad for games). However, running everything at ultra, at 1920x1200, with resolution scaling at 150%, I got smooth gameplay. Haven't checked the actual FPS yet, but it feels buttery smooth. Only downside so far, is the lag at the start, and score screen of a match is horrible, even uses all 8 cores at 90ish%, which I've yet to see in a game. That said, really impressed so far with the Beta in terms of performance. Edit: Uses 8 cores at loading, drops down to 40ish% usage during games.
  12. The people behind this seems incredibly naive. Wanting to spread love and all that, while the reality is that this app will most likely be used for trolling/scorned people.
  13. Any info if DX12 is supported? Would be awesome to test DX11 vs DX12.
  14. Honestly, it's an impressive card considering the performance packed into such a small form factor, with air cooling. The coil whine is horrible though, it's something that hopefully they manage to fix.
  15. I'm kinda torn on this. Competition for Twitch is a good thing, as a good competitive market favours consumers. On the other hand, if Google and Twitch partnered, promoting each other, making it easier for Twitch users to put up stuff on Youtube, and for Youtubers to stream (direct link to the stream, embedded player etc.) it would be great. I feel more big players are needed in the streaming industry, although fragmented streaming is not exactly good either. We'll just have to see in the coming months if people adopt Youtube Gaming, or if it's going to end up a niche market.
