  1. I plugged in my USB ethernet jack I use for my switch and that works. Not sure if its a configuration thing but I may just spring for an internal ethernet card. Would there be compatibility issues I may encounter? Its a pretty old board. It is a MSI Z270
  2. Ive done this with no success. I am attempting to reformat my computer and unplugging my wifi card. It could be the physical port that has an issue.
  3. Just did it on my Laptop and it is working fine. I also works with my switch
  4. Hello I have been googling for hours trying to figure this out and need some help. My ethernet cable is plugged in, lit up, shows up in ipconfig and everything but has "No Internet" in the settings. My wifi works fine on the machine. I've changed out the cable and I have a wired ethernet connection to another PC that works well. I have switched the ports and everything and I am at a total loss. Not sure where else to begin troubleshooting. Thank you for any and all help!
  5. Hello all, I recently upgraded my pc and Im using the old parts for a media center/server. My main problem is that the computer ALWAYS goes to BIOS on startup. Some notes: installed windows through windows media creation tool and I had 2 M.2 in there before. I have since removed one, and reinstalled windows on the single M.2. I want to completely format that M.2 but im having a bit of trouble doing so. Either way it is a working windows set up as I was able to force boot my M.2 and even install a couple things. Here are the steps I've taken: Updated BIOS Reset BIOS to default Set boot priority to the M.2 Reinstalled Windows Removed extra M.2 That had a windows install on it (I tried to install to both M.2 to see if that would fix it.) Specs: Intel i7 7700k Nvidia GTX 1070 MSI Z270 M7 Gaming (MSI Click BIOS 5) 2TB Crucial P5 M.2 Corsair RM750X
  6. I upgraded my PC with the following: CPU: 7700k -> 12700k MOBO: MSI Z270 -> ASUS TUF Z690 PSU: CX750 -> RM750 Cooler: Corsair HD80i -> Noctua NHD15 For some reason none of my hard drives are available as boot drives. I have 1 SSD and 3 NVME M.2. I know the SSD had a working windows install before I started changing parts out. In the BIOS all 4 drives show up but none are bootable. I can't even install a fresh windows to any of them. They do not show up in windows install. Possibly notable: there was a windows update that totally bricked my windows so I installed a new windows on my SSD. The old windows install never got cleaned out but never showed up as bootable after the newest windows install. Any and all help is appreciated. Thank you and happy holidays.
  7. Im seeing a 13700K for $380 USD. Are those bundles still a better value vs a discounted CPU?
  8. I'm looking to find a decent deal on a cpu as we approach black Friday. Currently am running a i7 7700k. I play a ton of video games and I do special effects on Adobe after effects and I edit videos fairly often. I don't know how to measure the performance new CPUs nor do I understand their compabilities with mobos. Hoping to get some good combo recommendations. Thanks in advance!
  9. Oh thank you for the information. This is the switch I am using https://www.amazon.com/Aumox-Ethernet-Unmanaged-Traffic-Optimization/dp/B07XCDVTDQ/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3TBK8J9T01I7O&dchild=1&keywords=aumox+5+port+gigabit+ethernet+switch&qid=1618802187&sprefix=aumox%2Caps%2C142&sr=8-4
  10. I don't know much honestly, sorry. We pay for 300 up 300 down. If i recall correctly megabits is the internet speed one. Im purely reporting what speedtests are saying. The issue is that the internet speeds that go through the switch are about 50-100 down. However the speed before the switch are around 300 down. As far as I understand, the speed shouldn't decrease that much through a switch if at all.
  11. I seem to be losing speed at my switch. I have a gigabit capable switch but when the main connection (which i tested to have full speed) goes through the switch, every device connected to it goes down to 50-100 mb/s. The switch connects all the wall ports in the house. They all use CAT6 cables. I even have one connection that goes from the switch into a router in the basement. The router gets 150 mb/s but when my computer is plugged into said router it goes down to about 50 mb/s. My dad's computer which is going straight to the switch gets roughly 80 mb/s. Any idea why this is? Thanks in advance for any help!
  12. Well this is a little embarrassing but I figured my dad was a little smarter than this. After I configured some stuff on the NETGEAR router we were getting great speeds. I go to check the switch he was using to send it across the house and he cheaped out on some $8 rinky dink switch that was bottle necking the hell out of every device that wasnt in the study room where the main router is. Thank you for all your help...I feel so dumb.
  13. It is outside and its secured by several different screws/bolts. I'll need to find the tools to get it open but I will have my dad ask if this is a problem. I do know they replaced our old ONT years ago. Used to be an indoor one which I guess is why I took a picture of where the old one used to be. Forgot they installed the one outside. Thanks for the heads up.
  14. No, only about half the speed. But I think 90ish mb/s is usable. I don't know how far I can get with Verizon as I've called them twice and all they do is try to sell me their routers.
  15. After a few restarts on my Amplifi Router I was able to get similar speeds to my parents router. I guess I forgot to reboot my own router when I figured rebooting the main router was equivalent.
