  1. i want to run my website, my mumble server, and a few gameservers (including but not limited to minecraft, tf2 and rust) but want to avoid a high-cost vps and just use my own hardware to maintain full control and reduce long-term cost. my only concern is that i don't want people to ddos me and take my home network offline, since i share a network with family. is there any way i can avoid exposing my real ip address while also maintaining ease of use for my users and low latency? cloudflare would work for http, but not for anything else. wireguard on a vps maybe? to be clear i'm okay with paying for a cheap vps or some kind of proxy service.
  2. absolutely love your avatar

    1. Poinkachu

      Poinkachu

And I for some reason like yours @_@

  3. yup, there were 3 posts about it on the front page of /g/ and one or two on /lgbt/. 4channers are losing their minds over this -.-
  4. if you want to get rid of synapse just... get rid of synapse. just stop using it. uninstall it. the viper ultimate is a perfectly good mouse, your choice to install and use synapse should not make you want to replace it. you do not need it for the mouse to work. the mouse can save your preferences. every mouse brand has crappy software or no software at all
  5. the mx keys is a wireless keyboard and therefore the backlight dims to save power. it is exceedingly unlikely that this is fixable with a hardware hack as this functionality is programmed into the firmware
  6. try and divide 8000 with any of the common monitor refresh rates: 60, 120, 144, 240, etc. notice how it always returns a decimal figure? that is most likely why your cursor is skipping
  7. you know the formula: distance = latency best thing to do is problably get a long powered usb extension cable and plug a usb bluetooth dongle into that
  8. literally anything from keychron. probably the c1 or c2 depending on whether or not youre a numpad enjoyer
  9. a linux distro being "more like windows" is never a good thing. if you're going linux, embrace linux, don't try to dress it up and put makeup on it to pretend you're still using windows
  10. the a1278 (which is a 13" macbook pro from 2012) does not support snow leopard. snow leopard came out 3 years before this computer. the oldest os it supports is 10.7.4, which is lion. the newest os it officially supports is 10.15.7 catalina. the newest os it unofficially supports is 13 ventura
  11. you're not really looking for a distro that's touch optimised, you're more looking for a desktop environment which is touch optimised. in your case, it would probably be gnome. ubuntu ships with gnome, but i would not recommend that you use ubuntu as the snap ecosystem of software is still extremely poor. fedora ships with gnome and is very user friendly and leaves gnome mostly stock. it's also recommended by the gnome project itself
