Thanks for the response. I am considering a second monitor, but that would have to be probably in one years time, since I am currently in my last year of a bachelor degree (I think it's called undergrad in the us?) and I would have to get a job before I could afford a second monitor. I don't think I want to buy used, since I want the guarantee and it's 60 days no questions asked return where I'm buying, so if I want to switch some components after I have bought I could just send it back and switch to another.
Thanks for the response. The Cosair is a bit cheaper, about $20 and it's not slower on read speed, so maybe that's the way to go. When it comes to the RAM I would have to drop down to 3200Mhz if I am going to buy it all at the same place, and maybe I could save about $40 if I go for the G.Skill Flare X DDR4 16GB KIT 3200Mhz, but the reviews I have looked at so far, this could lead to a 10% drop in fps, but I don't really know.
In NOK this computer costs about 25k, and I am thinking of capping the budget at 20k, so I am quite a lot over budget. It would primarly be gaming and programming I would do. No streaming. I just want a smooth gaming experience at 1440p.
First of all thanks for the response, and as you can see above my budget is about NOK 20k, but I might go 10-15% higher.
1. I am definitly considering the 3600. Here in Norway it's about $40 (USD) differnce in price. Where I am buying it's not in stock at the moment, and I want to buy most of the components in one place, since I am getting a small discount. But the discount is not big enough to justify to wait an undisclosed amount of time for it go get here, so I am also looking at other shops.
2. I did look at the Prime X570-P but I read somewhere that if I have big graphics card it might block the chipset fan and lead to high temps, so I don't know if I want to go there. I dropped the Asus ROG Strix RX 5700XT becuase of the high temps, and high temps is something I want to avoid (obviously).
3. With the RAM I would have to check the QVL before choosing, because I don't really want to configure the RAM myself. I did look at some cheaper ram kits, like G.Skill Flare X DDR4 16GB KIT 3200Mhz. The Ripjaws 3600 is only about $20 cheaper than the RAM I am considering now, and I haven't checked the QVL for that ram kit, but I am sure it is on there. if i save 20 dollars here and 20 dollars, I might reach my budget, so it's definitly a good idea.
4. So the stock cooler is really that good? I did also look at a Noctua cooler, like the nh-u12a, but I am not sure if it would be tall enough to stay clear of the ram. If i drop the cooler I save about $160 to $170, and if the stock cooler is good, that's fantastic.
5. Switching to the Crucial would save me about $40, but then I could go for the Corsair Force MP510 for about $20 more and get the read speed of the Samsung. I have not really looked in to how read speed affects gaming, so if about 500MB/s if good enough, I might just go for that. I might have to check the QVL for m.2 as well, since I want to build to pc to be plug and play with miminimal after build configuration.
6. The case is kind of expensive I know. If I step down to the 400S instead of 600S I am saving about $100 and if i go for the stock cooler on the cpu, the 400S is more than big enough. I will definitly check out PCPartPicker to see if I find a vendor that has parts cheaper. In Norway we also have a couple of pages, like PrisJakten ("the price hunt" directly translated) dedicated to find whatever you are looking for the cheapest.
Finally I would like to thank you all again! If i follow some your tips I think i might be under budget! I will check this out to night and post the new build tomorrow. Like I said i just really want a smooth 1440p gaming experience and components that fit optimally together so there is mimimal config to do after the build! Again thanks!
